Great experience at Salon Tusey. I was looking around for places that offered Keratin/Brazilian Blowout treatments. I decided to go with Salon Tusey after reading reviews. I scheduled my appointment with Seyfi over the phone, and had my Brazilian blowout treatment done by Ali. He was very friendly and helpful when helping me decide between the BB and Keratin treatments, based on the outcome I was looking for. The whole process was so efficient, and he was able to get me in and out exactly at the time he estimated, about an hour. And he gave me a great haircut that finally evened out my ends and helped with making my hair look healthier. @#%*#&!! I had really high hopes for my first visit to Salon Tusey, but came away very upset that neither the cut nor the color I got were what I asked for. Despite my having tried to communicate *very clearly* about the color (I showed 5 photos) and the length (I work outside and my one instruction was that my hair has to be long enough to pull back into a ponytail) I ended up with something I didn't want. Never in my life have I had salon results be so different from what I expected. Before I sat down Seyfi asked how much hair I wanted taken off. I said 1-2 inches, and he cut off a piece right away while my hair was still dry. I thought that was a smart thing to do, since hair shrinks up when it dries and he made a cutting guide for after my hair was wet. But after the color and wash he kept cutting...and cutting...and even after the blow dry he took out thinning shears and cut a bunch more! (I HATE thinning shears.) My hair now barely touches my shoulders and is 3-4 inches shorter. I asked for my grey hair to be blended in rather than covered. All of the photos I showed him had dark and light sections of hair, but he only asked if I wanted my hair lighter or darker. The correct answer was BOTH, and perhaps I should have asked for highlights AND lowlights. But it's strange that he didn't suggest the option. I sort of trusted him it would work out. It didn't. My long, wavy, untamed locks are now a shoulder length bob and I look like a damn Soccer Mom. My hair texture is coarse, and the thinning shears made too many layers that will pouf out like crazy in the summer humidity. I'm already beyond frustrated, spending all day tucking my hair behind my ears because the sides are too short to stay in a ponytail. I recognize that a bad salon experience is a First World problem, and I do think Seyfi has skills. It is a fine cut and color for someone who wanted a short blond bob! But he didn't listen to me. For what a salon cut and color (plus nice tip for stylist and washer) costs, I should have gotten what I requested. I'm hugely upset and thought about going back to have him fix it - but he can't glue my hair back on so there's nothing to do but wait weeks and months for my hair to grow out while I look like someone not-me, and decide if I want to pay someone else to add lowlights. And write this review so maybe others won't have an experience like mine. read more

I went to Salon Tusey on a recommendation from a friend who has been a loyal client with them for many years. I went there wanting to basically do a touch up on my red lowlights and my blonde highlights and get a haircut. I ended up with some pink patches and bright red sections in other parts of my hair. The stylist really didn't talk to me about the color so I was shocked and it being my first time I was a little nervous to say anything. I contacted the owner after getting home and he told to come back so it could be fixed. The pink is gone but my hair is much blonder then I wanted. I appreciate them trying to fix it. I love my haircut but the color is just not what I wanted and so I'm feeling a little bit disappointed. Like I said they did try to fix it to make me happy but in the end failed. Update 3/9/19 - tried to get a refund on hair because I'm just not happy with the results and the experience was not a good one. Owner stated they don't give refunds. Offered conditioning treatment which I declined. I went there with high expectations and thought I was dealing with professionals but in the end that wasn't the case and now I get to live with their mistake. Not happy and will not be going back. I usually go to a high end salon in DC for my hair needs but have recently moved north. I've been dreading the commute so much that I put off getting a haircut for months. My hair got crazy! It was time for an intervention. I heard about Salon Tusey through a friend and decided to give it a chance. I met with Murat and am glad I did! There is a bit of a language barrier so I highly recommend bringing a photo or two to show him exactly what you want so that nothing gets lost in translation. I did this and he delivered! He seems quite the perfectionist. He took his time trying to understand what I wanted and made sure I was happy with the work done. I really appreciated that. Did a great job with hair cut and coloring previously but botched the Brazilian blow out. Seyfi did the Brazilian blow out. Applied the product very quickly and instead of ironing in small segments , ironed in thick segments. Which is not the the way it is done per the Brazilian blow out web site, And according to the Brazilian blowout website they have to rinse the hair with warm water after and apply a masque and blow dry. Which was not done. I was told to rinse the hair in 24-48 hrs and use a bonding spray which was sold to me for $30 and blow dry. And needless to say the new hair near the scalp is back to being frizzy in one month but the lower hair which still had the effect of the keratin from 6 months ago is still relatively straight.. My hair now feels like sand paper at the top. I followed the post blow our precautions and used the Brazilian blow out official products. I would recommend a hair cut and color at this place but never the Brazilian blow out . I have had keratin done for 10 years and this is the first botched job I have had. read more

I have to say the entire experience and service met all my expectations and beyond. He was a great listener and I was so pleasantly surprised how quickly he picked up exactly what I was looking for after only a few minutes of knowing me. I was nervous because I haven't dyed my hair in 15 years so I wanted something very natural and subtle but still fresh and noticeable. i never write reviews but this experience is too unacceptable to brush off & my google review seems to be deleting automatically from their page so it makes me wonder how many bad reviews they've actually gotten & that if i had seen it, i'd probably been saved from the atrociousness. anyway, i've been to this salon before & was satisfied with the way Seyfi cut my hair. so when i decided to go blonde again, despite the heavy handedness, i decided to go light with him. !!!!!!! WARNING: the five star reviews are very inviting. i've gone to another stylist in a different area when i went blonde 2 years ago & i came out with 0 damages that included a free consultation (3 visits total) knowing what to expect in the process, i explained what's been done with my hair in the past but he didn't seem to care about the details & just wanted to know how light i wanted to go. fast forward to the blow dry & cut part, while on the chair, he told me there were "no" damages. WHY try to hide the fact that there's been damages to my hair??? ended up paying full price but ultimately came back to complain about the issue that was resolved with $100 refund. Despite this though, NO MONEY CAN EVER TAKE BACK THE DAMAGES DONE. i've never experienced this much incompetence with stylists i've gone to. this salon was much closer to me now & ig that means i'll just have to drive farther to the good few stylists in MD. my hair was very healthy prior to this experience. have done soo many diff styles & color with ZER0 damages... no full refund or $100 + free deep conditioning mask --(vasso) that's prob no good either, will ever give me back my healthy hair that i should've trusted someone else with. i'd much rather have my dark healthy hair than this light hair of a mess. p.s. considering i was a "first time" customer, he had other clients he was attending to & never went to check on how fast my hair was progressing under the foils, UNDER heat!! he had his store cleaner shampoo & wash off the bleach instead... never experienced that form of neglect anywhere either. SMH! had he done it himself, he'd probably see the damage sooner rather than later. either way, he wouldn't have told me bcs i had to find out the damages myself anyway. I was desperate for a cut, like, fantasizing about taking my own scissors to my hair, yikes -- and was surprised to be able to get in same day -- especially since, while it was there, at least 3 other clients called to make reservations with them! Seyfi managed to deal with all of it with aplomb -- he'd been doing color and foils on one client when I arrived, and had his assistant wash my hair -- thorough and relaxing -- and then was able to get to me with all his attention. He double and triple checked my length preference before cutting, and afterward asked me to please contact him if I decide I need more layers or have any other concerns. My cut and color are what I had asked my former hairdresser for but was told my base color wouldn't allow what I wanted and the cut I wanted wouldn't work with my sometimes frizzy hair. He and the others at the salon are friendly and helpful and his prices are less than I had been paying. Seyfi convinced me to get a Brazilian Blowout to deal with my humidity frizzy hair and that was a great decision. The new product is vastly improved over those from a few years ago. This salon is a great find! I have been using this salon for about two years. Seyfi cuts and colors my hair the best I have experienced. From professional colorists to great updos and hair cuts, this salon does it all. I wanted an ashy ombré that I've been shopping at different salons for and no one was able to achieve it. I used to go to Brocatos Studio in Canton but no one was able to give me that ashy ombré I've been dreaming of. Seyfi and Murat got it down in 1 visit and my hair wasn't even fried. I don't typically leave reviews, however, I was very impressed with Seyfi's kind demeanor, professionalism, and his ability to transform my hair. The Brazilian blowout he suggested really has my hair very healthy and shiny. After working out, there is very little maintenance. He did my color today, and I am again very pleased with the results. I offered little feedback, and he was able to work with it and really find the color/highlight to match my skin. It's classy with a little edge, just the way I like it. Not impressed with this salons customer service at all. I have gone there before and service was great. But this year every visit I had with them it was very disappointing. Did not listen to what I wanted. Did their own thing. And I asked to cut only 1inch of my hair and 3 inches we're cut off! And bc I told them I was unhappy I was told to find a new salon. read more
