Rough start when Tthe link to order food was broken. I had to add the .com to the end of it. Then I could no longer select the sauce I wanted with my garlic rolls. I could add an additional sauce for more money though. So I put in the comment section I'd like the cheese sauce. I got garlic butter and marinara. No cheese. Apparently now at the Brownsburg location you have to pay money for the soup or salad with your entree, but at Plainfield you do not. The final straw was when the door dash pickup person cut in front of the line to get his order, and when I spoke up to say something, the staff continued to look for his food while mine was sitting behind the glass. read more

This Sal's is located in Brownsvurg in a strip mall with other shops close by. We have been to their Plainfield restaurant multiple times and their food tastes amazingly delicious in both the locations. Their service is great. The ambiance was good and the place was average noisy. They have dine in and carry out options. They have some vegetarian options too. Although, when we asked for vegetarian Calzone without mushrooms, they said it is prepared ahead and mushrooms go with it. That was a bummer. But the pizza and lasagna we ordered were tasty and the portion was just perfect. This is a must visit place. They have a big parking lot in this mall and is a family friendly and business casual restaurant. Also, I am unaware if all the restaurants do this but if paid with cash, the prize is different and when paid with card the prize is $2 more. To me, Sal's Pizza is the best in town because of their New York style pizza. The crust is just perfect. My only complaint would be that they really need to learn to adjust pricing to reflect half topping options. If you tell them half pepperoni / half sausage, they will charge you for 2 full toppings. Im ok if they want to put a whole pizzas worth of each on their respective halves or half the price for each topping. its just short changing customers in a dishonest way. Really wanted some authentic Italian! One of my favs for a date night as well and saw this little gem on Yelp and wanted to go try it with a friend! When we arrived the place seemed quaint and the atmosphere was bustling. We got sat quickly despite some slight confusion from the host stand. The staff was friendly. I ordered fettuccine Alfredo entree with a house salad and house Italian dressing. The warm bread & oil dip to start was really good too, we said yes when they offered more. My friend got the spinach lasagna entree with a Cesar salad. The only downfall was that our booth still seemed dirty with crumbs everywhere and a menu left in the seat. We've been to Sal's several times throughout the years and the food is always good. Nothing mind-blowing, but consistently good. The restaurant atmosphere is small-town downhome Italian and it can get cramped, so we usually do carryout from Sal's. The most recent time we dined in, it was packed on a Wednesday night, but the servers kept up with the hustle. I had the 4 Stagoni, which is fettucini noodles with tomatoes, capers, and artichokes, and I added shrimp. It was a large portion, so I was able to bring some home for lunch the next day. We'll continue to support this local business and are glad to have it near our home. read more

Sal's Pizzeria is one of our favorite Italian restaurants whether in Brownsburg or Plainfield. We do enjoy supporting a family-owned business who serves great food, has affordable prices, good service and a diverse menu. This location was remodeled a few years ago and during the remodel a large patio was added. The patio area, even though it sits on the sidewalk, is fairly private with all the greenery and blinds they've added. It can get very warm so we usually wait till it's cooler outdoors to sit on the patio. The interior dining has two seating areas with an open dining room consisting of booths and 4 - 6 top tables as soon as you enter. The second dining room has bar seating with tables in the bar. Stop at the hostess stand as soon as you enter to be seated. Lunch is served M - F from 11a - 4p. with dinner from 4p - closing. Lunch is served with bread/oil and dinner is served with bread/oil and salad. They have several made ahead lunch options for those with time constraints. Pizza slices, pepperoni breadsticks, garlic rolls, meatballs and plain breadsticks are just a few of the items you can purchase separately. Most of the dinner menu is on the lunch menu but a smaller, still generous, portion. Sal's menu offers appetizers and antipasto, soup, salads, sandwiches (Meatball, Italian or Calabresa sub, Stromboli plus) and many types of calzones including vegetarian. I love the variety of pasta dishes for vegetarians or meat lovers. You'll find pasta with chicken, veal, trout, seafood with several sauces designed to go perfectly with each pasta dish. Pizza is extremely popular here from a single slice to 9", 12" and 16" sizes pie with several different crust to select from and check out the wood fire grilled pizza. A few of our favorites are the amazing Garlic Rolls, Meatballs (can get on pizza too), the Appetizer Sampler and Melazane Parmegiana (fried eggplant with marinara sauce). My husband always orders the Spaghetti and Meatballs and enjoys. I usually order the Capellini Pomodoro with Angel Hair Pasta sautéed with fresh tomatoes, olive oil and a blend of Italian herbs. I also enjoy the Linguine Tuttu Mare with Linguine tossed with mussels, clams, shrimp, scallops, tomatoes, garlic and white wine. I almost never write a bad review. It is hard to own a restaurant and it takes a lot of work to keep things going, and I know that most locally owned places are just doing the best they can. However we went out to Sal's tonight, only been once before, and brought my mom as a thank you for a night out. We met up with some friends so we had a party of five. Once we arrived they seated us quickly but we noticed most tables were full and people looked a little anxious. After sitting for a few minutes we noticed there seem to only be two servers. We decided to wait it out and give them the benefit of the doubt. After a weight of 45 minutes we still did not have a water or bread nor had a waitress even come to the table. In the midst of our wedding we noticed many other tables were seated and were waited upon, but we still sat with no drinks or service. I'm a rather patient person but after an hour I went to the waitress and said we needed waters and at least some bread as I was starting to get dizzy. I had purposely not eaten much so that I could enjoy some of their garlic knots and their yummy food. Evidently the owners wife heard me and help the waitress get us some service. We placed our full order and began to wait again. At the one and ahalf hour mark we received our appetizers. I must admit that their garlic knots and marinara sauce are amazing. I could've made them at home in the time it took for them to bring them to the table but they are definitely delicious! We did finally receive our salads, but by this time other people who had come in after us had eaten received their food and left before we even received a main course. I told the waitress we had to leave in 20 minutes as one of our party needed to get up early to be at work. At this point we have been waiting two hours. The table behind us also had a similar problem but had complained a bit louder than us and so did receive their food. I recognize that they were very busy but we never received any explanation or attempt at an apology. I have to say in this day and age when you can go to any number of restaurants I won't ever be returning to this establishment unless they change their front of house management. When we did finally get up to leave with no food, we had asked for the manager who never came to chat with us. As we were walking out the door the manager belligerently told us the food was ready. She did not attempt to apologize or explain the situation. I honestly think if she had had a different attitude we might've explained and told her we could take the food to go and still pay for it. However after two hours we paid for our appetizers but felt we did not need to spend any more time wasting away in their restaurant. I'm sorry that this wasn't a great experience and it ended up causing a lot of anxiety for our guests. I do hope this restaurant can figure out their issues because we heard many many people complaining that they would not be back after this evening. I was half tempted to call in an order for a pizza and see if I got that before our food in the house. If you want to try out sells the food is quite good I'm sure just make sure you give yourself a lot of time and perhaps plan to work, take a nap, play a game or do something while waiting. read more

The Pasta e fagioli only had about 10 beans in it lit and was mostly broth or soup base. One of the pasta dishes had cold deli meat ham cut up in it. In my opinion, the food is not worth the price. Unfortunately when my friend and I went last week we had bad service but that won't stop me from coming again and again AND again!!! Most of the time, it's great service. My parents suggested we grab a quick lunch from Sal's the day we moved in... and let's just say that started a bit of a habit for our first week or so in our new house. The panzerotti and stroboli are both so good and I love their Caesar salad dressing. In the (too) many times we've been in in the last couple months, I haven't had something I didn't like. Based on my experience tonight I probably won't return. We went because we read several reviews. And many seem to be from people in the area and who have been going there for as long as they can remember. We'll....I suggest they get out and expand their culinary experience. First off, we waited to be seated, for a long while. "We'll be right with you. We need to clean off the table." Well there were tables that were clean and good to go. "We are swamped. It's a busy night." Maybe I could believe this except the young, brunette, kid/guy, whatever, that was just standing behind the counter drinking soda from a styrofoam cup and staring out at everyone waiting to be seated while he just...well stood there. Pure laziness. Maybe the owner's kid. But that's not all. My "Mista Salad" was missing the olives, the pepperoni, and the cheese. But I paid for it. Full price but basically got...well I'm not sure what it was. The cook was obviously in a hurry and didn't care about quality control. We ordered two wood fired pizzas because as the waitress said, "they are crispier". Not true! Both were wet, rained on, limp, newspaper soggy. And in the very center, they were mushy doughy soggy. We left 3/4 of the pizzas uneaten. We boxed them and brought them home thinking we would put them on a pizza stone in the oven and cook them more for leftovers. But they were too far gone. We ended up tossing them in the trash as soon as we arrived home. They were just to soggy to salvage. We'll probably not return. We did see they have other Italian items on the menu like spaghetti, etc., but I'd fear the spaghetti would be from a Chef Boyardee can, and the lasagna would be a slice from a store bought frozen Stouffer's lasagna tray. Not good here. Not good there. The pizzeria pizza place was not good anywhere. read more

Would need a steak knife to cut it. Was cold was not even offered anything else to try and make it right. Was told I had to pay for it even though you couldn't eat it. That was there policy. Only thing good was the waitress we had. It clearly wasn't her fault. Never been treated so poorly by any restaurant. TRULY SUCKS DON'T EAT HERE Couldn't even eat one bite. Went here for lunch last Saturday with husband and friends from out of town. We all loved this place! Nice and clean inside and Italian music was playing. Has a really nice feel to it. First time i've ever been to this place. and i must say. best pizza i've had in years, The ambiance was absolutely beautiful. tables and interior and exterior was absolutely clean and shiny, Service was very good and balanced. Most definitely will come back and i'm definitely bringing my entire family next time. i wish i could remember my server's name but she was friendly and professional. Once again Sals was AMAZING! Best restaurant in the state of Indiana. The staff is a team and looks out for each other. Kaitlyn was our server and she was incredibly attentive and kind. Always smiling under her mask. I even told her that was really good service and we tipped 30 percent. The bread was fresh and warm and so was our food. Bread is served ASAP, appetizers and salads were on point and our dinner came soon after. My picky 10 year old loves the spaghetti and now Sals is his favorite restaurant. We drove from Fort Wayne to try this spot and we were NOT disappointed! Probably the best Stromboli I've ever had. We had a slice of the sausage pizza as well and my wife I both gave it a ten!
