Not a fan of the prices. I went here because I have been at 2 different parties that served the garlic knots and I loved them. I was seated quickly at 5:30 pm during the week. Which was great. While I wanted on my friends I tried the bread and sauce they provided at the table. The bread was very soft but I really didn't like the sauce. I ordered the 3 cheese ravioli, which I asked the waitress if they made the ravioli there she had no clue. I really liked but if there is a next time I will have sauce on the side or order lite red sauce. 1 person had the pizzas and said it was good. 1 had lasagna it was a huge helping she couldn't eat it all, she said it was alright. 1 had some type of calzone she finished it so she must have liked it. Friends picked up Pizza and Garlic Rolls today for lunch. My first garlic roll was really good. Love the cheese. My second Garlic Roll was raw in the middle. The pizza was great. I wanted Italian and didn't want to drive to Greenwood or Avon, but I wish that I had. I hesitated at the door when I walked into Sal's because the door was filthy. That's usually a sign that there's either no management or bad management. It's similar to the broken windows theory that the little things affect the big things, and my suspicion was, unfortunately, confirmed. I dined outside, and the tablecloths were filthy. The server was a very nice young lady, but she'd never been trained even to notice things like dirty tablecloths and windows. It's the management's fault, not the employee. The bathroom was also filthy; someone had a toilet emergency, but nobody did anything about it. What about the kitchen? I can only presume that the filthy theme also carries the day in the back. The entire experience made me wish that I'd read the county health department inspection results before I went in. I will never go back, but the owners should take charge and fix the deficiencies. read more

I stopped by for lunch and ordered a couple slices and an order of breadsticks. The slices are huge (1/6th of a 20" pizza = 10" long and about 9" across!) They have the pizza slices sitting out for you to select the type and then they do a quick reheat in the ovens to make sure it is warm when served. After prepaying, I grabbed a seat in the dining room which looks bigger and cleaner than on my previous visit a few years ago. It probably isn't any bigger, but it felt like there was plenty of room. Before long, my order was ready and I went back to the counter to pick it up. I grabbed some napkins and utensils in case I needed them from a counter to the left of the order window. They also have a beverage dispenser to the right. The slices were served individually on their own plates. I started with a supreme pizza that I believe they call the Southside Special. It comes with pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, onions and peppers. After a quick dabbing with my napkin to get the excess grease from the top, I noticed the the green peppers and the onions were in large clumps. The cook had sliced them, but not all the way across, so I had to manually separate the pieces and spread them across the pizza so that I could have some in each bite. And when I tried to lift the pizza to eat it, the center was so soft that it drooped and spilled the topping onto the plate. I understand they may want their pizza slices to be folded, but this was just soggy and disappointing. Fortunately, the flavor was good. If they could just crisp the crust a bit before so that centers got done, it would improve the customer satisfaction a star or two! I moved on to the sausage and pepperoni slice and it was in better shape, but still had a lot of grease on top. I guess I should have left it since the sausage was so mild that it barely had any flavor. The pepperoni were okay and the crust had a nice crispness to the bite while still being able to fold it. It is sad that a local restaurant can't get the consistency down so that customers want to keep coming back. As it was served, the pizza wasn't any better than a reheated frozen pizza I can get at the store. Sure, the portions are generous, but I will pay for better quality if I can count on it. My husband got the panzerotti calzone he bumped the stars up to 5. I would have to say my pizza was great. (toppings of the veggie calzone on a small pizza) The crust was excellent but the center of the pizza was a bit undercooked that's why I would give it 4 stars Morgan was a great help. I would never guess this is an old KFC. The inside is well decorated and the bathroom is really clean. We didn't sample much -- ice waters and a cheese pizza. The pie came out perfectly cooked with a really good tangy tomato sauce. The service was friendly. Our server did not come by very often, but came over every time I signaled her. The staff is young and learning. Dinner for two with leftover was less than $15. Can't beat it. read more

I was over this way for work and decided to stop for dinner. The kid making my pizza burnt it, which really isn't a problem..... except then he started slamming stuff and yelling. Then he sent out pepperoni pizza and when I sent it back, he was even more upset. It's not a big deal if you fix it, but there is no reason to be a hot head. After talking to a teenage employee and his mom (who was there dining), I've decided to call the owner tomorrow to chat about it and I'll give them another chance when I'm in town. I have a friend who works at the Mooresville location. I said I love local restaurants, but I ate at the Plainfield location many years ago and was served frozen meatballs. Believe me, it is very easy to know the difference between frozen mystery meat and real meatballs. This employee verified my suspicion and said that was a management decision by the mother (sal's wife?) to try and cut food costs. They apparently still use frozen meatballs at Plainfield and Brownsburg and reportedly get plenty of complaints about it. The son, who runs the Mooresville location refused to compromise quality and they roll hundreds of REAL meatballs daily. It was recommended that I give Sal's another try, so I did go the the Moorsville location and it WAS good !!! It was cold outside and the old building is probably hard to keep warm, so I had to keep my coat on which was not great. Everything tasted fresh and was made to order, so I'll give them a good rating and recommend you try the son's location in Mooresville. read more

I visited here recently with friends. We dined in. I definitely agree with another posted who commented on the fact that the building used to be a KFC... It's unbelievably clean and nice inside. Food was pretty good. I got the lasagna, which came with a tasty Caesar side salad. The red sauce was good, but maybe a bit too acidic. The service was friendly and attentive, though our waiter seemed a bit frazzled at times. Younger teenager. No big deal. Drinks were refilled quickly. Prices were reasonable. Very pleasant atmosphere and good food. My husband and I decided to drop in last minute and try this place for lunch. Upon entering it'd a pleasant surprise. The outside looks like it's going to be a greasy little pizza joint but the inside definitely brings up a few notches to quaint little Italian place. The food presentation is desirable. The staff friendly. We were both loving this place as we proceeded through our order. Things got a little heated when I watched the line cook in the back take my broccoli calzone out of the oven and into the microwave. I asked the guy ringing us up if I was correct in what I saw and he said yes. So I replied saying could you mot please( that is a huge pet pev of mine and I didn't want rubbery cheese. No thank you). The cook who put it in there got this extremely annoyed look on his face and aggitatedly pulled it out, plopped a sauce container on the plate and slid it onto the counter. The guy at the register was polite and tried explaining the reason behind the method. I told him that was fine but that I just don't appreciate someone reheating my food in the microwave. I wasn't trying to piss any body off. The way that the cashier handled it saved the experience for me. I really didn't like how quick the cook was to get super intense about my request which is not that big of a deal to begin with. If I, the customer, say that I don't want it reheated in the microwave then you should politely comply. Not throw a fit and look at me like I'm a bitch. The food was pretty decent. A little to much cheese for my liking but the broccoli was fresh and the overall flavor was nice. The marinara is made in house and was simply amazing. Then i was given the bill to be paid before even receiving the food and was asked for a "tip" at that time. Been here a few times and the food is decent. It has been a while since i've had anything so I decided to get a small pie and the garlic knots. I've have the garlic knots over a dozen times, from here and from the Plainfield location. They have always been out of this world, but something has changed. Today's knots had no garlic or butter on them. The dough was also unusually chewy also. On to the pie. The pizza was a diamond in the rough here in M-Ville, not today. Had a sausage, mushroom and olive pie and there was no very much sausage on it. From the photos of recent pizza's I thought I would be getting a sausage heavy pie. There were 3 slices of pizza that had nothing on them. It was loaded with mushrooms and olives in the middle of the pizza, not very much sausage. Also, the crust, which looks like it's going to be really good (like a perfectly toasted and crispy breadstick) just lays flat and chewy. Hopefully some changes are made, as this was a great place to go, even if it was just for a order of the garlic knots.... if today's order is what's it's going to be like, I don't think it will be worth going to anymore. read more

HORRIBLE! I never write reviews but this place is rock bottom. Bunch of dumb women working behind the counter who probably can't figure out how to change a light bulb. They stand there doing nothing and are incredibly rude. I ordered breadsticks for an appetizer and a 12 inch pizza. I waited about 15 minutes and the pizza came out... before my appetizer. They lady said she would be right back with my bread sticks. Wrong. Acting sitting there waiting for 10 minutes I went up to the counter to complain and they hadn't even made them yet.
