The back was visibly uneven, the shape was inconsistent from one side to the other, and once I got home and was able to really look at it, I could see how poorly the cut had been executed. I paid $120 plus tip, so I expected a professional haircut and a much better result. I contacted my stylist, Michael, afterward and asked for a refund because I did not feel comfortable having him cut it again. I did not receive a response to my refund request. I'm attaching photos because they show the haircut better than I can describe it. I'm very disappointed both with the service and with how my concern was handled afterward.

Midway through our appointment while we were making small talk she abruptly informed me that she would be charging me more than what she herself had confirmed during the consultation. It came out of nowhere and was very disorienting. When I reminded her of the discount, she made something up on the spot about how the new higher price still reflected the discount. It was super shady and vague and I felt extremely uncomfortable. I could not leave because my head was wrapped in foil and bleach when she chose to announce this change. The color also did not come out the way we had discussed and she pretty much rushed me out of the chair while we were still within our appointment window and kept making passive aggressive jabs about how she had other clients coming in and how she should charge me even more. It's clear that she was disorganized and had not planned her schedule well and was taking that urgency out on her clients. I found the experience to be unprofessional and baffling and will not be returning.

Thankfully, my nerves were quickly quelled. Emily was so kind, personable, and NORMAL. She didn't make me feel uncomfortable, the salon was welcoming and the color service? Phenomenal. There's a moment during a foil color treatment where you have no idea what you're going to look like in 10 minutes. Not a clue. I understand balayage is meant to grow out naturally, but this looked like it had been done months ago when it had only been a week. Even my family commented that it looked grown out. I called the salon to see if they could fix the top portion, and I was told my stylist, Angel, would call me back--but I never heard from her. Overall, I'm really disappointed. Not only was the service expensive, but the results didn't meet expectations, and there was no follow-up or effort to make it right.

I hope anyone who is looking for a new salon chooses a place that supports and lifts up families, not who makes them feel unwelcome and like they're an inconvenience.

While they were outside, I witnessed a woman, who I was later told is the salon manager, Marisa confront these parents in an incredibly inappropriate manner. She made them feel humiliated, and treated them as if they were doing something wrong simply for comforting their upset child. She even went as far as calling security, claiming they were being disruptive because their child was crying. As a bystander, I was honestly disgusted. Watching someone speak to parents this way, especially when they were calmly trying to support their child, was deeply upsetting. Children have difficult moments, they don't always know how to regulate their emotions, and that's exactly when they need patience and compassion, not hostility. I cannot understand how anyone, especially someone in a position of responsibility, could behave in such a cold and unacceptable way toward a family in that situation. To the salon manager, just do better.

So let me start off by saying I'm a sucker for deals. I walked into Salon Sin E on a whim because they had a sign outside that read: $20 haircuts for new customers (placed next to a bowl of free Nerds). Little did I know, they also had an ongoing offer for $10 off all first-time cuts. Yes. My haircut was $10. Now that's out of the way, I can talk about my actual haircut, deals aside. It was/is amazing. I gave Ryan an idea of what I wanted, and let him play around with it. I couldn't be happier. It was expertly cut, feels great, and I absolutely love it (it is a short haircut, tapered A-line, layered in the back, named "Tom"). Not only do I absolutely adore my haircut, but the staff are amazing. They are welcoming, friendly, listen to what you want. The space is clean, relaxing and modern. Seriously people. If you are looking for a new stylist, I cannot recommend Ryan more. And usually, I don't recommend any stylists. As I mentioned, I go for what's cheapest - I'm pretty utilitarian that way. But I loved my haircut, the atmosphere, and service so much.... Jeez. Please just go there already. read more

Even though I am sad that Maggie is no longer in NY, I am ecstatic that she opened up her own salon in Studio City. Despite the fact that I live in NY, I would rather travel to CA than find another stylist. No matter what your hair needs may be, she will provide exactly what you want, NOT what she thinks you may want. I don't let anyone else cut my hair. Salon Sin E is a gorgeous environment in which you are immediately relaxed with a cup of tea while at the same time it maintains that feeling of a cutting edge, hip place to chill. Man, I really enjoyed my experience at Salon Sin E! Going to a new hair stylist is always iffy, but I read the Yelp reviews and thought I'd give it a shot. Autry cut my hair and was absolutely lovely! I'm currently growing my hair out from a super short pixie, so the process has been a bit awkward to say the least. She was very receptive of my initial ideas and communicated a few of her own, which I really appreciated. The end result was a blended 'Velma Kelly' bob that I absolutely adore. The salon employees, atmosphere and neighborhood were all ideal. No pressure or attitude, which has always deterred me from 'the salon experience.' Maggie is charismatic, fun. But she doesn't know how to do hair. I got sucked into all that charisma and ended up paying way too much for a color and haircut that I didn't ask for. It truly sucks paying hard earned money to someone who charges so much and doesn't do their share of their expertise. It just isn't fair. I wouldn't mind paying a pretty penny if it at least what I asked for and decent job. I am not sure how professionals could charge so much money when their work is less than average. I work hard at what I do and deserve the money I make. Please Maggie and all professionals, truly evaluate your work, perhaps do continuing cosmetology education. It's not fair to the public. I can't tell you how many compliments I get on a daily basis. He is so patient and made sure it was exactly what I wanted. And he was such a joy to talk to during the process. I met Maggie at the train to see Santa. She told me she loved my hair and I told her I hated it. She told me I just needed the right cut. I had stopped cutting my hair since the prices are so high and my hair always looked the same after it was cut. I live In West Los Angeles and decided to take the drive to see her. Two hours later my hair looked amazing. Ryan, Peter and Maggie all took the time to explain what I have been doing wrong and the right way to take care of my curls. A friend recommended going to the owner, Maggie, for a haircut at Salon Sin E. I am so happy I took her advice. I have long, wavy hair and admittedly, I am usually never satisfied with haircuts. However, this time was different and I have finally found a stylist in LA! Maggie listened to me and took my preferences into consideration and then creatively worked within my parameters to give me a great cut. I've been coming to her every month since May 2025, and she always treats me with care. I originally came in because a barber down the street messed my hair up. I won't mention their name because I don't want to put anyone down, but Jess completely fixed it. If you've never been, I highly recommend going to Jess. All the staff there treat me like family, and every visit makes me feel welcomed.

This is the first time I've seen her in her new space, located within Salon Republic in Studio City. I love her new space. It's intimate and relaxed and very private which is nice. You don't have to be smelling tons of other people's chemical processes or listening to 20 blow dryers at the same time. So I find it a very relaxing experience. She has a great personality and for me that's a necessity because every 8 weeks I need to spend 3 hours or so with the person doing my hair! Ah, my hair -- I'm very picky. I have brown hair that I lighten in order to make the greys not so noticeable. Then I have highlighting done on top of that. My hair has a natural tendency to get a bit red or "warm" in the process with other colorists which I absolutely can't stand. I just don't like red on me -- it's great on other people! Mary is only the second hairdresser who has ever been able to get my hair to the desired color without a red tint showing through and that makes me dedicated to her like no other. My last visit I went more blonde than usual and I've had nothing but compliments. She also recommended a product from Kevin Murphy called "Young Again" for my hair which is fantastic. I'm addicted to it -- it helps with the flyaways (which I get a lot of because i have very fine hair but LOTS of it). She's extraordinarily talented as a stylist and as a colorist, and I LOVE going to see her. Highly recommended.
