Had a decent meal here recently. Located at the corner of Valley Street and Belmont Street, Luigi's Bar & Grille is a local neighborhood restaurant/bar in South Central LA (I mean Manchester), which serves up typical pub fare including fried appetizers, pizza, calzones, burgers, sandwiches, subs, wraps, Italian dinners, seafood, steaks, kabobs, and more. The prices here are reasonable and the portions are good. Dinners include choice potato or rice (except pasta dinners) and salad or soup. Drink specials include $1.50 Bud drafts on Sundays and Mondays and $1.75 Labatts everyday. The place has two entrances with the front entrance for takeout orders and the back entrance for the lounge/restaurant. The dining area/lounge is situated in one room (pub atmosphere) with the bar area and surrounded by booth, table, and high top table seating. The bright atmosphere is semi loud here with video games, touch tones jukebox, and several TVs with sports on. The rose colored painted walls have tasteful decor from framed art, New England Patriots stuff, to beer lights. I stopped in here for dinner on a typical weeknight and sat myself at a booth (menus already at the table). The friendly waitress promptly came over to my table and took my order. I ordered a Small Sausage Pizza ($6) and a Haddock Parmegian Dinner ($10.50) served with a garden salad (bowl of iceberg, shredded carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, & green peppers drenched in creamy bleu cheese dressing). The pizza was okay with a thin dry airy crust topped with sauce, sausage bits and cheese, a slight step up from Mama Celeste Pizza. The Haddock Parmegian (breaded haddock over soft linguine (actually fettuccine) & topped with sauce and lots of melted cheese) was baked in a small casserole dish and served piping hot with toasted buttered garlic bread. The haddock had a fishy smell (not the freshest), but overall, the dish was decent because it was cooked really hot. I dined to some konvict muzik by Akon (curse words edited out), which was pumping out from the speakers. I quietly ate my dinner because I "don't trouble nobody" so I wouldn't get "locked up." The place is actually family friendly with a mixed clientele of older and younger folks. The service here was pretty good and attentive. My waitress brought out my food in a timely manner and checked up on my table a few times. PARKING: The parking lot in back of the restaurant is very tight. If I could give negative stars I would! Never had such rude service. 2 females working a bar with 4 other tables, 2 of which were already served when the 4 of us came in. We got our drinks right away but then one of our party (not me) had to call the server back over after waiting to place our order. To be fair we did tell her we were not ready when she brought our drinks but then seemed to be ignored. Watched others who ordered after us receive their food. They came over twice to tell us it was almost ready. When the food finally came, three out of the four orders were brought. As any customer would do, I was looking to see if my dinner was coming. The server comes over and asks if everything is ok so I say no my dinner has not been delivered. She immediately yells that I'm way to upset, (pretty funny since I hadn't said another word) and goes off that we haven't waited that long (30 minutes)and we are not the only table here (actually at that time we were the only table ordering food) WOW! I am literally speechless. How rude to treat any customer like that!! Great neighborhood bar. We live within walking distance and go there for sporting events a lot. The food is awesome, if you're looking for tasty unhealthy stuff your girlfriend won't let you have, this place is for you. I've literally not eaten anything bad here, and the Caesar salad is great too if she plans on joining you. Service can be real slow sometimes bc it's understaffed but they are really nice. General Rule = More is better. Exception to General Rule = Luigi's. On a football Sunday in the fall, I would much rather come here to Luigi's than to Billy's for the game. I live close to both places so either is always an option. At Luigi's you'll get a seat at the bar and a good meal with plenty of draft beers for much less $$$ than at Billy's. There's less hassle, less people, less kids, less noise, and less TVs. The food is just as good but it is less expensive. In short, less is more here at Luigi's. Keep in mind though, that Luigi's isn't really a restaurant. There are plenty of tables to sit but the clientele and atmosphere lean much more toward the bar side of things. For example, if I was with my wife and 14 month old daughter, we'd go to Billy's. If we didn't have our daughter for the afternoon, my wife and I would come here to get blitzed and catch the Pats game. And for those still partying in their 20s, there is an outdoor area to smoke butts and you can bring your drink with you (which was a very big consideration when I used to smoke butts). Unfortunately I have to lower my rating for this place. It's become very hit-or-miss the prices seem to vary even though we get the same thing all the time as well as the portion size. Overall the customer service isn't to die for especially at takeout. My kids always get the bacon double cheeseburger and it comes with fries that's been their staple and they always like it! We've gotten a turkey and an Italian sub there I wouldn't waste your time with this because the amount of meat and veggies you getting a large I would expect in a small. More like deli chicken sliced thick. 2 measly slices of tomato. (end pieces to boot) a few basil leaves, mozzarella from sysco I'm sure & TONS of herb aioli. Fell apart on the first bite could not salvage. Gave the chicken to my dog later with her kibble. Threw the rest out. Major disappointment all around especially knowing that one of the local restauranters has his name on it. Will never try again. Thought I'd check this place out for a couple of beers and a light dinner. Sat at the bar and was tended by a very friendly bartender. Ordered a veggie wrap while my friend ordered a grilled chicken salad. Wrap was presented all by itself on a big plate with no fries, pickle or garnish of any kind. Not very eye appealing at all, definitely looked like something was missing. That being said the wrap itself was tasty, not a culinary orgasm by any means. The grilled chicken salad plate looked much more appealing and had good flavor according to my friend but unfortunately was served about 20 to 25 minutes AFTER they served me my wrap. Went to Luigi's the first time on April 10, 2015. Will not be going back. The service was slow. We sat at our table for over 10 minutes before the waitress showed up to take drink orders. When she came back to drop off the drinks she said she would be right back to take our food order. Apparently, "right back" is 15 minutes later. Once the food was ordered, however, it was delivered to the table in a timely manner. Their menu says they have exceptional burgers made from fresh angus beef or something to that effect. I can't recall the exact wording. I love a great cheeseburger so, based on what the menu promised, I thought I would give theirs a try. I ordered the Rachel burger cooked medium. It came cooked well done (sigh), but I didn't send it back because I was hungry and just didn't want to wait. I can't say definitively that this burger wasn't made from fresh angus beef, but it sure didn't taste like it. This burger was pretty much devoid of flavor and juiciness and to me, seemed like it had been previously frozen. Fresh, juicy and flavorful is the whole reason to eat a burger in the first place. This burger did not even come close. The cost of our meal was reasonable, but I'd rather pay a little extra and enjoy the food. read more

I'm 22 now and I've been going there since I was about 4 or 5. I love it there. They have the best french fries I have ever had in my entire life!!!!!! I can't get enough. They also have the best house dressing. Most people love Olive Garden's dressing but I'll tell you, Luigi's house dressing is about a billion times better. Came here Monday night for the BIG Pats vs Houston game. The place wasn't busy but the bar was full and they had one waitress for the entire place. Once she came to our table I asked if there were any specials and she said they had bud select on special but they were sold out !! The game hasn't even started yet!!! How were they sold out. I mentioned their website says they have $.50 wings and the waitress said that was from a year ago. Soo they haven't updated their website in a year! So no specials zero when their website says they do. I am pretty sure that's illegal but whatever. So we all order burgers RARE and we said it twice to make sure that's how they would come. When we get them they are clearly the frozen cheap parties and were cooked well done! Our waitress hadn't come over for 30 minutes so we were starving and ate out hockey pucks. My boyfriend and I had been coming to Luigis for years now, we know the owner and he staff really well. After a recent visit we well no longer be customers of theirs. We had went in with a $25 gift certificate and as we handed it to the bartender after ordering two meals and a couple drinks she tells us that "they did not want part in that web deal so they can not honor our gift certificate" that someone else purchased for us. I explained there is no expiration date on it and that it was a gift and she still proceeded to tell me no but would ask if they could honor half of it. After honoring only half of the gift certificate that made a point to put CUSTOMER COMPLAINT -12 on the receipt she handed back to us, rather than gift card. I don't think places realize the way the treat their customers at times. They just lost two loyal customers. read more

I ordered a calzone for pick-up from here. Walked in the back door which apparently is the bar side of things, took a seat and watched some Sox while I waited for someone to come over. When the bartender came over she told me I was looking for the takeout window which was at the front. So I walked up to the takeout window and grabbed my calzone which was ready to go. The calzone was ok. The edges were really doughy, while towards the middle of the calzone the dough was stretched so thin it was barely there. The calzone was cut into squares and had cheese baked right on top, both of which I had never had, and it didn't come with any sauce (which was mentioned on the menu to their credit). The square pieces made a few of them nothing but dough, while others were nothing but toppings with a thin wrap around them. I was told I ordered the wrong thing and that their chicken parm sub is the way to go, so that is what I'll get next time, and I'll edit this review. I stopped in Luigi's last night after a long week of work, place was slammin, but the service and food was still amazing, I had ordered an appetizer of chicken tenders and then was so happy to see they had fried whole belly clams and dirt CHEAP, they were amazing as was the chicken tenders... The service was great as busy as it was in there I did not wait for a drink or my food, and the girls were wonderful, I love the fact I didn't feel rushed. I was able to relax.
