Bergenline staple for pizza! Sal's Pizza Bar might be it's new name but I remember when it was Sal's Pizza. To me it's a nostalgic spot that I used to go to as a young grade school kid. But this is a revamped upgraded version. When in town I decided to go down memory lane and stop in late night for a couple of slices. They are now split between a pizza place and a sit down restaurant/bar area. We decided to get a couple of slices and a Sal's own orange soda. The slices were really good. No flop and good crust. The ratio of cheese and sauce were spot on. We ended up getting a couple more slices because we devoured the first ones. The orange soda was ok. Would go with the dark cherry next time. Staff were super friendly and attentive. Glad to see Sal's still cranking solid slices out and looking forward to them continuing to be a staple of Bergenline. read more

So I recently started going to Sal's again since they rebuilt after the fire and let me tell you...the pizza is sooo good! Hands down one of the best I've ever had. I've eaten in and ordered to go and either way it's always hot and fresh. Their bread is delicious, but the stuffed shells are my absolute favorite. What's wild is my mom used to come here after school when she was a kid, and when she had it again after the renovation she said it brought her right back. That says everything! The staff is fantastic super sweet and welcoming. The renovation made the space bright, clean, and cozy with plenty of seating but not so much that it feels crowded. Oh man, this place fell off! I used to love ordering from here when I worked close by so was excited to hear they were open again after the fire. My mushroom pizza had vinegary canned mushrooms!!! Arrived cold. Chicken Parmesan was stringy meat and tasted like it had eggshells in it. Cesar salad was a soggy slopping watery mess with the world's tiniest croutons. Never again sals. Pleasant staff that are attentive, friendly and accommodating. Yes, the slices did shrink a bit. But there was NO LOSS in flavor. Everything on the menu is made with the intention to please the customer. If not please with anything regarding food or service the owner will tend to correcting the situation immediately. Decided to give Sal's pizza a try after Barstool Dave posted his review about the pizza shop a couple weeks ago. Romano's had become our go to WNY pizza shop however it has now been usurped by Sals. We placed our order through UberEats but when our driver/order kept getting delayed, we canceled and decided to call them directly to place the order - worth it. We ordered a plain pie with half pepperoni topping and an order of mozz sticks. They told us 30-40 minutes but it felt like it came in 20. As Dave described, their pizza is a solid traditional NY pie. The dough was perfectly crispy and the pie was cooked well. Their mozz sticks were also good - 6 to an order and tasty marinara sauce. I was a little frustrated about something with my client and the server completely understood and even gave me a water before I left. I had the veggie wrap with what I believe was eggplant. This is my go to pizza spot when I'm feeling lazy, don't want to go anywhere or I'm in the area so I can call in an order to go. If I'm craving a good cheese pizza or chicken parmigiana dinner, which is what I usually get! The delivery time is very quick although they usually give you a longer estimate of time which I prefer! I know they have a bar restaurant side and the pizzeria area. I've only been to the pizzeria side, which has about 6 tables where you can sit down and enjoy your meal, they have a variety of fountain and bottled drinks. Service is fast and they accept cash and all major credit cards, however there is a minimum which I believe is $15. They are a little pricey not too much, compared to other pizza places that usually have a deal and are also good. Absolutely amazing pizza and every dish we had blew us away. The calamari is very finely breaded and crispy and delicious. We tried the upside down pizza, it was the best pizza l have ever had, try it! Any dish you try here will be made with love, the owner will come by and visit your table or seat at the bar if it is not too busy. A real taste of the old style Italian food. Unfortunately, after their 50th anniversary a couple years ago, the place burned down, but they did a fantastic job remodeling and making it nicer than it was before. Sals is our go to for Sicilian pizza. It's super light and doughy and reminds me of pizza from where I grew up in PA. I opted in to add basil to half the pizza this time and glad I did. I've been going to Sals for over 40 years. It's never been a high end but always consistent and delicious. Service is fast and courteous. Place is split into two parts. A small restaurant side and a standard pizzeria type side which has been around since they opened in the seventies. Pizzeria side looks badly frayed at the edges and could use a major face lift.
