Decided to book with Flaunt for blowouts on the morning of the wedding. Two having blowouts done: one with long hair and one with just-above-shoulder-length layered hair. Two different stylists worked while I watched (just along for the ride, I guess). Long hair blowout looked good. Nicely done and flattering. Shorter, layered hair was quite the challenge. I watched as the stylist tried and tried, kept adding more gels and products and then tried again. Hair got stiffer and stiffer . . . and when she was done, it didn't look a whole lot different from when we walked in, other than it was plastered in place. This is not just a blow dry bar, this is a full-service salon. The majority of the customers getting blowouts here did have longer hair, or hair that was cut to one length. The layers must have really thrown the stylist off . . . which is weird. The following day, I was told it took two separate deep shampoos to get all of the junk out of her hair. Wow, if that had been me, I would have rated this place with several less stars. Only reason they get 3 stars is because the one stylist did do a nice job on the long hair, and I will give Flaunt credit for that.

I gave reference photos that had a picture of bangs maybe an inch above the eyebrows,, and she cut my bangs so short it's less than an half an inch from my scalp. she did ask if she could go shorter to layer the hair but I said yes but not very much extra. I also said I didn't want products and she put a thickening powder in my hair after I had asked for that part to be thinned out with scissors. after she finished she said "I give free bang trims, this is will look better the next cut" it's going to take months to grow my bangs back out so I can even just style them without having to lay them down with a headband. I can't even use a flat iron she cut the under part of the hair shorter than the top layer of the bangs. it makes no sense. paid and said thank you. everyone was also very rude and standoffish. there was 4 staff at the front when I walked in and they acted like I brought in a gun the way they gawked at me. no one even said hello I had to say I had an appointment at noon for someone to tell me I had been checked in. I would have just appreciated being told you don't feel comfortable doing the haircut

PRESSURE-BASED CONSENT…read more I HIGHLY do not recommend this salon. Would give 0 if I could. I chose this salon because I'm pregnant and wanted the low toxins even though my OB said it's fine for me to be around the dye in the second trimester. I came in after my hair was a deep red color from a salon doing it. I asked for them to do a color correction and really just move me more away from red and closer to my natural (I showed her pics and told her my natural has a bit of red already. I just didn't want the vibrant red). Still swore to me up and down she could get me there. Kailey started with a conditioning treatment, washing my hair and other things and as I was under the heat lamps, tells me to sign the paperwork and gives me the price. $360. What was I going to do at this point under the heat lamps? Refuse to sign their no refund and say no to the cost and leave with product in my hair? This is called pressure-based consent. She started on my hair- what was a decent red (just wanted a bit of my natural hair back in it) And it turned orange and blotchy. I understand that, that vibrant red is a process. My hormones may be affecting the color. I can't keep going to different people who don't know my hair. I signed a no refund agreement. So there are things I know I did not do correctly. But my first biggest mistake was not running. She did a choppy job. I would have stayed with the red-which like I said was fine, just not what I wanted then be orange and choppy. If she was honest up front and said, hey I am going to try but it may look like xyz, then I would have been okay with it. But promising me she can get me to my natural, was not the move. Now I will give it to Kailey-she was kind and explained what she did wrong and then the manager called me. I said, "I will just call my bank" she said, "You signed the waiver and you don't want to do that because we will pull your no refund agreement and have to fight it and we've done that before with another client" I told her Kailey said "if you're not wanting a refund and prefer a refund I'll reach out to my manager/owner." When I told her that she said, "I read your messages and you said refund first." Which I did, but why respond that way and why start on my hair and THEN tell me to sign it all? Again, pressure based consent/ soft cohesion. She told me to stop going to different people to do my hair- which I agree with and should have NEVER went to them regardless of "nontoxic chemicals". I went back to my salon I went to most of my 20's. She said this isn't even cut straight and she was in shock at how blotchy, orange, and bad it looked. She got me to my natural in one sitting for $95 and then I will have a touch up in a few weeks. Although the willow was overly nice, I feel like pricing+consent timing is something they need to work on and communication after the fact. Not put you in a position you feel like you have to pay for something you won't even actually get. They refuse to do a refund but offered to "fix it". So I've had 3 Brazilian blow outs. Last one was 6 months ago. I've decided to just learn how to make my natural wave look better. Someone recommended Abigail Poole with The Willow an Organic Concepts Salon. I had an appt with her today! She tested a strand of my hair and said I was lacking protein so I need a strengthening shampoo and conditioner. Haven't picked one yet, they have some options at the salon. She also said we should be shampooing our hair twice to make sure scalp is clean, this will help going longer without oily hair. A clarifying shampoo is important! They have some with charcoal that you can use daily that don't strip your hair of natural oils. She went step by step in the process of what type of products to use after washing my hair and told me not to squeeze out all the water from my hair. She should me when mop scrunch and when to rake product and how to section it. Also the best way to use a diffuser. My hair has NEVER looked like it does today lol. I can also train my hair to spiral! It's more curly at the root than the ends most likely from the brazillian blow outs. The pics are from when it was still a little damp. You don't dry it all the way and add oil so it won't get frizzy. Learned so much!!! These are organic products that smell amazing. Also got a small bottle of pureology leave in conditioner. They were out of the full size.

You are greeted as soon as you walk in the door and they even offered a glass of wine! I think my favorite thing about this new space is that their hair washing bowls are actually comfortable. You don't feel like your neck is being strained at all. You can just sit back and relax into the hair wash. Also, the products they use smell absolutely divine. I can't help but keep smelling my hair after I leave! I also super appreciate Nicole and her service. I have scalp psoriasis and it can be embarrassing when you go to get your hair done. She is so kind and absolutely put me at ease when I told her I was having a flair up. I cannot recommend Nicole or the salon more. This a wonderful, inviting and caring place to come relax and get a fabulous haircut!

What a great day today turned out to be. Our adventure started shortly after noon and one of the…read moremany stops was M Salon. I booked a same day haircut appointment online and arrived at the salon around 2:15. The salon is located to the left of Charleston's on Broadway. The entry doors open to a small foyer with two chairs and hand sanitizer. The salon entry is to the left. Once inside, there was ample space for movement with an open concept. I was greeted when I approached the counter and checked in. The lady with the pink hair and big smile let Alex know we had arrived and I was updated that Alex was a little behind. Our appointment started about fifteen minutes late but we were in no hurry. You can't rush perfection and it's three days before Christmas with a same day appointment! My daughter was seated in the chair and we chose a women's cut. I wanted her to feel the difference in a kids cut from Super Cuts and what Mom usually gets at a salon. This included wash, cut, dry, and style. I also let her get her eyebrows waxed. Her total hair loss was about 24" of hair. When everything was said and done my daughter hated it. It wasn't the right "shape". Alex was able to explain things like texture, hair types, and what she can do to get it closer to her photo. She was still unhappy but the feedback was well received by Alex. Remember, our appointment was running behind. With grace and a smile Alex was more than happy to fix it and go even shorter. She gave my daughter the Justin Bieber type cut she was looking for, something totally opposite of the first cut Alex had just completed based off a photo my daughter found online. That folks, is how you get repeat customers and five star reviews. Stressed, pressed for time, and still sweet as can be. Never once did she make us feel any type of way and I appreciate that.

I was sitting next to their booth with a white sheer curtain between us. They couldn't wait until I left!?
