Salmon, tuna, chicken, collards and creamed spinach

We came to Salt 64 during a girls trip to Oak Island. Laura was our server and she was a total delight- happy and attentive. We started with the rockstar wedge salad and crack toast- both were delicious: For entrees, we got the salmon, chicken, and ahi tuna with creamed spinach, collard greens and truffles fries. Portions were huge! What really stood out: ahi tuna, chicken, risotto, and salmon. Truffle fries, collards and creamed spinach were somewhat unremarkable. The highlight for me was the key lime pie, which I got to go because I was stuffed. Espresso martini wins the award for best cocktail of the evening. Decor was classy and welcoming. I really liked the Himalayan salt candles on the tables... nice touch. Overall, a delightful experience!

The service was outstanding but I was not impressed by the food. We came here last year and were underwhelmed by the food. This time around we just had appetizers of an artichokes and the special of flash fried ribs in a Korean bbq sauce. The ribs were tough. I would not order them again. The drinks were well made.

Rounding up from 4.5 Pros- The food and drinks are always spot on. Eclectic and tasty! Cons- My drink was not super interesting. My husband enjoyed my paradise a lot more. The Malbec , however, was top notch! Some areas not as nice probably to sit in, but we really enjoyed our spot next to the wine room. Parking can be a challenge! Great that they're busy but not always easy to find a spot.

Stopped by again, this time on a Monday night and it was packed. Because of the additional dining area we got a table quickly. Our waitress, Tia, was with us quickly and brought waters. She returned shortly to take our bar and appetizer order. Tia also went over the evening specials. Our drinks came in good time with appetizer following soon after. We ordered Fried Green Tomatos and Cracked Toast to start. The Tomatos were well presented and came with cherry tomatoes, corn and a tarter sauce. The toast came smothered in cheese and heavy garlic. Everything taste good. Our main selections of Shrimp and Grits, Fried Flounder w/ Potato Cakes and Chicken and Waffles came out hot The three of us enjoyed our meals. Tia was very responsive and checked on us several times.

This was an exceptional evening from start to finish! The day was our 25th wedding anniversary and we were in Oak Island for a week to celebrate. We decided to reserve a table at Salt 64 well in advance to eat there on our actual anniversary. From the moment we walked into Salt 64, which looks rather unassuming from the street, we were awestruck by the beautiful ambiance, comfortable seating, and friendliness of each staff person. The hostess seated us promptly, our server was attentive, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. Our meal started with a delicious dirty martini for me and a craft beer for my husband. Because I am a freak for artichokes, I started with the grilled artichokes -- WHATTTT?? They were so yummy that I'm not sure I can order them anywhere else ever again. My husband chose a beet salad for his starter, which was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. We didn't talk much during our appetizers -- too busy enjoying this deliciousness. For our entrees, I chose the 8 oz filet, which was prepared exactly to my preference of medium-rare. The filet was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and plated beautifully with garlic mashed potatoes. My husband ordered the fish-of-the-day, which was flaky, light and flavorful. We both enjoyed every single bite and brought home what we couldn't finish. Not to detract from the appetizers and entrees, but the stars of the show were the carrot cake and key lime pie - two items our hostess and server warned us we should not miss! Oh, My, Gosh!!! These desserts were UNBELIEVABLE!! So beautiful, so delicious and fresh, we were blown away! We had a few bites of each, brought the rest back to our rental house, and did our best to share them with each other the following day. I only wish we had reserved more than one evening there! Don't miss this restaurant if you're in Oak Island.

We were luck to get a reservation on a busy summer week. Our table then got upgraded-extra bonus. From the minute we walked in, all staff were welcoming, courteous, and helpful. We had 3 appetizers for the table-crack toast, shrimp cocktail, and fried green tomatoes- all were delicious! Drinks were fast and tasty. Entrees came out really quickly. Chicken and waffles-delicious! Everyone had something different and everyone was very pleased! Manager came around and checked a couple of times. Agree with others that it's very loud inside and hard to have conversations at the table without yelling but it was certainly worth the trade off for us at least. read more

We had an amazing meal at Salt64! We celebrated a Sweet 16 birthday and the chef was very kind to prepare an appetizer that was not on the menu that evening. Had dinner for the first time here tonight. This is undoubtedly the best restaurant on the island. Everything about this establishment is top notch. We had reservations at 8pm and arrived about 730. The front door staff was very friendly and took us to the bar for cocktails and wine while we waited on our table. The bar service was excellent and very friendly. At about 750, the staff took us to our table. Our server was Madison and she was phenomenal beyond description. We started our meal with Caesar Salads and Crack toast. The dressing was perfect and the crack toast is beyond description. I had the red snapper and my wife had the fillet. Both wet cooked to perfection. We had crème brûlée for desert, also very well prepared. Not only was the food prepared well, the presentations were exceptional. Finally, the ambiance struck a nice balance between upscale and the beach vibe. BZ to the chef for the excellent moment and the excellent ambiance. Hostess Staff was extremely rude. We had a party of eight and no where on the website does it say you need a reservation!! We agreed to split up and was offered 2 separate rooms. Even though there were plenty of tables!! Never have I ever been spoken to like that. I do not recommend this place. Instead of being thankful we were going to spend a lot of money they were annoyed that we were there. She even called us tourists. I'm sorry but you live in a tourist town in the middle of tourist beach. And rely tourist income. We will never patronize your establishment and WILL NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE ELSE TOO!! read more

Finally had a chance to try Salt64 for dinner. It was great! It's a little noisy but otherwise terrific. Wonderful mix of seafood, steaks, and burgers on the menu. Salt Angel and Wedge Salads were super with the house made dressings. The shrimp and grits is terrific! Not the traditional low country style; more of a Cajun approach. Finished with bread pudding that was fantastic. Tons of left overs. The service was outstanding Ask for Ashley - she's lovely! read more

We made reservations for this restaurant and were seated within 10 minutes of the time we reserved. We were seated in the bar area, at a small table for 2. We were so close to the bar we may as well have been at the bar. It was extremely noisy and closed in. Very close to 2 other tables. We ordered the crack toast which was pretty good, I got the Parma grana crusted chicken, not the best, and my husband got shrimp n grits which he said he enjoyed. The food was not worth the price we paid. I have been coming to Oak Island all my life and was so excited about this restaurant! Not at all what I had expected. Awful experience. My wife and I ordered the crack toast and there was a piece of garlic the size of a quarter in one of the pieces, we then got our meals which I got the pan seared chicken over mushroom risotto and my wife got the shrimp and grits. I took two bits of my chicken and it had this foul and odd taste so I had my wife try it and she as well said the same. Her grits were like mush and the shrimp were over cooked which made them like eating rubber. Our server named David who was very professional throughout came over and we told him about our meal and that we would like not to make a scene but would like to only pay for our drinks and the crack toast and he said the GM has to make that call, so the GM came over and we politely explain Explained why and she was very rude to us and took our plates and came back with the check and just rudely set it on the table without making eye contact, I gave her my credit card she brought it back but again just put it on the table and left. BTW when we ate here last year it was a wonderful experience. read more

Visited for the first time this evening. The restaurant has a very nice vibe , very classy and elegant . We ordered the crack toast which was delicious . Hubby ordered ribs and I ordered the shrimp capellini. Everything was delicious and came out in a timely manner. They also had a very nice wine and cocktail menu. As good as the food was , what really stood out was the service . I have never had service this good on Oak Island. They originally brought out the wrong entree but quickly corrected it . The manager even personally brought it out to me to make sure everything was okay. Our waiter was very polite and attentive as well as other staff. Two women came over several times to check on us and other diners ( I assume they were managers ). It was a pleasure to dine somewhere you feel appreciated and taken care of. I have dined here several times and absolutely love this place! If you're a foodie, this will be your new addiction! I can't recommend any one dish because they are all fantastic ! The servers are very knowledgeable and willing to recommend their favorites as well as providing just the "right" amount of service. It can be a bit loud if you're in a large group, but that is to be expected anywhere. read more

Although the food at Salt was good, the atmosphere and noise level ruined our experience. The general manager as well as the owner/chef allowed a table of obnoxious patrons to "whoop", squeal, and demonstrate bar like behavior in a restaurant that purports to offer fine dining. The manager and owner were both made aware of the situation and there was no action taken to correct. This is unacceptable and members of our party won't return. In fact, after the lack of action and response of management, future reservations were cancelled. read more

Another great restaurant has appeared in Brunswick County. The transformation of Jones to Salt 64 is incredible. Great menu, interesting beverages, fresh food prepared with care, delivered by a great staff. Be prepared to make some challenging decisions from appetizers to specials to main courses to sides. We started with the fried shrimp appetizer, which had far too much breading and overwhelmed the shrimp itself. The hush puppies were crispy on the outside but undercooked and doughy in the center. My husband and I both ordered the OKI Surf & Turf. The crab cake was the standout of the meal--flavorful and well prepared--but the filet tasted more like a sirloin than a tender filet. My mother-in-law ordered the scallops, which arrived undercooked and had to be sent back. While the kitchen quickly corrected the issue, the scallops that came back had a weird texture. We also had a Caesar salad and a garden salad. Both were fresh enough, but neither was particularly memorable. The garden salad included Asiago cheese, which overpowered the other ingredients rather than complementing them. $3 extra for each salad-- not worth it. The atmosphere was beachy and casual with tons of young families. The bar had an older crowd but fun. I would suggest that the bar should have a frozen drink machine or blender for frozen drinks. Overall, the service was great and the staff worked hard to make our experience enjoyable, but the food was disappointing and not something we'd go out of our way to return for.

We ate here twice in the last few days. The first night we arrived and were promptly seated for our reservation, including our special request. Nick took care of us and was very personable and attentive without being overbearing. We shared the roasted beet salad with goat cheese and it was very good. I wish the beets had been cut a bit larger in order to enjoy them a bit more, but that's just a personal preference. As for the entrees, my wife had one of the best shrimp and grits I have ever tasted! The grits were creamy and the shrimp was slightly sweet and the sauce -craveable. Our second trip a couple of days later, we received the same faultless service this time from David. The grilled artichokes appetizer was wonderful, but the star of the night was the grouper special. Jerk "blackened", perfectly cooked and served on a bed of rice with pineapple and mango. The orange butter sauce was subtle and was a great counter to the jerk seasoning. My daughter and I were there for dinner, on June 3, 2023. We had prime rib and ribs, which we shared both because of the huge servings! Let me tell you that both were fabulous! Presentation was perfect, and taste phenomenal! And our waiter, Michael was so professional, knowledgeable of the menu and had such a great personality! We will be back!! From front door greeting to our server Chris (excellent) holding the door for us upon leaving, you couldn't ask for a better dining experience. Food was unique, flavorful, varied, generously portioned, and well presented. We started with Crack Toast (cheesy and rich) and had NY Strip steak (done to a perfect med/rare) and Shrimp Capellini (tons of shrimp w/ creamy spinach mushroom sauce). Although we have dined here many times, a friend of mine who recently just went to work for you all was let go. After hearing about a lot of inconsistencies and the way she was treated, we will not be giving salt 64 our business anymore. This former employee of yours is one of the kindest and hardest working people I have ever met. You missed out a good human being. We arrived without reservations. Were inot aware we needed them. They seated us at the bar and we had the Best experience. Chris, was the bartender and was not bothered that we did not drink alcohol. He has absolutely the best suggestions for an absolutely wonderful meal. I had the salmon with a crunchy horseradish crust sitting on a bed of unbelievable creamy, risotto.
