The Tacolate is my favorite thing on the planet. It's sweet, spicy, crunchy, creamy, and addictive. It comes from a collab with Taco Bell and they really nailed this down. The ice cream has some cinnamon in it and ancho. The shell is very crispy and stays that way until you take your last bite. There's also some jelly like sauces like the mango jalapeño's and wild berry cinnamon. And then it's dunked in dark chocolate and crunchy bits that are puffed quinoa. It's sounds crazy but it all works so well together. You have to try it. read more

My girl likes their weird flavors and I'm more traditional but most of the flavors they had when we visited were on the more unique side. Watched the NBA summer league games at General Admission, then stopped over at Salt & Straw for something sweet. My friend told me it was one of his favorite ice cream places. Just like most of the Uncommons businesses, very nice decor, modern, smart. Generally speaking I'm someone who really likes more simple flavors without a ton of stuff in it. Like I'm not a fan of Sorry not Sorry for that reason. So I was a little concerned I wouldn't find anything that suited me here because they do have some crazy sounding combos. Like give me a simple, fresh organic strawberry, or blackberry, banana or peach. But there it's Strawberry with balsamic and black pepper. Or flavors with goats milk or blue cheese. Yes that's right. After I tried a half a dozen flavors or so, I settled on Double Fold Vanilla LOL. I felt like I had already gotten my variety thru the samples and I needed to be grounded again. But honestly, I was intrigued what double, organic vanilla bean tasted like. At the last second our server mentioned how she liked to get Vanilla with one other flavor. I was so stuck on trying to figure out which flavor I wanted I didn't think about that. So I ended up getting the Coffee and Nuts flavor added. The vanilla actually had very little vanilla flavor to me, I made sure to taste it before the coffee and focused super hard. With a name like that I was expecting to get hit over the head with vanilla. I hadn't sampled it because after sampling like 6 already, I was getting self conscious and assumed it had to be good. It was still enjoyable but it was more like sweet cream to me, not so much vanilla. The coffee was one of the ones I tasted and I liked it. But to my surprise, once I had the bigger scoop, I discovered the big clusters of I guess are supposed to candied pecans (pistachios) I think she said? Whatever they were, they were really good and provided the crunch and contrast that I needed. Overall this is very high quality ice cream. It's a little more creative than I usually like for my flavors, but if you're into that, you'll really love this place. And with that said, I was still able to find a combination I could enjoy. Will try again next time I'm around the Uncommons and venture into other flavors. read more

Located in the UnCommons, Salt & Straw is one of my favorite ice cream spots. The flavors are unique, but for me it's the texture that sets it apart. It is velvety smooth and oh so creamy. This time, I sampled the huckleberry oat crisp with foraged porcini as I grew up in the PNW and love anything with huckleberries. It was good, but I didn't think I could enjoy a full scoop. Instead, I opted for the double scoop waffle cone with Salted Malted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons. They ask if you have a preference on which scoop is on the bottom and top, which is a nice touch. Unfortunately they do not have any indoor seating, so you have to either walk around and eat it or sit in the UnCommons outdoor area. The outdoor seating is nice, but challenging in the summer with the heat. Since it's in Vegas it would be nice if they had a few tables or even just a standing bar against the window for the summer. For me personally, a double scoop is a bit much as I felt a little sugared out by the end. read more

For example, the sea salt with caramel ribbons came with big chunky pieces of the caramel ribbons. I also like the smooth texture of the ice cream. The flavors I tried were the sea salt with caramel ribbons, salted malted chocolate chip cookie dough, and chocolate gooey brownie. When I walked in, I knew I wanted a milkshake, but after trying those three flavors, I couldn't decide what I wanted. The girl working behind the counter said I could include as much as 3 flavors with the milkshake, and that did not disappoint! I can't believe she was able to include the 3 flavors in a small size. At first I thought it was going to be too much and too sweet to have 3 different flavors for a small, but it surprisingly tasted awesome! I think what I really liked about the milkshake was the hint of saltiness that complements well with the sweet. Salt & Straw also has a freezer of ice cream that you can take with you for later. Salt & Straw is a chain that is known for its unique flavor combinations. Heads up, they do not split two flavors in a kids cup, and I was not told this until afterward. Two flavors will run you close to $10 for the smallest cup. I got to try a lot of flavors, and they were all pretty good. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. Food: I was able to sample the Strawberry Coconut Water Sherbet and Bananas Foster with Candied Pecans. They're both from their vegan menu. 5/5 stars ! Banana can be tasted throughout the cream base and the pecan bits give a nice sweet and salty crunch. The strawberry is clean, creamy, and a balanced sweet with the strawberries. I ended up purchasing a pint of the Bananas Foster to enjoy at home. Service: I will give it a 2/5 stars. We weren't initially greeted when we walked in and when we were ready to order, it seemed like we had to ask to be helped. It was strange because the two other customers had already been helped and were off to the side eating their ice cream when we walked in and the store was empty. The team member did eventually help us with the samples and directed us to the refrigerators to get our pints our ourselves. However, the service from start to finish felt very cold and that they were counting the minutes for us to be done and checked out. I was asked about a receipt and even as I was typing in my number, she had already printed it and handed me my bag to go. It was strange and I hope the customer service improves. The service is wonderful and the prices are reasonable for the quality of product. It's located in the Uncommons, which to me isn't my favorite place. It's like a fake urban area. Or like a very obvious sterile suburb that is cosplaying as a downtown urban area with its manufactured graffiti and concrete esthetic. I can see why some people like it there but it's not for me. I really hate going to the Uncommons because they've made parking so damn difficult (I mean, come on, don't make us PAY to come here if we stay over an hour), but I do make the annoying trek just for Salt & Straw ice cream. I love ice cream, and this is some of my favorite in the world, hands down. First off, it's expensive. Like crazily so. But I think the quality is well worth it! And splurge for that waffle cone, especially if you hit them up when they're making them fresh. It'll change your life. The flavors here change and rotate often, so you never know what you're going to find. This adds to the excitement for me, although I always seem to gravitate towards the same two flavors: Chocolate Gooey Brownie and Salted Malted Cookie Dough. Be sure to check out their "last chance" flavors as well as any specials of the month. They'll let you sample as much as you desire, which can totally get out of hand since everything sounds so appealing. No matter when you go, even in the dead of winter, there's going to be a line. It moves reasonably fast, so be patient. I promise it's worth the wait (and the cost). The ice cream is so rich and thick and creamy, and I have never had a flavor I didn't like. Even the more exotics like the blue cheese with pear or rosemary olive oil have their quirky appeal. I would say most folks opt for more mainstream flavors, but make sure you at least try one of the oddball offerings. The last time I was here, it was quite chilly outside, but we found a spot to sit outside next to a firepit. I loved eating ice cream next to a fireplace: sounds about right to any real ice cream lover, LOL. Part of the struggle and hassle of getting to Salt & Straw is its location. It's tucked away in the Uncommons, which makes it a real pain in the behind to find. Once you run the gauntlet and get there, your tummy and taste buds will be in frozen, creamy heaven! Just go. When you map to it, it's a little confusing since it's located on the inner part, not the outskirts. They are known to have very unique combination of flavors that work well together. I went with the two seasonal; Hong Kong milk tea, and Ube and I was pleasantly surprised. It was the perfect combination of creamy and flavorful without it being too overboard. The service was really great, and the scoop size was very generous. I would say that this is a step up from the typical ice cream scoop shop in terms of price and quality. In addition to single ice cream scoops, they have ice cream cakes for special occasions. Tristan helped us and he was AWESOME -- super patient, friendly, and explained all the flavors while letting us try as many as we wanted. I also loved that they give you reusable metal tasting spoons instead of tossing plastic ones -- such a thoughtful detail. The flavors are really unique, the vibe inside is cool, and they even sell merch. There isn't much indoor seating besides a standing counter, but there's plenty of seating options in the outdoor space in the courtyard. This is the Uncommons area. While there's no seating inside, theres plenty of seating outside with firepits and heat warmers (although debatable if they sometimes work). I've been to other locations throughout the US and this one surprisingly did not have much of a line. We were instantly greeted by the workers behind the counter. I always love their monthly flavors-so be sure to check those out. You can try as many samples as you like. I always end up getting the sea salt caramel with ribbons and honey lavender lol but all their flavors are so good. It's got a rich and creamy texture to it! I have been a fan of Salt & Straw since my first experience at the Abbot Kinney location in 2016, and over the years, I made a point of visiting scoop shops while traveling. Of course, I was thrilled when they announced their Las Vegas debut, and my first visit to the UnCommons location was just a week after they opened in June 2023. We have made more than twenty visits since its opening, usually to sample the characteristically unique flavors of their Monthly Menu Series, enjoy a scoop or two with their equally amazing freshly-made waffle cones or bowls, or pick up a few pints. Every month, I look forward to the new and returning flavors, diving enthusiastically into the story and details behind each concoction. I really appreciate the creativity! While stellar customer service is the standard at Salt & Straw, one team member in particular, Marissa, has been truly exceptional. She is an incredibly lovely person whose warmth, kindness, and professionalism has created a lasting impression. Earlier this year, on a particularly difficult day, my husband and I came in for a much-needed respite at our favorite ice cream shop, and we had the most wonderful experience with Marissa. That short, yet meaningful connection brightened our day immensely and really solidified our love of Salt & Straw. After that meeting, she promptly remembered and acknowledged us during our next visit, and every visit after that, and makes us feel so welcome. We're always excited to see her!
