I've been a client at Salon Rock for about a year but have seen Acacia personally for about two years, and unfortunately, my most recent experiences have been VERY disappointing. When I first started seeing Acacia, I was impressed with her skill in color correction and cuts, which is why I was willing to pay higher prices and trusted her enough to experiment with different toners and colors. That trust, however, has been broken after multiple negative experiences. A few months ago, I asked Acacia if she was comfortable doing a gray dye, and I made it clear that if she wasn't, was fine not pursuing the look. She assured me she could. After nearly 7 hours in the chair, my hair turned out cobalt blue underneath platinum blonde- completely different from what I requested. Instead of taking accountability, she blamed the product, despite admitting she used a discontinued color she wasn't familiar with because she was rushing before a trip. I was charged $360 and only refunded the dye after I asked. The experience left me devastated, and I ended up cutting off a significant portion of my hair due to the damage. Despite this, I gave her another chance for a root touch up. I clearly communicated the date of my upcoming wedding and when I could pay. Acacia showed up a week early, then became upset witj me for the mix-up, even though the correct date had been communicated over text. Later, she asked me for a "generous tip" which felt unprofessional and entitled. When I ultimately canceled my rescheduled appointmen (with notice), she became upset and claimed I should pay her a deposit or cancellation fee- neither of which had ever been mentioned in the years I've been her client, nor are they listed on Salon Rock's website. Accusing me of being disrespectful, she blamed me for her own scheduling choices, which I find highly unprofessional. Policies like deposits and cancellations are valid if communicated upfront, but inventing them after the fact and blaming clients is absolutely unacceptable. After years of loyalty, I'm deeply disappointed in the lack of professionalism, accountability, and respect for clients' time and money. I would strongly caution anyone considering this salon or stylist to be aware of this issue. read more

I agree with the people commenting about how the salon has a cool atmosphere, etc. The issue I have is with the people the salon employs. I went to a stylist there that would charge me for services that she'd pass on to her daughter who didn't have a cosmetology license. (Blow-outs, heat styling, and installing extensions!) This happened on more than one occasion, so I left and went elsewhere. As cool of an atmosphere this place may have, I can't give more than 1 star for a business that will employ people who perform services without holding a license. *Edited to Add: WOW. Not your average hair salon.... I loved everything about my experience at Salon Rock! Such a unique place with lots of cool decor, rockin' music, and family owned which is always where I'd rather spend my money! Definitely recommend coming here if you like finding little unique gems. read more

I took my wife in for a cut and Dave was terrific. My wife is in hair heaven. She has some specific needs for her cut and I have to agree with her, she has the best hair cut she's had in years. I can not say enough great things about this place. I live in omaha and was visiting my mom, and now I feel anytime i get my hair done i am going to fly out just to go here. I got highlights and a bangs cut and it turned out even better than I could have hoped. The salon is owned by the nicest, most creative wonderful people. There was never a moment I wasn't smiling about whatever we were talking about. I have had bangs for about 5 years now and am very used to hairdressers messing them up, but I am elated to say that Rain did a WONDERFUL job with them. We gave them the worst circumstances since we had an dinner we were trying to make and we booked the appointment the same day, and they still did an amazing job. They were very sweet about making sure we got to dinner on time but were also very careful to perfect their work. They even had two different stylists blowdrying my hair to make sure we got to dinner on time. Finally, Laura was an absolute delight and is my new favorite person. The absolute worst service ever. Molli , who was to put feather hair extensions in my hair did the worst job. I look like I have lice she was totally incompetent. She then proceeded to bleach my gray hat , which I did. Kit asks her to do. Made my hair the color of a brass tuba. She was just supposed to brighten my gray. Omg. Wow. I went in to get some layers and David worked his magic and said this is the best haircut you're ever gonna have you're going to love it and he was exactly right. I had 9 inches cut off over a week ago and needed a little umph in my hair I came to the right place. I am going to be coming back here for my hairs needs. I needed a new stlyist/colorist, in my search I found Salon Rock and David the owner. David just gave me the BEST hair style I've had in years. He listened to how I wanted my hair cut, made some excellent recommendations for my hair type. David then cut my hair so it fell the way it should naturally, not pulled to make it shape. I also had him fix the botched color from my previous stylist of 2 years. The color is perfect. David loves what he does and it shows. I will continue to go back every six weeks. I was desperate to get my hair cut and colored , just could not take it for one more day! I called up Dave and asked if he had any openings, he fit me right in! I had never been to his salon before, was I surprised, what a cool place! I described what I wanted and although I didn't know how to get what I wanted, HE DID! Did speak with David and wanted to do long term. Haines at this salon. He was unsure if whether his stylists would be able to use shears on my hair for short length . If your a guy that really cares what his hair looks like you need experience with shears . This salon does not offer that kind of service . There are other men's salons that offer their employees training with type of cut . Sport cuts is better read more
