I like this shop in Lemon Grove. Been coming here for a few years now and have always been pleased. I basically get my head shaved at this point since my hairline is pretty far back . But I still like getting a fade. He does a great job. You have to be a little picky who cuts your hair. I made the mistake of going on a weekday when my guy wasn't there and the other dude didn't know how to fade hair and use clippers. So pick your guy based on the type of cut you want. They are Vietnamese I think. My guy doesn't speak much English so you are not having a conversation with him. Trust me I have tried. But I kinda like that. He just focuses on cutting my hair and I'm out. I always tip the guy so I pay $20 out the door. Cash please. read more

I try to come here for the my boys when they're due for a cut, but they're often busy on the weekends. We finally got in on a weekday and the boys haircuts turned out nicely. Never had a disappointing experience here. The guys are friendly, the cuts look great, and the kids get a lollipop at the end! They're your neighborhood barber shop, it's a small place with four stations and a TV with sports playing. Located in the Ralph's shopping center, so there's usually plenty of parking. Never Again Went in here because my usaul barber was not available and i needed a quick fade..... told the lady do not touch the top since i was still growing it on top.. so just to clean up the sides... Went to high, ended up slippping and took some off the top Now had to use clippers to take alot off the top to blend in the spot she buzzed off,,,, So basicly now im starting all over to let my hair grow out ... The place smelled bad. The cape they wrap around me smelled.... I should of never let her start with the red flags... But was in a pinch and ended up with a shit haircut....... Had an old guys gut resting on my shoulder for 90% of the haircut. Don't get me started on the haircut. By far the worst haircut I've ever received. My expectations were low as is given how poorly this place is rated, but those expectations weren't even close to being met. Let me say it one more time. By FAR the worst haircut I've ever received. Dude also had the audacity to charge me $30. Never again. Don't bother. Not that it matters but the decor hasn't been updated since maybe 2005. And the paint is probably older. The owner obviously has little interest in cleaning let alone renovating. It should be a crime to waste valuable land on a shop like this. read more

Lady messed up my sons hair line & kept watching tv while cutting my sons hair. when i asked her to fix it she got upset, when i realize my son started complaining i realize he had a little scratch. Asked her for owners number, gave it to me. I called and wrong #. Went done to the barber shop again & lady stated was going to call the cops because we asked for our money back. Your experience here is all about who's giving the haircut. I recently got my hair cut by some large, hispanic woman and unfortunately she cut my hair with absolutely zero input from me. Everything I asked for wasn't done. I requested for her to leave the top untouched; she takes her clippers and shaves off the top of my head. I requested for a taper in the back; she takes her clippers and shaves off the back. I sharp, cold metal was being forced against my skin as my hair fell to the floor. Being a good barber requires good communication skills. What are we paying you for if you're going to freestyle on my head? $12 for a haircut here, $12 that I could've given to a child with a pair of safety scissors. She pushed my hairline back and gave me a mens haircut and IM A WOMAN! I directly said just shave it and showed a reference picture of my hair shaved before. The first time I took my son (who is autistic) here, the tall older gentleman cut his hair for him and did a great job. So I went back a second time, but the guy with the beard took him as the other man was getting ready to leave. I told him a few times that my son has autism and does not sit still, I mean he sits still, he just moves his head around when the buzzer is near him. As he began cutting his hair, my son kept moving and the barber told me "you know he's not going to get a good haircut because he's moving" then he kept saying "man that kid before him is only 2 years old and he sat still the whole time c'mon kid you're 6 years old you gotta sit still" and I was livid! Overall, the back of my son's head was not lined up and I will never recommend this shop to anyone else. read more

Be sure to ask for Joseph (or "Lil Joe")! He's super nice and easy to get along with. He really takes the time to make sure that you get the cut and style that you want. My boyfriend was able to get his hair cut as soon as we walked in and it took about an hour, but only because it was his first time there and Lil Joe would stop to make sure my boyfriend completely understood what he was getting before he decided to cut/shave everything off. Also, they only charge $12! Typically, places with such low prices like that don't give the best service or haircuts and you "get what you pay for", but Sal's Barber Shop makes you feel comfortable and welcome and gives some of the best service I've ever seen. Went in real quick cut before a funeral to get my grandson trimmed up. An older gentleman proceeded to set up my little man. When he didnt put the paper neck liner on I was surprised. I gave him specific instructions and he screwed them up. He said he was done and asked me to inspect the cut. When I pointed out that the front line was cut in a jagged V he trimmed it up almost to the scalp. If you plan on stopping in DONT USE THE OLD HANDICAPPED MAN. Did not get what I asked for. I asked for a fade on the sides and pretty much just got my sides shaved off. And you can't really say much because they don't face you facing a mirror so it was like get a mystery cut. Overall I'm disappointment. And I'm probably going to be stuck wearing hats for the rest of the month. read more

My go to Barber Shop for many years. The only person you need to know there is Jose. He's very attentive to detail and takes his time. Let him know what you want and let him do the rest to make you look good. Prices went from $12 a cut to $15 but I ain't complaining. Some other barber shops charge more than $15. There's a 45" - 50" tv to watch sports or movies on while you wait. ..If you're hungry while waiting they got jack in the box, tasty's pizza and wingstop which just opened up not to long ago.
