Moved to Mishawaka and decided after our first winter weather I needed a new salon, closer to my new home. I was able to get in within a few hours of making a call on a Saturday. So thankful since a holiday was coming up the following week and I'd be seeing a lot of people. Everyone was extremely nice, making sure I was comfortable and not thirsty. I have always been welcomed with smiles from the staff at the front desk and Kim always works to help me get an appointment that works with my schedule. Just got the best pedicures we've had in a while. There is a small comfortable room in the back of the salon with two pedi stations. Nicoleta is very courteous and includes a nice foot massage and does reflexology work. Jenny is very friendly and detailed in her pedis too. I had my only haircut here sometime back. I would have been better off have a rat eat my hair. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, the lady who cut my hair told she was talking to her friend as she was cutting my hair. I had the best experience today when seeing Heather. She treats me like I'm her friend, not just her client. She starts off by giving you a head massage which is very comforting. I decided to stop by recently as I'm only in town for the summer and had a wedding coming up and needed a fix! The salon was very clean, staff very professional, and one of the best hair cuts of my life! While it was very expensive ($58) it lays beautifully and is very very flattering! I'm used to paying that in some of salons in St. Louis so it did not bother me but something to be aware of! I did not catch the name of the woman who cut my hair but everyone in the salon was extremely nice and friendly. I have already suggested it to people in the community! read more

On November 5 my niece and I got pedicures and I also got a manicure. We both expected a lot more than what we got and paid for. Disappointed! The salon charged us each $20 extra to take off shellac for our pedicures that could not have taken more than 2 minutes. Literally 2 minutes. We feel ripped off. Also the polish applied was not even and was splotchy. We were charged high end salon prices but left feeling robbed and taken advantage of. I would not recommend this place for nails. I wanted to give them 0 stars. read more

Quite enjoyed my first haircut in Mishawaka. Ally was pleasant, quick, and helpful with tips. I'm not too worried when I switch stylists, but I give as much direction as I can because of bad experiences. Ally listened to what I wanted, made some suggestions to make my style a little more friendly and was done in 30 minutes! I usually wait until after my first wash after a cut to make a real assessment, but I was just so pleased with today's experience I had to add this review right away. Love this place. I am a guy that has fine hair that's not easy to cut. One slip of the scissors can make it look awful. And then the stylist keeps trying to correct and correct until it's way too short. Tara got it right the first time and every time since. I am greeted with a smile and coffee or tea (if I want it) when I go in. This place is a quality establishment with a full staff that knows what it's doing. I was very disappointing by the front desk (I think her name is Lauren). I knew there was a problem when I overheard how she talked to a customer on the phone. From what I could understand, the customer asked for a technician by certain name and she said there was no one with that name and "PLEASE DO NOT EVER CALL US AGAIN". I was appalled by that response. It is as if she was getting out of her way to make sure she could insult a customer so he/she would never return to the salon again. Similar thing happened to me this morning. I was 5 minutes late for an appointment so I thought I should call to let my stylist know. At first, she put me on hold for 8 minutes. Then she picked up the phone and asked if she could put me on hold, to which I replied: "I am already on hold". On that reply, she hung up on me immediately. When I called back, she put me on hold for the third time. When I confronted her while I got there, she basically said "Oh LORD!" without a single sign of apology! The front desk person is the first person that a customer meets. For the life of me I could not figure out why the Salon would hire such as person to handle the front desk. It is bad for any business to have a receptionist like that. If you want to retain your customer base, you need someone with customer skills, not someone who is so mean. read more

Still coming to this salon a year later and every single time Hilary has done an AMAZING job! She is the master at balayage. Today I went from a light brown/blonde to a deep brown with some amazing tones and highlights. The color she chose was perfect with my paler skin, as sometimes darker tones in the past have come out way too harsh. Ally is amazing! She is so talented in color and managed to really get my hair healthy after years of bleach and coloring made it so damaged. The salon itself is really nice and always busy - which I take as a good sign. The Keratase product line they carry is by far the best I've ever used...even though they are pricey they are worth it. Ally and the entire staff seem to always be completing continuing education and are always up to date on new products in the salon - and in the beauty market as a whole. After 3 years seeing Ally at Salon Rouge, we just moved to California and I've yet to find anyone here that I trust as much with my hair as Ally. read more

As a graduate student years ago I used to schedule haircuts with one of the salon's apprentices. At $10.00 it was a fantastic deal, and the educator (Thor) at that time always supervised to ensure that the final result was always adequate, if not really good. Since then I started using a salon closer to my mom, which I was happy with; however, my hairdresser raised her prices and with a New Year's resolution to save money, I decided to book an appointment with one of the apprentices at Salon Rouge once again. My hair was just to my shoulders and I wanted a bob for my fine hair. Well, she finished her cutting and the owner came to check it while my hair was still wet. The owner just purchased the salon approximately 2 years prior, he informed me, and as someone who had cut my hair at one time I was happy for him. Sadly, my happiness with my Salon Rouge experience ended there. When the cut was blow-dried I asked to see the back and to my complete shock noted that the apprentice had cut severe layers throughout the back, including a 3.5 inch layer at the crown of my head that was sticking straight out. The sides and front were all one length (the bob I had asked for), but the back.... It was a completely different haircut that had no rhyme or reason to it. She said that the owner did not feel the need to see the haircut dry because he had already inspected it wet. I commented that there was a disconnect between the front and the back of the hair and asked if the two could be blended, but she stated that would make the front look too thin. I told her the top layer was too short and she commented that next time she could leave it longer. I left in shock, but not entirely upset, due to the poor lighting in the salon and the fact that she had styled it so oddly. When I got home, however, I realized just how awful the cut was and when looking at the instagram photos I had used as a reference felt very frustrated that the apprentice had gone rogue and scissor-happy with the back of my head. I called the following day and was told I could come in for another hairdresser to fix the problem, but I had no desire (nor the time!) to do so. I did speak directly with the owner who was apologetic and commented that at some point the apprentices need to show more initiative and autonomy in their cutting. I informed him that the apprentice was not ready and needed the training wheels put back on. To add insult to an already hideous haircut, when several days later I pulled out the cardigan I had worn for the hair appointment, I discovered that the apprentice had dripped streaks of toner across the shoulder of my cardigan. When comparing this most recent experience with prior visits to the salon, I feel justified in stating that the quality control has significantly dropped. And while the staff on the phone were very sweet and wanted to help remedy the situation, I have lost all trust in the salon's ability to provide quality services. read more

I just want to let you know that I will NEVER return to your salon again after the way I was treated today. I made an appointment with Miranda 2 weeks ago for a full highlight, cut and style for today at 5:00 pm. I have been going to Salon Rouge for over 12 years and today was the last time that I will ever step foot in the door. I was told by Kim(manager) that Miranda didn't have time to do my hair today which is completely wrong and unprofessional after my appointment was made for this to be done, it was unprofessional of Miranda that she couldn't even come to me and tell me herself and I have been giving her my business for over 12 years, I was told I will needed to reschedule my appointment and was completely embarrassed for the way I was treated. I will make sure that everyone is aware of the way I was treated today at Salon Rouge. I have already called and asked that Wes call me back and I was told he would as soon as he is finished with his client. I can honestly say your salon is the first one that has ever made me feel horrible and left from there in tears. ***THIS IS THE MESSAGE THAT I SENT THROUGH THEIR FACEBOOK PAGE AND THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO RESPOND WITHIN MINUTES. Thor is fabulous! I've been searching for someone who could cut my baby fine hair in a way that would be no maintenance every since I relocated back to the area several years ago. I'm totally inept when it comes to styling, blow drying etc. I've tried several stylists and while they were lovely people, I couldn't maintain the styles they gave me.
