This salon is soooo overrated.. I went last week walk in and with all the great yelp reviews I expected the salon to live up to its hype.. I've had friends who go to a couple stylists there. As I sat down I began to watch everyone around me I soon discovered the lack of genuine stylists there. They where making faces at each other behind each others backs and also saying the most rudest comments I have ever heard. the boss Is all over the place looking disheveled as can be... the older gentlemen there was the worse of them all making snooty remarks as the receptionist girl was walking from the front to the back of the shop. That right there made me so uncomfortable. If they treat their employees like that and talk about them like that I can only Imagine what its like to work there or to be a client of theirs as well.. Ill come back to that part.. As I was sitting there I also heard stories about the last 2 receptionists that where fired from there. THAT IS SO UNPROFESSIONAL. I was so uncomfortable as I sat there listening to them bash people who aren't there to defend themselves. With that being said I went to the restroom and as I walked by the break room I overheard AGAIN them bashing a client im assuming. They stated that she was "Annoying" and also that she got on her stylists nerves then I heard them mimic the persons voice.. ALL WITHIN A 15 MIN time frame. After the restroom I left the salon so glad I didn't see the receptionst in the front of the salon because I did not want to tell her about the horrible experience I had not even siting in anyones chair. As far as the prices that's where they really get you. RIDICIOLUS $45 for a trim and over a $100 for a color/cut service. I looked at the pictures posted online and they are nothing or honestly just good filters because when I was in there and seen a couple clients finished results I couldn't see where and why they would pay so much money for a barley noticeable change. If you like spending your hard earned money on people who consider you a bother then by all means go there. if I could a zero rating I really would! im telling all my friends and family and ive already posted about this on all my social medias, hopefully people don't continue wasting their money on this miserable group of people who have lost their love of hair and for the common respect for people . read more

Ale Caballero is amazing. What a great colorist. I got really lucky today as a walk-in (April 1st) , because she had a cancellation and had time for me. I would recommend making an appointment if you are not willing to chance it, like I did. The shop was busy the whole time i was there, however everyone was in a chair getting worked on. No one waited. Great atmosphere and all of the stylist spoke to me and were pleasant. One guy even did some booty shaking dancing while he worked. It made me smile and relaxed me a bit. I was nervous because i have always colored my own hair, and it showed. Bleach blonde with dark roots. Yuck. Ale was great. I have really long hair and she didnt even hesitate to take me on. I asked for a boliage with coffee low lights so that I could still be blonde without the harsh root growth. I will try to add before and after pics. I love it and i feel amazing. I also bought some products, but I never felt any pressure for an up sale. Ale took about 3 hours with me and again I can't speak highly enough of her. She gave me exactly the look I was hoping for and before I left, even the customers were complimenting my hair. I will defiantly be back. Oh, and they gave me a $10 discount because I was a new customer. Love this place. Oh, and my boyfriend really liked the results. read more

Came to Salon VIP on December 27, 2017 and I'm a little passed over due on my review, lol. I am originally from Honolulu, Hawaii and came to Arizona to visit my cousins for 2 weeks. I knew I wanted to get my hair done when I got there so I searched up some salons close to Tolleson, which where my cousins live. I came across Salon Vip and looked through all the photos and was BEYOND IMPRESSED by all the stylists's work. Especially Alé. I followed her on instagram and scheduled an appointment right away. It was actually my first time doing my hair professionally done. In the past, I would always use boxed colors. I'm happy I found Alé because I absolutely fell in love with how my hair turned out. It was the color I wanted and I loved how the balayage looked. She's also the sweetest! I recommend Alé if you ever want to get a balayage hairstyle. It's been more than 2 months since I got my hair done and my hair still looks very good! I wish I could fly back to Arizona on a weekend and get my hair done again with her because I totally would! Honestly, she is the only person I can trust with my hair. Sadly, I need to look for a new hairstylist here at home and hope that they're just as good as Alé. read more

I am so blessed that I met Angel at salon VIP! I am extremely particular about my hair, to the point if I have to drive 5 hours to go to someone, I trust, I will. Just to be clear, I would drive 5 hours for Angel to do my hair. He can make your look look great and NATURAL...he takes special care in your color profile and your individual needs. He is quite the artist. He's particular about making you look perfect and is always looking at new and exciting things to keep your look managed well. I trust his judgement and expertise implicitly...for purposes of this review, I am pleased to report that I get a lot of compliments about my hair!:) The atmosphere of the salon is relaxing and friendly. Good music and then there's Claudia at the front desk who takes excellent care of you too and treats you like you're a friend. Straight hair, no body, challenging cowlicks. I finally found Marita, who was trained in Europe. My hair has never looked better. For many months she suggested I let her do a 'firewall' but I resisted. A firewall in salon talk is cutting a short narrow line of hair to about 1/2 inch. What this does is push up the hair above it and Voila, you have height! I am so glad I finally decided to try it. It has made a huge difference. This cut in bad hands could be disastrous, but Marita is an expert. I also like that when I walk in, the 1st thing that happens is that I sit in her chair and she asks how the cut worked from the last visit. She listens and tells me what she will try differently, if necessary. She also has European sinks for washing your hair. They are so much more comfortable on your neck than what other salons have. Think about this when you get your hair washed. The staff is friendly, the shop is spotless and there's plenty of free parking. read more

This salon was amazing!! I had gotten a haircut from Val and she did perfect, I had gotten exactly what I wanted!! Before starting anything she had asked me my main concerns, and what I was mainly looking for. Instead of just saying she understood, she really took the time to show me lengths and parts of my hair to make sure that she really understood. Before cutting anything, she checked with me then moved on. Aswelll as when using products in my hair she had explained to me exactly what it does, etc. I've been soo scared to get my hair cut for several of months now but I can say I'll definitely be going back to her with no hesitation. Her prices are great and she exceeds my expectations. I felt beyond comfortable with the time and my money spent as she caries a beautiful vibe instead of just "working." About a month ago I went to a nearby salon that had tons of positive reviews on Yelp... and was HORRIBLY disappointed. Come to find out they gave huge discounts to anyone who put a positive review on Yelp, but they didn't give me at all what I asked for in cut or color. I have a family reunion this weekend and couldn't go looking like the slob that I did with scraggly, uneven colored hair. I called Salon VIP YESTERDAY and they had an opening today and fit me right in. Erica was my hair dresser and she listened to what I wanted and delivered all that and more. She seemed to know exactly what I was looking for without me having to over explain it and turned my mousy colored, stringy hair into a cute, rich, 'do! I have been getting compliments non-stop all day. I should have taken more of her cards to hand out! The service was great, prices were VERY reasonable, and Erica was extremely friendly. I was in the shopping plaza with my husband, saw the salon and thought of running over to see if I could get in for a hair cut. The hours weren't posted on the door so I walked in (seeing the door was open) around 6pm and asked their hours. I was told it was closed but Erica offered to cut my hair anyway! I know how it can be at the end of a long day but she was so awesome and said she didn't mind and she took her time doing an AMAZING JOB! She wanted to make sure that the cut was how I was wanting it and communicated with me through the whole process. I am so grateful for her willingness to stay late and for her care and kindness. I would just like to say that I love this salon. The staff is so welcoming and nice. They give great energy and definitely do their job well. I've been here for about 6 months now. Erica normally cuts my hair and she definitely cuts it exactly how I like it. Recently I had to reschedule an appointment with Filiberto. He as well is fantastic and got the cut I wanted to the hair. I highly recommend this place. They are so friendly and don't make awkward conversation like most salons I been to. It feels like your sitting at a friends house and getting a great hair cut. LOVE Salon VIP! Been a loyal client for over 6years (with now owner Erica). The salon has a wonderful vibe and chic decor. Everyone at salon VIP are always so welcoming and no matter how long it's been you feel part of their "family". The set up of stations is awesome while your sitting getting beautified you also get to look around and see all of the artistic skills of the other stylist, enjoy music and take part in all the friendly jokes and cross talk! I'm overly picky about my hair, but took a chance on making a first-time appointment as I was looking for something closer to home, & I did NOT walk away disappointed! I was desperate for some help w/my dried out hair, & I was so thankful when Marita came to my rescue!
