I was quoted $300 for a basic alteration to a suit for my Dad's wedding and the suit was only $250 itself. He stated that he's doing me a favor because he normally charges $500. Isaac was very kind and seemed very knowledgeable and professional, but of course saved the hefty price for the end, and to top it off asked for immediate payment in full. When I got the suit back, the suit jacket came out good, but that pants were terrible. They sagged in the groin area and the hem was average. I had no time to ask for an alteration because my event was already the next day. Leaving this place of business made me feel swindled and upset about the quality of work received. Met by Isaac as I walked up to the store. Very friendly greeting and I felt very welcomed as we both walked up to the counter. I had three three (3) suit coats which required altering. Isaac had me try each one on so he could see how they fit, hung on my shoulders, chest, and body. All coats needed extensive altering and Isaac stated the alterations could be done at a reasonable price and in a timely manner. I've been wanting a tweed suit for a long time and couldn't find any brick and mortar stores that carry them, so I had to buy one online. Since I bought mine online from the UK, I wasn't quite sure how the suit would fit and figured I'd better get it bigger than my size in order to make up for the fitted sizing since I was planning on getting it tailored anyway. When the suit came, it turned out that I got the pants way too big. I came to Isaak at Sal's tailor and he was super helpful and friendly from the start. He communicated well and made the process very easy. Because he had to remove material, he basically made me a custom fit suit and it fits beautifully and was done on time. You want to make sure that the person you are entrusting your clothes with does a professional job that leaves you absolutely impressed. Sal's Tailor shop will do just that, and Isaac is the best tailor I have personally ever encountered. Everything is done handmade by the way, the old school way. I recently got married, and he made sure my suit had fit to perfection, with very little time to complete the job (I only gave him about 10 days to do so during a very busy month). I really cannot recommend this tailor based on my experience, I have waited to post a review until I was far out from the experience and less irritated. I needed the hem on a bridesmaid dress shortened, and one small section of lace re-tacked to the bodice I went in about a month before the wedding (brought the dress late Aug/ very early Sept for an early October wedding), and was told I could pick it up the Monday before the wedding, but to expect a call a week or so before pick up for a fitting before finalizing the hem. I explained that we were leaving for the destination wedding on Thursday before dawn, so I would like it no later than Monday. The price for the hem was higher than I was hoping, and I was asked to pay up front. I've never done that for alterations before, it's not the norm. I knew it would likely run upwards of 75, but it ended up being double that and pressing was extra. That was a first, and I'm no stranger to alterations. I figured since I paid a hefty amount for a high quality dress and that this is a formal wear specialty shop and convenient location I would just suck it up and pay. No aspect of the service I received justified the cost. I had to call about the dress more than once to inquire as to its status, and every time the shop was too busy to accommodate a fitting. Homecoming was the reason, yet all three times I went to the shop it was empty of all customers except for myself. Maybe I'm being petty and it's a coincidence. I was finally able to get in on Tues, October 4, when we were due to leave on Thursday October 6. The hem length was as it should be, but the tailor tacked the lace to the bodice in a way that did not lay as nice as it should have, but there was no time to fix it at this point. I was told I could pick it up the next day (Weds October 5) after 5pm. The hem length was fine. This dress clearly sat for almost a month trimmed to length and un-hemmed. The lining hem was sloppily rolled and sewn. Additionally, I had to sit the morning of the wedding and trim all of the loose threads hanging off of it from where the fabric had begun to fray. LONG threads, all the way around, some almost an inch long. It would have been preferable that the frayed lining be trimmed before it was hemmed if it was going to sit that long. Maybe I'm nitpicking, but I really expected more from a tailor shop that specializes in wedding and formal wear and charges a premium. I will say that if you choose to use this tailor, that you say you need your item far earlier than you actually do. The owner himself is nice and personable, but that doesn't really matter if the service isn't there. I will not be returning, nor would I recommend this shop to anyone else. There are better out there. Edit in response to George: No, I do not have your shop confused with anywhere else. I have not had other $300 dresses altered recently, or any other dress within the last eight years. After quoting me the price to hem, you told me it would be an additional price for pressing and was I okay with that. I confirmed Yes. We even had a conversation about how to get wrinkles out of tulle if the dress wrinkled in our travels. If my dress was an example of the Quality Control checks in your shop, then whoever does them needs a refresher course. In no way is bunched hems and several dozen hanging threads acceptable. You pushed my dress to the absolute last possible minute and backed me into a corner as far as accepting your work. I sincerely hope what I experienced was not the norm, because it really is unacceptable. read more

The quality of works was just ok. I picked this place due to distance and 4.5 stars. It's very expensive, the hemp alteration cost more than the price of the bridesmaids dress. My daughter and I dropped the dress on Jan 8 and was promised Feb 10, and I requested the dress to be done by the 9th. Anyway, my daughter still has to fit it before picking up. We went in a week before and nothing was done to the dress at all. Blamed it on covid, no employee, the dress had a lot of fabric, difficult, etc. We were promised to get the dress pressed when we picked up. The dress was pressed when we picked up on the 9th but the quality was not that great and no plastic bag was offered either. IMO, it's not a professional quality. I think Nordstrom alteration service will do a better and less expensive job. read more

I got my suit tailored here and loved it. The suit fit me very well and the work was very clean. Isaac was very nice and measured the suit to fit me and asked me how I wanted it in certain areas. It took 4 weeks (I gave him as much time as he needed since I wasn't in a rush) but was excited when he called me that it was ready. It does cost more than most other tailors but the cost is worth it, specially if you want to look amazing in a suit. I've came here a couple times for police uniforms to be altered and I am very pleased with the work that is done, and also very happy with the customer service. I just recently visited with an old hand-me down dress to see if he can turn it back to life. I walked in feeling a bit nervous because I waited last minute to get it done, but he assured me he was going to take care of it and he 100% kept his promise. I was looking for an alterations place because I needed to get a dress altered. The top was too large and the length was a tad too long. I found Sal's and am absolutely satisfied. He is professional, very reasonably priced, personable, and very willing to make sure you are completely satisfied with the work. The dress turned out beautifully and you cannot tell it was altered at all.
