I've been going to Napoli Villa for over 20 yrs for my birthday, I could not wait to put that delicious soft meatball in my mouth or the Chicken Parm. Once the Meatballs were placed on our table I knew right away something was wrong, they were very small, took a bite and they tasted like a FROZEN meatball with sauce. told the waitress that this is NOT what I expected nor what they used to be. I've eaten here multiple times -- it's close, consistently delicious, and quite affordable. I love every dish I've tried, as one of the best examples of its kind -- e.g., the wonderful tender lasagna with half bechamel and half marinara sauces, containing just enough meat and sauce. The big crunchy antipasto salad that most meals come with is generous in all regards, and could be a meal unto itself. The chicken dishes always are fork-tender, and the flavors are always rich and complex. Drinks are perfectly okay, but nothing spectacular -- wine selection is decent. Even the ambience is pleasant, if a bit crowded, with frescoes on the walls. There's only one rub: the service. It's consistently slow, inattentive, and lackluster. Orders for takeout always have items omitted. I generally have to beg passing servers for menus and water. Bread (which is quite tasty, warm and with a crunchy crust) doesn't usually show up until the main meal; drinks from the bar often have to be ordered twice, and show up with the main meal. The last server I had was during the mask mandate -- he sat talking with another server until I begged the hostess for water and cocktails, then showed up after she lit a fire under him with "dick-nose" (his nose fully hanging over the mask, which obviates the whole point of wearing a mask), and insisted on talking to us entirely too closely. Gah. So! Don't come here if you're in a hurry -- come with friends you need to catch up with, and settle in for the evening. The food is great; just don't expect too much from the staff. read more

I hadn't been to Napoli Villa in years. I grew up on the South Side and remember going there with my parents on special occasions such as anniversaries and birthdays. It is a cute Italian Restaurant on Main Street in Beech Grove. We were in the area and decided to stop in for a bite, for old times sake. I had the Spaghetti Al Pomodoro for $15.95. You can choose between traditional tomato sauce or meat sauce. You can also add spicy Italian Sausage or Meatballs for an additional $4.25. I, of course, went with the meat sauce AND the spicy sausage. The meat sauce was very hearty. It had a lot of meat as well as a lot of sauce. This is unlike some of the chain Italian restaurants where they consistently, it seems, have very little meat and not enough sauce. In fact, when I've had leftovers at some of the chain restaurants, the pasta the next day is very dry because there is so little sauce and it has been absorbed overnight. This is not the case here! I did have leftovers but, just by looking at it, it will not be dry the next day. I was very happy with the sauce.... No need to ask for extra! The sausage was very good too. It had a bit of a spicy kick and was delicious. My wife ordered the Penne Alla Vodka for $16.95. It came with a cream sauce served at a heat level of her choice: mild, medium or hot. She had the option of adding chicken for $3.00, Shrimp for $4.50, or Sausage for $4.25. She got it without an added protein and at a medium spicy level. She really enjoyed the meal. It had just the right amount of spice or heat. It was spicy enough that it had a kick but not so spicy that she could not taste the food. It was very filling and she had leftovers as well. Both meals came with a side salad. It was your choice of a house salad or antipasto. My wife got the house salad and I ordered the antipasto. The salads were both good, not outstanding, but good. They also provide warm bread and cold butter for the table. I was waiting to see what type of Parmesan they would offer. Would it be the cheap plastic kind that comes out of a green can (like one particular chain restaurant....although they have it sitting on the table in a shaker to fool you). Or, would it be real Parmigiano Reggiano that is hand grated at your table by the server (like another chain restaurant). The question was quickly answered.... We were offered NO Parmesan (Reggiano or otherwise)... by the server or on the table. It would have been a nice offer and it is something I will definitely add at home to my leftovers. I know Italians do not put Parmesan on pasta with seafood... in fact, some view it as an affront to the chef if you ask. However, both our dishes were red sauce, although my wife's was a cream red sauce. Just my preference to have the Parmesan with a meat sauce. Our server was friendly and offered good suggestions. The food was served hot and within a reasonable time. There was a slight delay in getting more bread and boxes for our leftovers. However, they were very busy. This is a local restaurant which is family owned. It was decorated very nice for the holidays and had a warm, pleasing, feel or vibe. It felt like you were family. Would we return? Yes, if we are on the South Side. Would we drive from the North Side JUST to come here? Maybe, depending on my mood of the day. I arrived late to this restaurant on a Friday and decided to sit at the bar. Several servers were making drinks but no one acknowledged me, not a hello, smile, really strange. After 15 minutes or more, decided to go to the hostess stand. The hostess, possibly the manager, told me to go back to the bar and someone would help. My first instinct was to say, "no please seat me", should have followed my instincts but instead sat at the bar. I waited another 15 or so minutes before the bartender arrived and took my drink order, then she disappeared. When she returned, I asked for a menu, then she disappeared again. I had to finally ask a server, who was making her own tables drinks behind the bar to find my server/bartender, so I could order. We had heard good things about Napoli and finally gave it whirl for early dinner on Mother's Day; great overall experience! We took my wife, aunt, grandma and great grandma for a meal and really enjoyed it our early dinner! Server was super friendly and personable, even more so after she learned we hadn't previously been here. The italian salad was delicious.. bread = realllllly good! Italian margaritas... thoroughly enjoyed by the ladies! Food - we had a few lasagna and it was very good. Ton of flavor, perfectly cooked and a very good size. I was hungry managed to eat all of mine, but felt it for the rest of the day... It definitely will feed you for 2 meals if you indulge in the salad and bread.. or just make it a point to not eat it all :) Aunt had penne pasta and really liked it.. she got it mild, but it had a little zip. Reserved private room on a Monday tried all week to pay the rental fee but the mgr was NEVER available.daughter drove there on Friday met with the manager showed the room etc... and was told to call next day to pay the rental fee. Called on Saturday no answer so I drove there only to be told room was reserved in January with no pymt, no phone contact and they have not confirmed so you can't have the room but we can out you in that corner with everyone else. Said I would like to see if the original party confirms. One week of being lied to then told we are emailing them will let you know asap. I have text the mgr twice, she's clearly reading them so I called the restaurant on Tuesday spoke with the owner who made my reservation said it was a mistake, sorry we will squeeze you into the restaurant. Same thing I was told by the mgr. after 4 different people confirmed our reservation for the private room I bought a 75 non refundable cake, decorations etc so now I have nowhere to put it in the restaurant they simply said sorry. Here it is Wednesday and still NO PHONE CALL from the Mgr that was promised. Lesson learned NEVER make a private room booking at this place, their customer service is some of the worse I have ever dealt with and lack customer service. It's now 72 hours before my daughter's graduation and everything is still not confirmed. I got the Chicken Parmesan and liked it a lot but not my favorite that I've had. I did enjoy it. I also had a Caprese Salad. The Basalmic Glaze on top makes this dish. This is a quiet little neighborhood Italian place. I've never been for dinner, but have eaten lunch here several times, as it's close to the University of Indianapolis. I've never had a bad meal here -- spinach ravioli, delicious; entree salad with house dressing, good; lasagna -- looks good. Not sure if I've ever tried it. On my last visit, I noticed that you could get veggies instead of pasta a a side to chicken parmigiana and chicken piccata. So I ordered the chicken piccata with veggies. What a lemony delight! There is never a long wait (at least at lunch) and on a nice day, you can sit on their large, covered patio. read more

I grew up close to Beech Grove but haven't had the chance to check out Napoli which has been in the area since 1962. It is an authentic Italian restaurant and you can feel that the minute you arrive. Since it was a Friday night, we did call ahead to book a table for 2 just to be safe. Once we arrived, we were seated right away. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The were open and honest about being understaffed and we appreciated the forewarning. To start, I ordered a water to drink and they bring a basket of bread to the table. My entrée was the Ravioli with alfredo sauce which came with a side salad w/ Italian dressing. The food was served very quickly considering how short staffed they were. Main Street Beech Grove is an overlooked spot that offers some interesting fair. Napoli Villa is a good, classic family run Italian restaurant that's become a go-to when I'm in the area. If you're tired of the same old Olive Garden and looking for something local and fresh, this is a great option. I've had most of the dishes at one point or another, and all of them are good. On my last trip, I had the Chicken Parmesan. You can see in my picture that these are solid pieces of well fried chicken, rather than breaded cutlets reheated. They were crisp and flavorful. Our waitress wasn't very attentive to us, we had to call her over for napkins and she also forgot to ask for a refill after our glass had sat for 20 mins . She wouldn't have even come until our food came out but because we waved her over for a napkin she realized we needed a refill. Although we did not have a reservation, the host staff was so friendly and made room for us immediately! Grace was our server and she was so sweet and friendly. I ordered a sangria and it was delicious. For the main, I ordered the gino vise with veal with a salad with ranch and fettuccine Alfredo (all entrees come with a salad and choice of spaghetti). Salad and bread (complimentary and amazing) came out almost immediately. The salad was great and their ranch was awesome- definitely tasted home made. Food took a little while to come out, but they had a sign saying they were short staffed, so we were more than okay with it and had great conversation while waiting! The gino vese looked a little weird when it was presented, but oh my gosh the flavor was INCREDIBLE. It was a mixture of white wine, pesto, and the pine nuts really gave it the chefs kiss. The Alfredo was a nice side touch and could tell it was homemade as well. My fiance also had the the cacciatore with chicken and his was phenomenal as well. Don't sleep on this place!
