I've been coming to Salon Tusey for haircuts for years. Even after I have moved away for college and then grad school, I have been making the ~300 mile round-trip to get my haircuts at Salon Tusey (because my attempts to find a replacement hair salon has always resulted in frustration and/or tears. My mother always said "once you find a hair stylist you love, you don't cheat on them; otherwise your hair will freak out". Being the scientist I am, I thought she was just being superstitious and found out she was right the hard way. Thankfully the stylists at Salon Tusey have always been able to correct the God-awful, choppy haircuts I'd gotten elsewhere.) I have always left this place glowing with happiness. This Thanksgiving break, I've made sure to pay a visit to Salon Tusey while I am in the area. I've been feeling the need for a change, something refreshing after the gloominess of 2020, though I didn't know what I really wanted. I have been obsessively looking at hairstyles on pinterest for weeks without being able to commit to anything when I finally showed up at my appointment. Although I've always been happy with the junior stylists here, this time I'd been saving for something special and decided to splurge by getting a haircut from the master hairstylist Seyfi. Oh boy, was it worth it. Seyfi is the epitome of professionalism, courtesy and a hair-therapist. Let's be honest ladies; a true professional hair stylist knows he's also a therapist. Even though I didn't tell him anything of that sort, I SWEAR he felt from my aura that I have been wanting to make serious lifestyle changes. He examined my hair, suggested some ombre/highlights since it was healthy and I'd never really colored it before and declared "everything will be different for Haley from now on". I'm telling you, it was exactly what I needed. I got my ombre and I was feeling very good except for one thing: even though I had approved of a pretty striking highlight in the front, I wasn't exactly thrilled about it. OMG ladies, Seyfi just sensed that I didn't like the highlight in the front and darkened it before I had to say a single word!!! I am telling you; epitome of a professional hair-therapist. (PS:You should 100% communicate your needs/wants to your hairstylist and not expect them to be psychics. I just wanted to mention Seyfi's talent here because I was impressed by how in-tune he is to his clients' feelings/facial expresions.) I left that hair salon feeling like I could conquer the world! Best confidence boost ever. One more thing I just HAVE TO mention here. I've been religiously following the curly girl method for months now. (Hello to my fellow CGM-sisters!). I was hesistant about getting it blowdried here because I didn't want to lose the months of progress I made trying to get my hair to curl more. When I told him that, he used a high-end heat protectant on my hair before he blowdried it. (I got it blowdried not once, but twice (two days apart) for a special occasion and passport photos. Ladies, Seyfi must have used the highest quality products because my curls bounced right back as soon as I washed my hair. No bleach/heat damage. Nada. Just bouncy, juicy curls... AND my curls are more apparent now thanks to the highlights. I am now a life-long Salon Tusey + Seyfi-devotee. If I lived close to the area, I'd visit at least once a month. Ladies, please please please support this hair salon during the COVID-19 pandemic. We need this place to stay open. I don't even want to imagine having to find another hairstylist. We all need to feel confident going to get a haircut/color knowing we will leave that salon feeling like a billion bucks! read more

I'm not one to write reviews, but I had to vouch for this salon to help others like me who have severe OCD & Germophobia. You can trust this salon even during COVID. I've been strictly quarantining at home since March 2020, afraid to get my haircut/color despite desperately needing one. (I am in the high risk category). My cousin and grand daughter have been going to this salon for years and they highly recommended it. I thought I couldn't possibly trust anyone to touch my hair when there is a global pandemic going on, my granddaughter convinced me that this place was safe, seeing how the salon had been spotless, from the bathroom to the trashcans, every time she visited. When my roots grew unbearably long, I finally decided to trust her judgement. To be honest, I was still a bit hesitant when I walked inside, with my N95 mask on, of course. The hairstylist Seyfi, who also had an N95 mask on, cleaned my station with lysol before I sat down. (At this point, my heart started doing a little dance with joy!) While he was doing my hair, a family came and sat at the waiting area. Later when another client arrived and attempted to sit near them, Seyfi prompted her to sit at the station 2 chairs down from mine, to preserve social distancing. I was really impressed by this point, but wait, it gets better! While I was waiting for the hair-dye to work inside those aluminum things, Seyfi began styling another one of the client's hair. At some point, (I think when Seyfi needed to color this woman's sideburns area), she had to take her mask off so Seyfi could do his job. After Seyfi was done working with the hair by the ears, this lady didn't put her mask back on for a while. Thankfully, Seyfi would not take it and politely insisted that she put her mask back on until she did. I was relieved to see how meticulous Seyfi was with hygiene and how he kept all public health measures in place as much as possible. Sorry for the long saga, but if you are a germophobe like me, I highly recommend this salon. read more

After 20 years of having Seyfi as a hairdresser, I think I am uniquely qualified to write this review. I started going to Seyfi in 1998 before he had Salon TuSey, and despite the fact that I moved to Florida in 2005, I still flew back to have him do my hair. I now live in Durham, NC and it is a quick flight or longer drive, but I make a weekend out of it and visit old friends. It sounds crazy, but honestly, after the trauma of trying salon after salon, Seyfi and Turgut are the best at what they do. That's not to say I haven't had some good stylists, I have, but they're only good enough to hold me over until I can get back to Maryland. To spare myself repeated mistakes and crying fits, I just go to Salon TuSey every 10-12 weeks. My mom and sister met me there last month and I now have two other friends who travel with me from Durham because Seyfi is THAT GOOD, especially if you have thick, course, unruly hair like ours. He can cut in a way that allows you to wear it curly and not look like Bozo the Clown and Phyllis Diller had a baby, or blow dry it straight and look like you belong to this decade's hair trends. For the life of me I can't understand why no one else can cut and color the way Seyfi does. I suppose it's a gift like any artist, and signature talent is very hard to replicate. I really can't say enough about the salon, and, while I don't believe in anything enough to put a bumper sticker on my car, I felt strongly this was a long-term commitment I believe in so this is my first-ever yelp review. First, a few general things about the salon. It has many early appointments, not just evening or late afternoon, so this is great for shift workers. Salon is welcoming environment and kept clean. Scheduling an appointment was easy and communication is excellent. They made sure clients were greeted and comfortable during shampoo and all wait times. Everyone here was friendly and professional. Now, the cut! Seyfi is fabulous. He is a super friendly, nice person. He listens carefully and helps guide you to a style that you really will love. He's not afraid to let clients take a little risk, but has the eye to find what is going to flatter. He's willing to take his time to get to know the client and then give his best advice. Besides this, he was extremely attentive to every step and detail, from checking in during conditioning treatment and color process, to a very last check with hair dried to be sure it was cut perfectly and looked 110%. I really recommend giving him a call if your hair needs help! I've heard good things about all artists here, so give this salon a try whatever your schedule. My husband and I recently moved to Maryland and are thrilled to have received such excellent hair care from Seyfi Yavuzer at Salon Tusey in Clarksville. This is my husband's second visit, and my first and I was very impressed from beginning to end! Seyfi listened carefully to what I had to share about my hair, how much I'd like trimmed (2 inches on a bob style cut!). He was thoughtful and careful enough to ask again, right before beginning to trim, if I was ready for him to start. I was, and he did a fantastic job. Bob's are not an easy cut, especially with my thick and sometimes wavy hair. He was careful and took more time than my previous hair stylists in NC took and this was evident in the end result. My hair looks great! Seyfi used expert techniques that only a few, excellent stylists have used on me in the past and I am so grateful we found him. He's a great stylist. As I entered the Salon for my very first appointment the environment was so calming and welcoming. The Salon is so clean and inviting, the staff greeted me so professionally. Their salon is state of the art as well as their profession. I had recent neck surgery and shared this with one of the staff members who was setting me up to have my hair washed. She immediately accommodated me with a special device that they use to support your neck during the hair wash and that was amazing as I had no pain during this process. My hair cut appointment with Seyfi and he did a fabulous job on cutting and styling my hair!!!!! As I explained to him what I was look for he knew exactly what I wanted and I was very happy. I walked in with a bad hair day and left with a beautiful refreshing hair cut and style. I look forward to my next visit with Seyfi. I received many compliments with my new hair cut. The best hair stylist I've ever had! I came to Salon Tusey about 3 years ago for the first time, and they've been my main hairdresser since then. I'm very particular about hairdressers, but Tusey was very easy to click with. Every hairdresser in this salon is extremely professional. They understand what you want to be done to your hair -- and I think it's a rarity in itself. It's been really hard for me to find a stylist who actually listens AND understand what I want. More often then not, I have left a hairdresser not completely happy with my hair. But I've never experienced this at Tusey; I am always happy with how my hair turns out, and I always get compliments about how natural my highlights are and how healthy my hair looks. This is why I don't mind driving from Gaithersburg. I highly recommend this place!! read more

This salon and stylist Murat Dogan were recommended to me by a friend as my normal hair stylist remained closed during COVID-19. My hair has been bleached for the last several years as I like to color my hair with a variety of fun reds, coppers, and sunshiny orange/blondes. Murat was able to transform my hair into an amazingly healthy brown with blonde highlights. My hair color has so many dimensions and looks amazing when the light hits it. I also got a Brazilian blowout and have received so many compliments not only on the color and cut, but on how healthy and shiny my hair is. This was my second time at Salon Tusey after going 1 1/2 years between cuts. I tried them in 2021 when my previous salon closed. The salon and the owner (and my stylist, Seyfi) have earned a long time customer. The attention and care from greeting at the door, shampooing, cut and styling were exceptional. I felt appreciated (very appreciated) and respected. If having a wonderful experience isn't enough, I received an amazing haircut which I left up to the discretion of the stylist. I have been coming to Salon Tusey for 7 years now and I recommend to all my friends. I love love love this place! When I walk in, I explain to Seify what I want and he always reads my mind... no, he does magic to my hair better than I imagine. I have cut my hair short, with layers, highlights, colored, you name it. I'm not afraid to try anything because he always does a great job! I have been going to Seyfi for 16 years this year, even before Salon Tusey was opened. I think longevity says a lot about someone. I, like other women care about what i look like and hair is a big deal. He is a total "hair god!" Very caring, very good at what he does. The shop and the people who work there also care about their customers. While waiting for my highlights and color to take hold i watch them do hair, they pride themselves on their work. I recently moved from Washington DC to Highland. I googled best hair salon and stylist and found Salon Tusey and Seyfi. I made my appointment; Seyfi cut my hair and it was one of the best haircuts I have ever had in my life. I have been to all the high end salons in Washington and they do not come close to Mr. Seyfi. I have 60 year old colored and coarse hair and this guy did an amazing job. I have only found 3 stylist in my lifetime that has given a great cut and he is one of them. I used to drive to Washington D.C to get my hair done......until I met Seyfi years ago. He has been cutting, coloring, and highlighting my hair for about about 7-8 years. He also does my son, daughter, and my sister's hair as well. Seyfi is the best, does a great job, and I honestly feel each time I am more pleased. I have been going to Salon Tusey for many years - it is my neighborhood hair salon and Murat always does a fantastic job with my color and highlights as well as giving a blow dry for those special nights out I especially love the friendliness of all the staff as well as their flexibility to accommodate me ( sometimes same day). I also bring my young teenage son to him and he always leaves the salon looking a little cooler than when he entered From a Covid standpoint the salon is spacing and often had the doors open for cross ventilation which increases my comfort level. read more

Murat is a phenomenal hairstylist! His ability to cut, color, and style hair rivals the hairstyles on Hollywood actresses. His friendly and kind disposition also makes for a pleasant time. Moreover, he is a technician who knows how to properly blow dry coarse, curly hair into smooth, straight hair.
