Amazing food and service. This was our first time and we all loved it! The appetizer,salad, main and dessert each out did the other.

We once again enjoyed a meal at Good Omen at the hands of Chef Nicholas Gattone. There were three of us and we shared each course we ordered. Our first course was a typical Sicilian dish, arancini. They were delicious! Next we enjoyed the kale salad made with baby kale. Chef never under or over dresses his salads. And this one was no exception. We particularly liked the hazelnuts sprinkled throughout. We had as our primi casarecce with fava beans and snap peas. Casarecce is an s-shaped pasta that works well with chunky sauces. This dish was outstanding. Finally, at Chef's suggestion, we ordered the Barnsley chop, a thick double lamb loin chop cut from the saddle featuring two T-bones connected by a single piece of meat. It was cooked to perfection and accompanied by a fava bean puree. One of our number exclaimed that she had never had a better piece of lamb. The other two just could not remember, but certainly agreed that it was as good as any lamb we have ever had. And my spouse picked up the bone and chewed meat off of it. We ordered an unusual Rose from the Veneto and it was as perfect addition. We will all be back. read more

Customers brought me here for dinner after we finished work for the day. It was a great end to the day. Our server was delightful and the dinner was next level. I had the pesto and my customers had two of the specials. We all agreed the food was delicious. We ended the meal with some panna cotta, which I had for the first time, and I would come back just for that. All of those food and service is in a small, but well decorated space. We had a wonderful dinner at Good Omen recently. The food was very tasty! All of the sauces tasted so fresh and bright. We got buttered pasta for my toddler and it was the best buttered pasta I've ever had I also was surprised by how much I liked the beans. The sage in the sauce was so great. We had made a reservation ahead of time and I mentioned we were bringing a toddler and they were very prepared for her with a booster seat, plastic plate, and plastic cup all set up before we got there. One of the women who worked there (the owner??) came over during the meal and was so kind about having her there. It made us feel so welcome, because dining out with a toddler can be intimidating sometimes! read more

The food was beautifully presented and the flavors were out of this world and our server, James, only added to the experience. His recommendations were spot on. Good Omen is a great place to celebrate special occasions with your favorite people. We did just that -- celebrated our daughter's 29th birthday -- and it was wonderful! I wish I had more pictures to share, but I was more focused on the celebration itself. Everything I tried was truly delicious. The birthday girl had the vegan Puttanesca and she loved it. Another daughter enjoyed the Risotto with Grilled Lion's Mane (also vegan). Hubby and I shared the Creste Di Gallo pasta dish and I would highly recommend it. We also shared a starter salad, and while I don't recall the name, it was delightful. We also shared a bottle of Chianti for the table which was lovely. We will definitely return! read more

Good Omen or a Bad Omen? Some signs in this review will help you decide. Knowing they don't take reservations (yet) but will in the new year, we arrived just before 5pm for dinner on Wednesday. There was one other table seated. First off, the interior looks a world away from the strip-mall-suburbia-parking-lot-grossness outside. Looked clean. All good so far. It was hard to decide what to order because everything sounded delicious and some items reminded me of things we've had before at Beholder. Because of that I decided to order the cultured butter with seaweed, honey and radishes for a starter. Ordered quail because it is a favorite of mine having grown up eating it. Then the duck main entree with farro, carrot and orange sauce. Our server suggested we order 7 items because this restaurant "does things a little different and items are meant to share". We thank goodness we stuck with our intuition to order a little then add later if needed.... Because... woof... the rest of this review will be hard to write. The cultured butter... not much flavor. I could compound a tastier butter. The honey was one small drizzles on the edge of the butter. I could tell my husband and I were secretly fighting for more butter because it had flavor. The radishes that accompanied were haphazardly chopped into big pieces that you had to cut or chomp into like a Neanderthal. Couldn't cut them up into something more manageable for $13? NOPE. The quail. No. No. Would never eat again. No. No flavor. The breading tasted only of whatever cooking oil it was fried in. The pickles were just ok. More in the bread and butter pickle flavor profile which I loathe but husband is ok with and he didn't even eat the last one so that says everything. And where the F was the honey that was supposed to be on this bird?? Where? Didn't taste it. The duck was the only item I would eat again if forced to come back here. The skin was nicely crisp. Meat tender. Good flavor. It was $52. Thank goodness we didn't order more. I was either full of fed up. Not sure which. And so glad we didn't order the apple and cheese tart thingy special that was $50ish dollars or the bison ribeye that was $72. Let's continue with bad omens... tissue box in the bathroom did not have a cover. Just a paper box thrown in there. I know this is little but if you have a bottle of wine for $1,200 on your wine list you have a bloody tissue box cover. At least one from Amazon. Also cut the blinking Christmas lights. They are distracting and blink very fast and I'm sure someone with neuro problems will have an episode in this place. The service. While the server was pleasant she clearly has never worked in fine dining. She asked if we wanted new plates for our duck after having two previous entrees (which one was a very flaky mess). Why yes... I don't want to have flavorless cultured butter or frying oil on my duck. A new plate, please. It was not a question we needed new plates. Get a sommelier, please. Again $1,200 bottle of wine on the menu. Won't return. A disappointment. My in-laws liked it so we had high hopes. We left and had dessert elsewhere which was the best dish of our 'dinner'. read more

Followed the server's recommendation to split the dishes, and not only was the end bill a fair price but we left happy and satisfied. We chose to split the pasta special and the Caprese; both were flavorful. Had a wonderful and reasonably priced of Pinot blanc to go with our dinner. Some of the previous reviews, I just don't get it. I knew the space was small because I had been in it before with the previous businesses. Someone stated that the tables were on top of each other, not true. I didn't go to the bathroom to see if the tissue box had a cover on it, but everything else looked great. We are not drinking so we didn't get to enjoy any of the many wines they had, but we were able to get a couple of Non Alcoholic drinks that they offer. This was the first meal in a long time that we were happy with, from beginning to end. Started with the Kale salad. Unlike any Kale salad I've had before and it was delicious. The Brown butter vinaigrette was fabulous. Next I had the Butternut Squash ravioli which was cooked perfectly. Shrimp risotto was on special so my husband decided to try it. So yummy. Shrimp had a nice light char and risotto also cooked perfectly. For dessert we enjoyed the Gelato with house made toffee sauce and candied hazelnuts. Deeeeeeelicious! Great place Good Omen!! I gave good omen 5 stars because 6 isn't an option. The team was wonderful. James was a great server and his suggestions for the evening were spot on. We love all of our local restaurants here in Zionsville and our community has a wealth of excellent places to eat. Good Omen fills a space we haven't had until it's opening. The food preparation is truly an art form and the approach to the menu is on par with the quality of some of the best restaurants I've been to. We had the wagyu tomahawk and gnocchi off the winter menu. You should do the same if you stop in this winter. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Good Omen. We made a reservation for a Saturday night in July, but found the restaurant nearly empty when we arrived. The hostess and server were both very friendly and explained to us newbies the style of cuisine and some of the more popular dishes. We chose the focaccia bread with anchovy butter as a starter, then the burrata with tomatoes and cucumbers. The two pasta dishes I tried were amazing. I waited a while to write this review and the menu changes, so I could not remember the exact dishes we got. I do know that my favorite was ravioli with a fava bean sauce. We also shared two desserts that were delicious. Their gelatos are made in-house and the one we tried, bay leaf, was good with subtle flavor. Good Omen is a bit on the pricey side, but all the ingredients are very fresh and you can tell the dishes are made with pride and love. We will definitely be back. read more

Okay, wow! This is some amazing, incredible, and tasty Italian food! My expectations were low, but holy cow. I am so impressed! The appetizers were unreal, the entrees were out of this world, and the wine was spectacular. The service was top notch, the recommended the Chianti, which was perfect. Surprised by some of the negative reviews. Went on a fairly busy Saturday. Our waiter was very helpful and knowledgeable, helped us pick out a good (and affordable) bottle of wine. He also suggested to share the food, which we did and enjoyed. The food was great from start to finish. Started with a salad and then had the duck bolognese and the scallops. The latter being some of the best I've had in the Indy area. Will be back for sure and highly suggest trying. (Also saw a reviewing saying too expensive. We finally had a chance to dine at the newly opened Italian restaurant, Good Omen. We were truly excited to try them out, since we love Italian food and love to support local businesses. We were not disappointed in the menu-first course was the ricotta cheese spread and bread, chickpea frites and capers salad. The real winner was the chickpea frites, gooey inside with a light fried crust-beware of the chili aioli dipping sauce-it's spicy! The portion size of homemade pasta dishes were perfect for sharing with another person or two. We had the rabbit and duck bolognese (a bit spicy but good). Leave room for dessert-the chocolate cake with cocoa gelato was delish. As somewhat of a coffee snob, I believe an Italian restaurant needs an espresso machine, although they did serve French press coffee. We will definitely return for another dining experience-this time hopefully it will be a bit quieter-we couldn't discern if the loudness of the restaurant was from the group off 8 behind us or the acoustics of the space. read more

When I end up at a hidden gem like Good Omen, then get on to Yelp to leave a review about our amazing experience - and read the reasons for the bad reviews - my head wants to explode!!!! First of all - tacking on 5% to your bill for the back staff is not only fair, it's the RIGHT thing to do. Keep going to national chains if this offends you. Secondly - look at the menu online before you go!! It's updated with the current offerings and prices. If you're a picky eater and/or this is too pricey - then DON'T GO! Sorry, rant over..... We met my sis and bro-in-law here tonight for a delayed Christmas dinner. They've traveled all over the world and say this is their fave restaurant in all of Indy Land. We are solidly on their side after tonight! 1) Service - phenomenal. Total teamwork effort. Diana - hostess/co-owner feels like my Mom coming around to check to make sure everything's great. Doja (bar)/ James server) awesome. Poor James on no sleep with newborn to boot. And Exec Chef Nic not only helping deliver food but take time to talk about the food/origins/etc. Top notch all around. 2) Wine - Amazing and thoughtful selection - and on point price wise. Listen to Doja and Nick - they are knowledgeable and will point you in the right direction of a glass that will not only fit your budget - but will complement your meal and be super yummy. 3) Food - Wow - just wow! From the simple focaccia appetizer and the arancini -- to the kale salad and jota bean soup - the co-stars of the meal deserve Oscars. And the mains - the chicken noodle dish and sea bass with razor clams were dynamite. But the butternut squash ravioli was a game changer. The standard menu pricing is normal for a nice Restaurant. The specials are WAY TO EXPENSIVE for what you get. We order the seafood bouillabaisse and shared. It was really great and adequate for two. This restaurant is located in a strip mall so parking is no problem. We dined on a Friday night and had a reservation but it didn't seem necessary as only a few tables were occupied. We had excellent service from Deja who had great knowledge of the unique offerings. We started off with artichokes with lemon aioli. While delicious, there were 2 artichokes for $12. They have an excellent wine list with reasonable and expensive bottles. By the glass, $12 or $14 which I find irritating. Hubs chose the duck bolognese for his entree and the portion was enough for sharing( or taking home as leftovers). He found it to be delicious. I had the agnotolli with ricotta, fava sauce, beet and sorel. I just didn't care for it. The pasta was very Al dente and the sauce bland. We also shared broccoli which was heavy on the garlic and somewhat bitter. I admit to being a picky eater so there wasn't much on the menu that appealed to me and so I probably wouldn't return as much as I wanted to like the place. I'm not fond of the 5% added in for the back of the house. Peruse the menu before going and you may enjoy it. Quite expensive. read more

We ordered a variety of appetizers, dishes served family style, and drinks. The staff members were very friendly and made wonderful wine pairing selections. Beyond mediocre. Charcuterie "board" was bland cheese on a dinner plate. Pumpkin tortelli had the most overpowering vinegar sauce that ruined the dish and the pasta was hard as a rock. The lamb shank with risotto was cooked well but again, had an abundance of vinegar based sauce that overpowered everything. The acidity in the dish needed to be cut to be considered edible. The NY strip and bolognese were good but I wouldn't go back for it. Ended with a great olive oil cake and pistachio gelato that turned my 1 star review into 2.
