The salon had great COVID precautions in place, including masks, waivers, plastic screens and increased disinfection efforts. Vanessa was kind, thorough and attentive. Booked an appointment online I rush to get there by 9:30.. checked in with receptionist 20 minutes later I ask if my hairstylist was running late .. come to find out the bright receptionist forgot to mention I was there !! Very frustrating! The receptionist was so concerned about her hair extensions!! Wow !! Also The website says $45.00 for the hairstylist level 1 which is what I booked ..today I see this charge for $69.00.. just a trim and my hair looked like a poodle !! I am SO happy to have found Hayley, and this lovely salon. Hayley is a whiz with curly hair - I've been looking for a stylist with her expertise for years! She carefully evaluated my hair, looked at the picture ideas I'd brought, and talked with me in depth about what I wanted for a style. She really took her time and made sure my hair came out great. She has specific cutting and styling techniques for curly hair, which she has learned in classes above and beyond her beauty school training. I'm a little late to review but I came here a few weeks back for a haircut, and thought Salon Sultry was review worthy! I frequent Grand Ave., and had seen Salon Sultry and thought I should give it a shot. I had gotten a terrible haircut elsewhere and was hoping (praying) that they had an opening. Cathy, the receptionist, was very sweet and accommodating. When we spoke, she was not sure if they would be able to get me in that day but that she would ask around and get back to me. Within the hour, Cathy called back and offered me an appointment with Rachel. It was nice to have someone tell me they'd call back and actually follow through (sometimes people don't)! So, thank you Cathy! As for Rachel, she was amazing. Very kind, and easy to talk to. She knew exactly what to do to get my hair back to its former glory and I couldn't be more appreciative. I just paid more than $100 for the worst hair cut that I've ever had. I had a great experience the first time, but the second time, my stylist screwed up my hair by accidentally cutting my bangs too short. My hair turned out to be completely different from the image I showed her, looking absolutely unflattering. I've been so depressed and avoiding looking at the mirror since then. I was in need of emergency color correction after having my dark hair bleached (and botched) at another salon. I chose Salon Sultry based off of others' online reviews. I called and spoke with the receptionist, Kathy, and she quickly found me a spot that morning with Nicole. When I got there I was greeted by Kathy opening the door for me and offering me something to drink (water, tea, coffee, etc.). The salon was very pretty, mostly decorated mostly in black and turqoise. It was extremely clean and organized. When Nicole was ready for me, she asked me lots of questions about what I wanted my hair to look like, what the other salon had done to it, etc. I have naturally very dark brown/black hair, and I wanted an ombre done. The other salon bleached my hair extremely close to my scalp. There was no blend, either. It looked like my roots just hadn't been done in a long time. Nicole beautifully blended more browns and dark blondes into my hair. She was able to fix my hair and make it look natural and gorgeous. First visit to Salon Sultry today. I had put off that hair cut for waaaaaaaaaaay too long and so I jumped in again to another new salon. This one is close to home and there was no color involved. I called sort of last minute yesterday to schedule for today and Kimberly was the stylist available. The salon was hoping when I arrived today, everyone was busy and the location itself was clean. I was offered a beverage but I had brought my own and when Kimberly finished up with her previous client, we got started. Kimberly is friendly and experienced and we talked about what I needed and she seemed to get what I was looking for. She recommended a pretty extensive cut, which I knew I needed, so I agreed. She started off with a wash and she did a great job with the wash... much better than my last experience. WHEW! She chop chop chopped and then styled my hair and cleaned it up when I was styled. I was very happy with everything about my visit, including my cut and style. I liked Kimberly and the salon. The cost was $40. I definitely plan on returning when I'm ready for my next hair needs. I had a great experience here. I wanted to wait awhile before giving my review, because I wanted to see how my hair did once I was out of the salon caring for it in my usual way. I'm a "wash and wear" kind of girl, so I find that sometimes my hair can look fine after a haircut once they've coaxed it into position, but then look very different once I get home. I haven't been too happy with my last couple haircuts (at chain places), so I wanted to try someplace nice, with a good reputation. This place did the trick! My hair was cut very well, with really nice layers put in. The experience was nice, too--I was offered a beverage of choice when I came in, and everyone was very friendly. The place was clean and cutely decorated. There was no wait at all for my appointment. The only small gripe I have is the price-- I was rather shocked when the cost came to more than $50 (including tip) for a simple haircut. I'm used to paying $20-$30. But, I just need to get used to the price of quality, I suppose! Better start saving up for the next one. ;) read more

The experience is fantastic. The owner (I believe) greets and checks you in when you arrive, and then offers you any type of beverage. I promptly receive my coffee and have never had to wait more than 2 minutes to get my appointment started. Lydia is fantastic and had great suggestions for my hair type. This salon is FANTASTIC! Its beautiful CLEAN and so spacious! The staff is very friendly and clean also. They have taken great measures to ensure safety and cleanliness since their reopening after COVID. I was impressed how well they handled everything and how enjoyable the experience still was during this crazy time!
