I am a little disappointed that this salon has on their website they do body wave perms but yet I went there yesterday to ask about getting one and none of their stylist will do it. There staff were so rude as well when I was there asking for this service. One of the stylists stated she only did perms on her grandmother. However, after deciding to finally spruce up after several years of otc hair coloring and manicure scissor bangs, I walked into Salon Strut. I wanted a stylist who not only understood, but embraced curly hair. Melissa is just that person. The time she spent on highlighting and lowlighting my gray hair (which is really evident at the temples), so I wouldn't have that "all over one color look" was worth the 3 hours; and I don't "sit" well. Melissa showed me how to pin curl my hair to bring out the curl and waves. She spent time with me asking questions, and responding with suggestions. I have been a client for many years. When I get my hair done it should be a relaxing experience with good conversation with my stylist. When I walked into the salon on Thursday it was not what I had hoped for. There were kids running around, some doing gymnastics where the stylist work and other screaming for the wifi password. You couldn't have sat in the reception area due to the kids and noise. Luckily my stylist was ready for me and took me right back to her chair. It was not the relaxing experience I had hoped for after a long day a work. It was very chaotic. When I asked my stylist who the kids belonged to she told me the owner. As a business owner myself, it is not what you want someone's first impression of your business to be. If I was a first time customer I wouldn't go back. Prior to this I hadn't had a cut in ages and I'd been experimenting with the whole "shampoo-free" thing for a couple months -- so my hair was a total mess with tons of split ends. Chelsea was super friendly and personable, we had a great consultation about what I wanted done, and she gave me lots of advice about how to repair my damaged hair. I'm new to the area so I looked on yelp for a hair salon to cut and color my hair. I've never died my hair before and thought it was a good idea because i started getting grey hair. I made a appt the day of that I called. I brought a picture to the hair dresser that was doing my hair. The picture was of a girl with dark hair and a few highlights of medium brown in her hair. My hair is super dark almost black so I know nothing to light will match my hair. The hair dresser knew I've never died my hair before so I'm not really firmiliar with hair color to much. She told me the picture I showed her looked like a balage is what I think she called it. I said okay trusting that she knew what I wanted because of the clear picture I showed her. After she put the color in my hair and started blow drying it I kept seeing blonde at the tip of my hair. I was not in front of the mirror so I didn't have a close look at it. She finally turned me around in the mirror and asked how I liked the cut. I started freaking out inside and told her my hair looked blonde! It was so disgusting my hair looked like a skunk. I told her I did not like the color and she said if I wanted to see it in the sun and I said no it looked blonde. She put toner in my hair again to make it darker. She then blow dryed my hair once more and the color came out exactly the same. I then told her that it still looked blonde and if she could just re do my hair my natural color. She said she couldn't do it till the next day. I made an apt with her the next day but I was freaking out about how ugly my hair looked and I couldn't let my fiancé see how I looked. I just went to the store and died my hair myself . I probably would of waited to have her fix it but she had such a bad attitude with me that I didn't like her work I didn't want to be around her let alone she smelled like alcohol. Being a business owner myself I know how bad yelp reviews can hurt your business and I would never put out a bad review unless it was terrible. And this experience was horrible!
