    Stuffed crust pizza

First time visiting. Server was friendly and attentive. Had the stuffed crust pizza - it was very good - the pizza dough is the one best I've had. We will be coming back.

Friends picked up Pizza and Garlic Rolls today for lunch. My first garlic roll was really good. Love the cheese. My second Garlic Roll was raw in the middle. The pizza was great. Loved the crust and the huge slices. Could have used more pepperoni but I don't think any pizza has enough pepperoni. Sauce was great too. Would definitely have the pizza again.

Delicious, local feel, nice portion sizes, high food quality, You can stop in any time of the day and everything is the same. Good consistency!

Sal's can be fast food with style. If you want to eat right away they have a large selection of pizza by the slice, calzones, breadsticks and salads. Just order and choose a table with linen tablecloths. They will bring it right out on nice ceramic dishes. Or you can order a pizza made from scratch. They also have plenty of other Italian dishes to choose from. Usually there is Jazz music playing. Don't forget to order a chocolate chip cookie for dessert.

This isn't a terrible option for pizza or pasta in Mooresville. But if it wasn't in the middle of nowhere I'm not sure it would survive. The bread sticks are pretty dry and the lasagna is flat (literally - it was less than 1/2 inch tall). The marinara tastes like it is straight out of a can. The dining room is clean and classy though.

I wanted Italian and didn't want to drive to Greenwood or Avon, but I wish that I had. I hesitated at the door when I walked into Sal's because the door was filthy. That's usually a sign that there's either no management or bad management. It's similar to the broken windows theory that the little things affect the big things, and my suspicion was, unfortunately, confirmed. I dined outside, and the tablecloths were filthy. The server was a very nice young lady, but she'd never been trained even to notice things like dirty tablecloths and windows. It's the management's fault, not the employee. The bathroom was also filthy; someone had a toilet emergency, but nobody did anything about it. What about the kitchen? I can only presume that the filthy theme also carries the day in the back. The entire experience made me wish that I'd read the county health department inspection results before I went in. I will never go back, but the owners should take charge and fix the deficiencies.

nice dining area and easy order counter by the slice

I stopped by for lunch and ordered a couple slices and an order of breadsticks. The slices are huge (1/6th of a 20" pizza = 10" long and about 9" across!) They have the pizza slices sitting out for you to select the type and then they do a quick reheat in the ovens to make sure it is warm when served. After prepaying, I grabbed a seat in the dining room which looks bigger and cleaner than on my previous visit a few years ago. It probably isn't any bigger, but it felt like there was plenty of room. Before long, my order was ready and I went back to the counter to pick it up. I grabbed some napkins and utensils in case I needed them from a counter to the left of the order window. They also have a beverage dispenser to the right. The slices were served individually on their own plates. I started with a supreme pizza that I believe they call the Southside Special. It comes with pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, onions and peppers. After a quick dabbing with my napkin to get the excess grease from the top, I noticed the the green peppers and the onions were in large clumps. The cook had sliced them, but not all the way across, so I had to manually separate the pieces and spread them across the pizza so that I could have some in each bite. And when I tried to lift the pizza to eat it, the center was so soft that it drooped and spilled the topping onto the plate. I understand they may want their pizza slices to be folded, but this was just soggy and disappointing. Fortunately, the flavor was good. If they could just crisp the crust a bit before so that centers got done, it would improve the customer satisfaction a star or two! I moved on to the sausage and pepperoni slice and it was in better shape, but still had a lot of grease on top. I guess I should have left it since the sausage was so mild that it barely had any flavor. The pepperoni were okay and the crust had a nice crispness to the bite while still being able to fold it. It is sad that a local restaurant can't get the consistency down so that customers want to keep coming back. As it was served, the pizza wasn't any better than a reheated frozen pizza I can get at the store. Sure, the portions are generous, but I will pay for better quality if I can count on it. This was our first time eating food from here. Got home and our breadsticks are hard as rocks. Not good at all.

We are new to the area and people recommended Sals and we got home and our breadsticks are hard as a rock! Not good:(

I would come back to this place in a heartbeat and get the salmon again. Since I am celiac, I couldn't get the pasta so I just put it on vegetables, but it was really good I might get an appetizer next time. The place was actually kind of small and not that many tables. A booking through OpenTable would be a good idea for you.

Every meal seems a little lacking and leaves you wanting a little bit more but the atmosphere and staff are nice which helps to balance the disappointment. We ordered the bruschetta as our appetizer, it was enjoyable but more olive forward than we were expecting. I ordered the arugula salad which did say it had spinach in it. However, it was a mainly spinach salad. I opted to add chicken to it and ask our waitress if the chicken was seasoned and worth the ad and she assured me that it was. Unfortunately it was not seasoned and it was very bland reminding me of the pre-packaged chicken pockets you can buy at Costco. Had I known I wouldn't have added it as it did not add anything to the salad. My friend really wanted the brussel sprout salad and apparently they did not have brussel sprouts so it was only romaine salad so she opted for a pasta dish instead. We appreciated our waitress giving us the heads up and confirming that she still wanted the salad with the changes that would be made to it. We ended the evening by sharing a tiramisu for her birthday along with an espresso martini. The dessert options were nice, but the espresso martini wasn't traditional; it was more Baileys-forward than expected. Overall, it's a decent restaurant for a casual meal but it hasn't offered anything that would make us eager to return or crave another visit.

The food was outstanding, I ordered Linguine Frutti di Mare- homemade linguine ( delicious) served with clams, mussels, scallops? Shrimp, cherry tomatoes, evoo, garluc, parsley cooked in a white wine sauce!!! As you can see I absolutely hated it... lol! I has an expression and lava cake for dessert. The lava cake was a little overcooked- that is the only complaint.... Other than the lady sitting across the table from me that talked loud enough for the whole restaurant to hear her conversation. I wish people would be more observant and realize they don't have to talk so loud when they're sitting at their table it made it difficult to hear the piano player and it went from a relaxing stress free feeling to an annoyance. I was so happy when her food arrived. This place is very special. It's very small. I got in because it was very early in the evening. I believe their doors open at 5 o'clock. I would highly recommend reservations, but if you have a special occasion that you're celebrating, and it appeared that several people did this is worth the drive!

I'll be there more often now that I've experienced it in person. Prior to my recent visit for my son's birthday, I had only enjoyed carryout from Da Vinci. Usually a pizza, sometimes the Chicken Parm which is often a go-to Italian dish for me and both were good. But not mind blowing good, especially for the price. We ordered it for some variety, and enjoyed it, but going in person was a completely different experience. We went on a Wednesday night (half-price wine bottle night) and it was crowded. I understand it's always crowded and is only open for evenings during the week. But we were seated immediately as there were only three of us. There were a couple of larger groups waiting for a big table. The restaurant is downtown'ish' and the parking isn't the best, but plenty of side streets around and we were able to get a spot within a block. The only real parking lot is across the street and is owned by the church charging $7 a day for parking. Not sure what the evening rules are and I was neither interested in paying $7 to park in Bloomington nor being towed so we went with a slightly longer walk. Table started with the garlic cheese bread appetizer. It was huge. A full platter of their special bread, cheese and a sauce that may have had some ricotta in it but that didn't deter me from liking it. Normally ricotta is an automatic 'no' but it was delish. I might mention they also provide a carafe full of water so I didn't have to wait for constant refills, which is a great addition. For our mains, son and wife ordered pizzas, and I had the chicken parm. Both enjoyed their pizzas of course and luckily wife didn't eat all of hers so I was able to enjoy a piece as well. The pizzas are individual sized, though on the larger side - maybe 12"? Still a bit pricey at around $18 for a 12" pizza which is probably why I didn't love the delivery option. Plenty of delivered pizzas in Bloomington below that price point. But in the restaurant which was nicely decorated, great service, etc. it seemed appropriate. My chicken parm was amazing. Plenty of pasta on the side, just the right amount of gooey cheese on the chicken and all in all a great dish. Much like the delivery reaction to the pizza, the price and quality in the restaurant for my dish was just better than the delivery option. My only complaint might be that with my pasta/chicken dish a piece or two of bread would have been nice. We were full and didn't have dessert. A great experience, and we will definitely return. For a town that has just about every ethnic food option available it's remarkably under-served in the Italian space. Now that I have this as a sit-down option, the world is a little better. Next time I'm sitting outside on the patio, it looked like fun as well.
