This food is fantastic! We have been here twice since coming to the island. The first time, I had the chicken with the mushroom risotto (excellent choice), with red wine. My husband had the baby back ribs both times. The greens are delicious. The shrimp pasta is wonderful. The staff is all very friendly. The cocktails are great as well. We love dining in this little gem of a restaurant! Our permanent residence is Durham which is considered a foody town. We have been spoiled and tended to feel disappointed when dining out in OKI over 30 years. Then came Salt64 :). The second you open the door you will be greeted by a gorgeous smile--her name is Kaylee. The servers rock it and the two mangers Jess & Elizabeth make sure you are happy. All three very nice people and I had the opportunity to meet John the EC last time I was there. We have not been disappointed with anything we have ordered. The first time we went we were hooked and now find it difficult to accept the other restaurants in the area who are busy but not really that good. The building is old but they have rehabbed it and continue to do so in the last two off seasons. I heard this evening even more changes are in the works. The one thing I like about this rehab is that they left a bit of charm from the previous owner's restaurant. Its funky and fresh atmosphere is awesome! Thank you--I know from many years of experience this is a grueling business but everyone I have encountered is over the top with joy and kindness. The entire team rocks! read more

And since we were with another couple the 4 of us shared the "mile high " chocolate layer cake. If you haven't been, you must go. When we were done eating on our waiter he was telling all about the menu with a large party so long wait to get our check. So that would be the only down fault we have. Absolutely delicious food, exceptional service and nice atmosphere. Ordered the ribs dry rub with sauce on the side, very very good. Also tried the special which was filet medallion, duck and shrimp. That was excellent and the potato croquettes were outstanding. The corn was cut off the cob, but had to still be eaten as if on the cob which was a little odd but was still tasty. The burger is also a good choice and both the smashed potatoes and the potato cakes are delicious. Lastly, the bread pudding...wow... excellent!!! Overall, would definitely go back. read more

Down here on vacation and decided to try this place out. Unfortunately, the experience wasn't great. One of our cocktails had a hair in it. We alerted the staff and they were very apologetic and brought a new one out for us. We were surprised to see it on the bill though. Typically when something like that happens, almost every restaurant will remove it from the check. I ordered the tuna entree and shockingly, also had a hair in my sauce. Wasn't worth saying anything at that point, assumed it'd look suspicious and just wanted to finish enjoying the evening out. Food was just ok, been to much nicer restaurants for far less. read more

So where to start... My wife and I were very excited to try this place because of the changes made to the building, the hype it was receiving, and because we met a couple who were investors and told us it was going to be an quiet, intimate dining experience. I decided to make reservations for a Friday night for our anniversary for 8 pm. My wife pulled up the menu beforehand and she was sold on the Osso Buco, one of her favorites. We got there a little early, hostess was super nice and we sat at the bar to get a pre dinner drink. After about 15 minutes, we got seated in the main dining room. It was pretty bright inside, the table cloth was a plastic, wipeable table cloth that you put out for picnics, the candle was a fake flame light, not all that intimate or high end dining table setting. Waitress came over, super polite, very talkative, and interesting. She talked with us a bit, got our drink orders, then disappeared. We order an app and a bottle of wine and the bottle of wine came out after about 25 minutes. We talked to the table next to us and the waitress was like "this is what the owners want, people to interact and be family style" which is totally opposite from the 'quiet, intimate' experience we were told the restaurant was going for. We decided to order our food and my wife went to order the Osso Buco which we found out they ran out. Waitress told us we needed to come early because they always run out as it's a fan favorite (If it's a fan favorite, and Osso Buco is slow cooked, maybe they should make more, especially for a Friday night. Side note, friend of ours went the next evening, they were out then too, so go early if you want it.) The waitress left us so we can rethink what we wanted when the table next to us got their food. The one gent got an order of scallops over a large portion of potatoes, so she decided on that. I decided on the Shrimp Capellini. We got our food around 9:30 and they must have been running low on pasta for my capellini and low on potatoes because the mound turned into potatoes strategically placed around the plate with 7 scallops and a small bowl of angel hair for my dish. The food was good, but nothing to write home about. We closed out. Having both worked years in the service industry, talked to the waitress and she sat down and talked with us for another 10 minutes then left her # on the receipt for my wife as we seemed like a nice couple... We commended her for being a good waitress and left. Got home, still hungry, had to whip up a quick dish of Arribiata. So all in all, for an anniversary dinner, left disappointed, especially with all they hype. Obviously, they are going for a certain crowd across the intracoastal but for us, maybe we will go back to try again but probably not. The prices are not worth the 'fine' dining experience, especially since we've eaten at a Michelin Star rated restaurant in Positano for around the same price and left so full, we could barely walk. The service was good, from the bartender, hostess, and even waitress prior to leaving her # for my wife, so 3 stars for the polite, friendly staff, but for price and quality of the food and atmosphere, not a 5 star rated place.
