Three of My Trees Needed a Pro. Better Call Sal! A very Large Cedar tree did not make it through the winter. I think it was about 30 feet high. And I had a 20 foot tall Pecan tree that died also. When Sal's crew arrived, they informed me I also had one more dead Pecan tree. The trees were a bit crowded, so when the men finished thinning out, the overall effect was very pleasing to the eye. And the crew ground the stumps down, filled the holes and cleaned everything up. It is hard to tell Sal's crew were ever there bringing down those tall trees and reducing it all to mulch. When the crew found the third dead tree (a Pecan) they quickly estimated a price, but it was over my budget, so I told them "next time". Sal's guy agreed to knock off $200, and get it all done so this job would look great, and the problem was off my list. I was not angling for a discount but it made it worthwhile to squirm for the extra. And I realized they were so right when I saw the finished result looked just beautiful with all the trees attended to. Sal, I am glad your guys can "think of Their Feet". Sals is the best for tree trimming thinning. Taking them down and going the stumps. I used his company for our irrigation system also. They installed a new back flow valve, another valve that controls the backyard and got all my heads working properly. My wife and I cant say enough great things about this company. I'm sure these guys normally do great work, but on my only day off, the last thing I want to hear at 7:00 are CHAINSAWS going off right outside my window! Last I heard, no outdoor work "should" start any earlier than 8:00 (unless I am just old-school and courteous about things). This crew also, in the process of working, had to remove the gate on my next door neighbors fence, but now my gate is all warped and leaning in a direction it shouldn't be, and the crew just tried acting like no one spoke English when I tried telling them it wasn't that way before they got there in the morning. If I needed work done, I would probably look in 1000 different places before I contacted this company. read more

The receptionist that takes all calls over charges the customer, double bills the customer. We asked for a quote when we decided to return to them it was just a quote, and have Sal return to return are call to say how much he will charge to cut and edge grass. Sal never called and came out to mow grass without our consent then billed us for $122.00, I refused to pay because I never gave them permission to enter my property and cut the grass. He came out to look, give me an estimate and scheduled a crew to be out the next morning. They went above and beyond. They cut down almost 2 trees. Put all branches through a cutter and cleaned up. We had a leak in our main irrigation/sprinkler system, not a bad leak but enough to cause issues in upcoming winter months. I called at least 3 places and all of them quoted hourly labor prices + parts if needed. However, all of them had lead time of 3 to 7 days. Sal's had the lowest bid and the issue could be resolved the same day. I agreed. Julio came over (good that he could speak English), looked at the area and started digging where the leak seemed to be. He figured out the issue, fixed it, put the dirt back to fill the hole and was done. He was honest to say that the work did not need additional parts, just labor only. Sal does work in my neighborhood and I just had them out for two days trimming LOTS of trees, cutting my hedges, cleaning out my beds and laying mulch. This service in general is not cheap...and you usually get what you pay for. Sal had a large crew out and lots of nice, professional equipment. When they finished, I literally said, "That was so worth it!" They canopied and opened up my trees so much -- it shows off my house, my grass will grow better, it's cleaner. They don't leave any trace of being there -- my property was completely clean of debris, branches and leaves. Sal's responsiveness from the first time I called him, to coming out for a thorough estimate, following up, and his attention to detail with his crew's work, really demonstrate that he truly cares about customer service, his reputation and doing good work. I hired Sal to trim trees for our homeowners association. Sal did a good job so we called him back to do some additional work. Unfortunately, after initially agreeing to do the work he ignored multiple attempts to reach him in the office and on his cell phone over two months. It's obvious he didn't want to take on the smaller job but he should have said so. His unprofessionalism has cost him our future HOA business as well as being listed as a preferred vendor in our neighborhood. I recommend you hire someone who appreciates and values repeat business. read more

We had a old tree in the yard that was damaged and needed to come out. They came out and gave a a fair estimate and came out the day after to do the work. I have huge trees and in the past 20 years have used several tree trimmers. This year was my second year with Sal and by far my biggest job. He and his employees are very professional and talented. Through trial and error, I've come to believe tree trimming is very physical labor mixed with an eye for aesthetics. Without the aesthetic side, it's easy to pay tons and be very disappointed. MY TREES ARE BEAUTIFUL! Sal showed up as promised, came back as promised, cleaned up as though they were never there, and everyone was courteous and kind. I will always recommend Sal's. One more thing...the price was certainly fair. The job had approximately 200 man-hours in it and a large amount of equipment was required. read more

After calling 4 other tree Service companies and having only 1 return my call, I called Sal's Landscape and Tree Service. Not only did he call me back but he came out the same day to look at the tree. We had a large broken branch hanging in our neighbors yard and over their $2000 fountain! He knew we had storms coming in 2 days so he sent a crew the very next morning to cut down the branch. They cleaned up all debris and made me and my neighbor very happy! Mike Hernandez is the estimator and very good at his job. BTW, the other company that came out wanted $900 for 1 branch, plus it would be a week before they came back. Horrible experience with this company. Nelson, owner's brother, came to gave an estimate and didn't write half of the stuffs we talked about. He didn't remember half the stuffs that was said and tried to swindle more money on service day. He kept denying everything I said. I specifically said on the day of the estimate for him to CUT of the branches hanging over the fence into the alley and to CUT the branches going towards the roof. They just trimmed a few little branches on the trees that didn't need a lot of work. Only two trees out of four was done correctly per discussion. Nelson was very rude, aggressive and deceitful. He said "You don't have to get more done but if you want you gonna have to pay more!" He said that I wasted his time but in fact he wasted his own time for not doing it correctly and trying get more money. Felt like I was being scammed!! He wrote "balance canopy" on two trees that was in questioned and....how was that balanced when branches stuck over the fence into the alley on one side of the tree? Their own workers even said Nelson should have written it down more on paper. Go figure, his own people even said that. I called the office and wanted to talk to the owner, Sal, and thought he would say something like....that's not how we do business, that's hot how we treat our customer but nope..didn't get anything every near those phrases. He didn't acknowledge how rude Nelson/brother was and simply just put it as missed communication and lesson learned for all of us. He said multiple times that people tried to take advantage of him and wanted more as if he was a victim in this case. At the end of it. I paid extra because I needed it done; and because they didn't have the integrity to hold up to the bargain. Lesson learned, I can weed out a place like this from now on. I suggest anyone that reading this to record the conversation that was discussed openly so both parties would know exactly what what said. Also take pictures before, print and mark everything that needs to be done. It's sad that a place like this existed to try to see what more they can get just simply by denying everything and hope people pay more. I believe in and support local businesses. But when they are blatantly wrong, rude and manipulative...people needs to know. I would give other tree service a try. read more

We have been using Sal's for years to do our yard maintenance and special projects, most recently upgrading our front and back yards by improving our backyard's drainage system, adding new pallets of grass, trimming an overgrown tree, installing a composite granite walk way, and replacing mulch in the garden areas. Very unprofessional and disrespectful. My neighbors required their services yesterday and guess what, they parked their truck in front of my garage. I was sitting in my car waiting for them to move their truck. They saw me and did nothing. I then procceded to call the customer service line and wad told a manager will call me, no one called and the truck was still blocking my drive way. Finally I had to call the police. Never resquest their service, ever. Rude, unprofessional and without any common sense describes how these people operate. read more

I do not recommend them. We had them level my yard and plant grass. We told him we can water it if he will mow and take care of the rest he said yes. We did our part and my yard started dying in spots and he came back out and laid more grass but now my whole yard is dead and has weeds all in it. I know it isn't anything we did because the part of our grass that we didn't have them plant is green and beautiful. So we listened to him telling us that the grass he planted was good but it sucks and the part of our yard that he didn't plant is Saint Augustine the grass he planted was Palesasia (however it is spelt) . We have called and texted and he asked what the heck did we do to our yard and I've asked him to come out and he hasn't. He tells me this grass doesn't do this and nobody else has complained about this grass but I'm paid all this money and it looks like crap. My neighbors have said they have seen them drive by and look at my yard but won't stop and talk to us about what they can do to fix it. My neighbors also asked why it looks so uneven and is sad when they say you got screwed. I wish we would have just went with what grass we wanted but we listened to them since this is their business we figured they knew what they were talking about. read more

I agree with Beau B. This guy Sal is so unprofessional - does not return calls.....his office staff is useless. He supposedly removed a large tree from my yard and guess what - it is growing back. We asked him to come out every two weeks for the last 3 months and have not heard or seen him. Do yourself a favor and find someone else. read more

After receiving multiple quotes, we used Sal's to clean up landscaping and install a sprinkler system at our new home and we are thrilled with the results. Anyone who has tried to book a landscape company this time of year knows how difficult it can be. This company was cutting a tree down in my neighbor's yard on 12/24/14 and we recently moved and knew a tree in our backyard was rotting. We walked over and inquired about a quote. The supervisor came over and gave us a quote to cut down, remove the debris, and also trim some other trees. These guys were very quick and professional. We will use them again! read more

Sal's guys did an awesome job. The clean-up was even perfect. I've hired other tree trimmers that might have been cheaper but nowhere near as good. These guys are safe too. They use ropes and spot each other while in the trees. Highly recommend. read more

I am so pleased with the work that was done. J.R. came out to give me a more than fair estimate for the tree trimming I needed. The workers did a phenomenal job removing large limbs on my oak trees, trimming dead limbs and taking extra weight off the tree, and removing two trees along with grinding the stumps. Our neighborhood association has used Sal's tree trimming for years and now we have expanded it to include an annual neighborhood tree trimming event. Everyone loves this and looks forward to it. JR comes out here with his team who are very professional and polite. They truly go out of their way to make everything wonderful. They are extremely careful and they clean up all the debris better than it was before. They do stump grinding and he brings a chipper so there are never any branches left on the side of the street. They do very fast work as well but still do a very good job. No job is ever too big or too small. JR is awesome he really tries to work with the people on the prices too. Our HOA property looks amazing since they started coming out to clean up downed trees and branches after the storms now we do this as an annual event for our neighbors. Absolutely the best company I have ever dealt with when it come to tree trimming and removal. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who is looking for this type of service. Don't use this Tree Service. Sal planted and trimmed trees at my home and 3 rental properties in Plano/Frisco. After planting 3 trees at the same time, one died 3 months later. I called him three times to come out and look at the tree. I also asked him to honor his 1 year warrantee. He never came by to look at tree. He tried to tell me over the phone that the tree died because I didn't water it even though he planted 2 other trees at the same time. read more

We have used Sals Landscape before for a patio project and called them again recently for a tree trimming job. They come when they say they will come and do what they say they will do. They also clean up after the job. I recommended them to my mother who is very particular about her yard and their work even satisfied her. Dishonest, unprofessionally owned business. Caused property damage to my property and refuses to take responsibility. Owner Sal argued that his vehicles could not cause the damage that obviously could only have been done by his large vehicles. He argued that if I did not see the damage when it happened I had no proof. When I told him I had it on surveillance video he hung up on me. Do yourself a huge favor and stay clear of this unprofessional business. If you notice on his web page it makes no mention of being insured and bonded, first red flag. Also not accredited by the BBB, but has several complaints, another red flag. YELP makes you give at least one star, but I give negative stars. Beware. read more

I used them more than once, sadly. They do very poor work. Horrible clean up! They left trash in my yard (water bottles and food wrappers and didn't finish their normal debris pick up. I have woods behind my house and I saw them throw a lot of stuff back there. They did not do all the work they said they would and they damaged some property as well. The guy in charge of the tree crew was a real piece of work too. Slimy and shady. Their prices weren't too bad, but I will not use them again. DO NOT USE SAL'S TREE SERVICE! read more
