My daughter was served her soda but I was not given mine. When I asked the waitress 10 minutes later when I saw her again she said she forgot. They weren't that busy. She was prioritizing the bar patrons and even fresh ones that walked in after me. I watched her the entire time I waited for my food. When the food popped up at the window bagged and ready to go it sat for 11 minutes. The service was a big fat 0 because of how long it took her to do anything for us and forgetting my drink. Not because she was busy. But because we weren't a priority to her. I can't recall her name but she is a long time bartender there according to some of the patrons. During this process my daughter and I were harassed by one of their drunk patrons. A regular. Who was so Inebriated he couldn't hold a conversation but yet she still served him drinks. He kept trying to talk to us then get involved with my business trying to intervene with the waitress when i was inquiring about my food , soda and the long wait, as if he was doing me a favor after I specifically asked him to get away from me and my daughter and not get involved in my affairs. We ended up having to move to another table to get away. Finally get the food and get back to our room. I open the to go containers and just about screamed. 5 pieces of steak 1 pepper slice 1 onion slice and a cup of pale looking pilaf rice for $23.99!!!!!!? The menu specifically said steak tips with peppers and onions, rice and 1 side. It's said nothing about using teriyaki marinade. My daughter had crappy rice for dinner that night for $23.99 because she can't eat meat with marinade. She can't have seasoning. In her meat. Picky eater. Said nothing about the tips being off kabob skewers either. Said nothing about the onions and peppers being kabob slices and being limited to 1 slice each. And where is the broccoli? Eaten by the cook? They were terriyaki steak kabobs! Not steak tips and rice completely different!! Badly misleading. No mention of terriyaki anywhere. I could have had allergies to it False advertising on their part. They need to revamp their menu and hire better staffing. Never again and I'm spreading my horrible experience by word of mouth and web. Only good reviews you get are with local regulars. This place even has fake 5 star reviews. Just to look good. Located at the corner of Maple Street (one way northbound) at Silver Street, Salona Restaurant & Lounge serves American, Italian, and some Greek cuisine since the owners are Greek. The place has separate entrances for the lounge and restaurant. The menu offers pizza, calzones, subs, sandwiches, burgers, steaks, chicken, seafood, lamb, gyros, appetizers (wings, rings, skins, traditional & Italian poutines, & more), salads, soups, kid's menu, and desserts (chilled cakes). Dinner prices range from $7.95 (Spaghetti) to $24.95 (BBQ Lamb Double) with most of the dinners $10.95-$14.95 which include soup or salad. Beer and wine available. I've heard the International Haddock (topped with feta & spinach) is pretty good here. SPECIALS: On Mondays-Thursdays, Dinner For Two is offered for $18.95, which include choices of Baked Haddock, Steak Tips, Chicken Parmesan, & Eggplant Parmesan. On Fridays only, Seafood Chowder is offered. I stopped here for dinner the other night and sat myself in the dining room. The dining room has a quiet and very relaxed atmosphere with booth and table seating and framed pictures hang on the painted pink walls. The lounge in the next room offers takeout service, seating at the bar and two 20" tube TVs to watch sports and news. I felt a bit out of place here since the other customers here were all senior citizens, who seemed to be regulars. The waitress/bartender was conversing with the customers by first name. It was a decent tasting typical pub dish and a very generous portion, could not finish it. For dinner, the Gyro Platter ($10.95) came with rice and a cup of soup. The Chicken Rice Soup was thick with lots of rice, small chicken pieces, carrots in a cream broth, which was served hot, but bland and lacking flavor. I wish it was Friday so I could've tried the Seafood Chowder. The Gyro Platter was generous and very tasty with strips of grilled beef/lamb, tomato, lettuce, tzatziki sauce on thick pita bread. The side of tomato rice was topped with tomato sauce. I packed up half of the dinner and skipped dessert. Overall, the food here was very filling and the service was laid back and decent. My waitress was seen running the floor in the lounge and dining room solo. A great place for lunch and dinner for seniors and for folks looking for a great bang for the buck, you won't be disappointed. We tried Solona Bar & Grill for the first time. We ordered the steak and cheese sub, steak salad, broccoli and cheese bites, chicken and rice soup, the chicken tenders kids meal. First the kids meal is big! Much larger portions than most restaurants give kids meals! The steak Tips in the salad were very good! The flavor was amazing! The steak and cheese and broccoli bites were on par with other restaurants. The chicken and rice soup is delicious! We're giving this restaurant four stars! read more

So disappointed paid over $95 for oil, lettuce, raw dough, and burnt chicken. They even got my desserts wrong. Never again. Stay away so not worth it. All you'll get is oil. I should of never strayed from JIMMY'S House of Pizza. NO I don't want to call your restaurant so you can make it up to me. Your food point blank is TRASH. Not even my kids wanted to finish eating. Still on the search for the best steak salad in the city. Tried this one today, and it was good, better than a lot of others I've had thus far, but there's 2 things that I can't get past. 1. They should call it a steak salad, not a steak TIP salad. These are not steak tips, this is cubed steak they probably use for steak and cheese subs. And 2. It was $20 with tax, tip and delivery fee of 1.99 from doordash. For $20 (which is the most expensive salad I've had of all like 10 I've had), I expect gorgeous steak tips cooked perfectly. There was no temp cooked to here, they're so small you can't get them cooked rare if you tried. The salad parts itself were plentiful, and the dressing was good. We flew in late tonight from Az(don't worry we quarantined beforehand) and ordered delivery from Salona Bar and Grill when we arrived to our hotel. After reading some other reviews and going over the menu it was an obvious choice. My bf who is a chef got the haddock dinner (fried) and raved about everything. The rice was fat but not split and seasoned perfectly. The fish was light in breading and thick cut, the tartar sauce tasted classic. I got the Mediterranean chicken and it was also delicious, the amount of spinach was a nice surprise and the cheese on top was rich and gave it such a nice creamed spinach affect. The chicken itself was thick cut and cooked PERFECTLY. I'm sad that we'll probably never be back out this way so I'm just going to tell everyone to eat here and think of me when you take that first bite. Stay safe! read more

Impressive, cozy, YUMMY Mom and Pop's :) I've had the steak tips (juicy and delicious), the gyro (THE BEST), and the Salona Special (sirloin burger the size of my head) I've been to Salona in the evening when they had a big crowd. The service was prompt without being overbearing, and even though the place was pretty packed I could still hear the other people around me :) I think I have the high ceilings and generous space in the dining room to thank for that... Usually I go in the early afternoon. The waitresses were pleasant and conversational, but not *overly* talkative even though it can be slow. They give you enough space to enjoy your meal, but still make sure your drinks are replenished without having to ask. The decor is very Mom & Pop's, homey, and warm. Flowers and small lights around the windows... The seating is comfy (booths and tables), very good feng shui table arrangement, and the bathrooms are VERY CLEAN (which means a lot to me). This restaurant seems to be very well cared for. I only take off one star because I would have liked more options with the platters... fries or... (pause) rice....? Hmm... I'm sure I could have finagled a steamed veggie substitution somehow if I put enough thought into it... Overall, great place, great service, yummy food, good drinks! We went there last night to watch a band play and have some dinner. The Jen Miller band was awesome. Megan the waitress was fantastic. The food was really good. I've had pizza before, lots of pizza, but the pizza that I get now is from Salona. Don't let their small establishment scare you, the food is fanrastic! We had peppers and onions, which was great, but we had plain cheese tonight....fantastic. My boyfriend and I decided to try this restaurant since it was in walking distance to our new place... and I'm so glad we did! Salona has a varied menu from pizza and other Italian dishes to sandwiches to seafood. They also have a full bar/lounge area. We sat in the dining room which was quiet and comfy. Our waitress was very friendly and it seems that they get a lot of repeat business, as she recognized other customers as they came in. We each got a calzone, which they will make out of any of the pizzas (or any size) that you'd like. We also shared an order of fries which were hot, tasty and not too greasy. They are located on the corner of Maple and Silver with a good sized parking lot in the "front" (the doors lead to and from the parking lot with labeled awnings for the bar and the restaurant areas). They are closed on Sunday and have free delivery in the area. Will definitely enjoy my take-out menu as well! Very good experience and would definitely go again. read more

A fantastic restaurant with an amazing menu. We had three very different items. The fried haddock was light and flaky, the spinach pie was superb and the lamb kabob was cooked medium rare just like we asked and was excellent. All were served with a large fresh salad. Well I happened on the place back in 2003 i think, and have kept going back since, the food is very good and the portion sizes are more than enough usually have to bring some home, and might i add the heated up leftovers are just as good the following day. . lol read more
