I'm so happy we chose this location the customer service was incredibly warm and welcoming. Evelynn did my hair, and she did an absolutely fantastic job! I really appreciated how the teacher came over to check in, asked about what I was looking for, and even gave thoughtful suggestions about a cut that would better suit my hair. As a new mom I don't have $100 to spend on nails so I was excited to 1 get them done for cheaper and 2 help a student out because I was a cosmetology student a few years ago so I understand how it is. My school wouldn't have turned someone like me away (Palomar Institute of Cosmetology def a better school you should look there if interested in schooling) but that's besides the point. My husband felt sad that I was so frusterated so he told me to find a salon and just do it. I had to spend an additional $50 to what I was anticipating for the day but guess what! SHE DIDNT CRY THE ENTIRE 2 HOURS I WAS THERE. So thanks for turning me away for absolutely no reason besides prejudice against moms that can't afford a babysitter. read more

So, once again, salon success! They nailed it by giving me Jessie E as my nail tech. This girl understood exactly what I wanted. She is such a hardworking, determined young lady with a good heart and spirit. This place reminds me of the salons back in the day very welcoming, understanding, and loving. I've gotten so many compliments on my nails. Jessie wouldn't let me leave the chair until she was perfectly satisfied with how they turned out. Very detailed. Please please please save your money and time and go to a different school. I have been going to salon success academy for now five months. The staff is extremely unprofessional and rude Shayla talks to you as if you guys are five-year-olds and or in a kindergarten class. She makes these early morning announcements that just set the whole tone of the school. Which is negative Nd being threatened to get kicked out of school. ( EVERY SINGLE ANNOUNCEMENT). Lindsey makes very racist comments and then laughs about it and walks away. Which I am not sure if she understands, so I just stay clear of her. Miss Angela is about the sweetest person you'll ever meet. Unfortunately you can tell she hasn't been in the education field very long, so although she's nice she doesn't teach much. she's so nice , she's wants to be your friend. She kinda search's all day for conversation and attention, so she follows you around and it's so uncomfortable. They also make you perform services that you do not have the proper equipment for such as pedicures. There are no proper pedicure bowls or pedicure seating you have to sit in a regular seat with a bucket. Then you have to put random customers feet on your legs. Now the worst part about the school is that they're an organized and unprofessional. In the five months I have seen at least three or four people that had to redo hours because Shayla has made an error. I've also seen past graduates have to come back in because Shayla has also made a mistake on their hours. In most cases can cost you money. Also they tell you one thing and then you do another thing the next day. I've been in college for three years and this school is nothing like anything I've experienced before. For my first two weeks I didn't even have a teacher. We had three different subs and only one knew what they were talking about. I am extremely sad and disappointed. Living in the inland empire there's not that many options and now that I'm already in this school I feel so stuck. Not only do they play with your money by not giving you your payments on time and failing to inform you. They play with your education. The owners girlfriend is a doctor, so they force us to watch these two hour long videos on all medical information, such as weight loss and dieting. As if you're not paying them to learn the things that are going to be on your test. Also they barely give you opportunities to be creative. The only opportunities you have to be creative is during competition, and every student is not allowed to participate. Please !!! maybe the other campuses are better but this one is complete trash and I have at least seven other students that are willing to make a statement about this. Especially the way Shayla speaks. Also, I called the upland office and spoke to EVET to see if I could get view the campus and she told me " Well I'll have to arrange that with Shayla". Then Shayla just sent me transfer papers as if I am going to transfer to there other campus blind sighted. The favoritism in this school is insane they make it so known when they don't like you, the attitude of the director Ms.linda here is insane, even the way she would talk to clients. Former student I left feeling unliked n unwelcome I felt constantly judged in not in a student teacher way in a personal way. Ms Kai, Ms D, and Ms RaShauna are the best part of this campus, always helpful and actually care about you and treat you with respect, and in turn they are really well respected, and they're the main reason I actually come to school despite oftentimes crying and panicking because of the stressful things there, they definitely makeup for the bad bits. I mostly keep to myself due to anxiety but other students are pretty chill I guess, and the clients have all been lovely and understanding that it's a school and we're all learning which helps make things less intimidating. It's a small campus as well, so that may be more ideal for someone needing a bit more one on one help but you're still able to be independent as well. read more

As much as I would like to give this place a higher rating, I would absolutely avoid coming to this school to get your hair done! The students are kind and welcoming but the school it self looks as though it hasn't been cleaned thoroughly! The floors are absolutely uncleaned and stained with what appears to be hair dye. Their sinks to wash your hair are VERY uncomfortable, I felt bad when the students had to apologize for the old equipment they need to use. To top it all off, when I went to the restroom I noticed that there were big COCKROACHES running around, I'm pretty sure I saw more cockroaches around the school. If this place made some upgrades and kept their school clean and bug free I'm sure they would have more clientele. This school has a Riverside location that I much rather make the drive to as it's better equipped to take clients and is kept very clean and pest free. read more

4 stars for Sade who actually did my hair and was lovely. But I have to take 2 stars away for the atrocious customer service the teaching staff displayed...precisely Ms Lindsay. From not greeting me with so much as a hello before requesting payment from me for the services that were about to be rendered to having a discussion over my head while I was being shampooed with my stylist about her not using her personal products on me. When I mentioned to Ms. Lindsay that they shouldn't have the conversation over me she told me that I was not her client, my stylist was..so apparently that means I needed to be quiet and sit there. It was downhill from there.. Ms. Lindsay is the absolute worst. In a later interaction I tried to relate my experience in Black hair salons and Ms. Lindsay attempted to advise me that she had plenty of experience with Black hair and added that her neice is Black...what that had to do with our conversation I don't know...it was completely uncalled for.. Regardless I will never go back and it didn't have anything to with the stylist. It was the horrible instructor. read more

Working at a salon that promises you training after you've graduated makes you apprecaite the help you get from your instructors , I've had the best experience here , and appreciate my instructors . Don't bother Don't bother considering this school to get your license for anything ! I graduated from here this year and I absolutely discourage anyone from considering it. I came in for nails and I had ms mayra as a teacher.. she sucked at teaching. And I can honestly say I am self taught because I learned nothing from her. And in general she was very childish and did not know how to take constructive criticism when it came to her teaching style. She was very unorganized with our schedule when it came to taking quizzes and test. And she would always fail to help us do better in our test. When we would take assessments she wouldn't even be in the room watching us.. she was in n out of the room not focusing on the students. And I don't see how that's fair if she would basically grade them on different days based off her memory. She didn't even give us a study review for our final ! And she had us take our final 2 days before we were supposed to complete our hours.. when we were supposed to take the final at least a week before graduating. The place is a school and affordable prices. I decided on going here had some bad experiences hair salons fantastic sams and supercuts at different locations. I usually pay 20 to 30 bucks sometimes 50 bucks on hair products and haircuts. The stylist are just tired or just don't care about there jobs. I went here paid 9.75 entrance and got a great haircut from Ashely gave her a nice tip. She was really cool. My hair is very short and blonde and I don't trust too many people working with my hair but I was in a rush to get my hair done for an event I had to attend. Jessica F is a student at salon success and she did such a great job at styling my hair she took her time and made me feel comfortable going to someone new. People tend to write reviews when they're still really happy, or really angry, so I waited a week. I've been to another Salon Success location, where I felt the emphasis was on gossiping rather than my hair... but not here. The Fontana location is relaxed, clean, and has a nice environment. Michelle gave me a cut, color and style (and with nearly waist-length hair, $50 total is a steal!) and I'm still really impressed with it. It just looks so good! The consultation was great, and definitely appreciated. I didn't feel like I had to have a conversation 100% of the time, but Michelle was still very personable, and the entire experience felt like a treat, rather than a chore. In regards to what Aubree W. claimed, as a student who started with you, and has been here throughout this whole pandemic process our teachers especially Ms. Shay have been great. So for you to miss a few months, and come back in with attitude Bc you expected to be on the floor servicing clients without finishing your training in the back as every student has done here wasn't appropriate. As a current student attending the Salon Success Fontana campus I can say that our teachers Ms. Angella, Ms. Lindsey and Ms. Shay are amazing teachers who've done nothing but their job to make us better as future cosmetologists. I'm truly sorry that your experience here didn't meet your expectations, but I see nothing wrong with a teacher doing her best to work with a student who hasn't been here for a few months, approaching her with attitude and expectations. As for the screenshots, Ms. Shay spoke/texted you the way she would to any other student. It's not personal. It's someone doing their job by letting you know what the school needs from you and answering all your questions to her best knowledge. I have been coming here for 2 years, and I love this campus! I have gotten ombre, cut, color change, just to name a few services and it's amazingly reasonably priced. I have been with several students and honestly some of the girls do a better job than a lot of "prestige" salons.
