This ice cream on wheels is anything but plain. Venila Creamery is a food trailer that serves a largely Asian-inspired menu of flavors. They've been heating up on Instagram and now Yelp, and I've personally heard great things about them. These days, I don't frequent the southwest part of town, which is where they usually post up. But this weekend, they came to TP Tea in Chinatown for a collaboration. Lo and behold, I had just wrapped up dinner a couple blocks away, so I had to stop by to try them out. And I'm very glad I did. They were very happy to give samples and to accommodate my slightly unexpected order. I got one of the collab flavors, Passionfruit Dreamsicle ($8.00), but I wanted to add a scoop of White Peach Oolong (+$3.00) which they gladly did. The passionfruit tasted amazing and melted easily in the mouth, although it had a texture that breaks rather than gives way smoothly when you try to scoop them with the rather thick wooden spoons. It did have a creamsicle / cream soda feel when eaten with the venilla ice cream it was blended with. And the White Peach Oolong is just very satisfying and reminds me oddly (but in a good way) of rum raisin at times. Plus, that sucker melted pretty quickly, so you know there can't be much if any presence of stabilizers. I ended up actually having most of the QQ noodles here (a TP tea add-on that's tapioca stretched into thin noodles), even though they were supposed to go with the passionfruit, but they worked well with both flavors since they just add a fun chewy aspect. Green Panda, Mee-Lo Swirl, and the other collab flavor Strawberry Milk Tea all tasted great too. I'm sure I'll be interested in a lot of their flavors in future visits, but my choices on this occasion really hit the spot. Venila Creamery is one of the best ice cream businesses in town, whether you have a bias toward Asian flavors or not. You have to check them out if you're looking for a cold, sweet dessert no matter what the weather is or what side of town you're coming from. read more

5/5 This is such a cute ice cream pop-up food truck that sets up at different spots every week (they usually post their schedule and flavors on IG). They specialize in Asian-inspired flavors and rotate in limited time drops, which makes it even more fun to try something new each time. When we pulled up (they were at Tractor Supply on Rainbow), there was a small group of 3 ahead of us. The wait was a little long, but nothing crazy--just keep in mind they have one person taking orders and one person scooping. Once it was our turn, the person taking our order was super sweet. She let us sample every flavor, which honestly made it so hard to choose because everything was that good. They don't rush you at all either, so you can really take your time deciding. I was stuck between the Ube Cheesecake and Leche Flan, and she recommended the leche flan since it was limited time flavor. I'm sooo glad I listened because it did NOT disappoint. Lowkey still thinking about it and regret not getting a pint since it's gone now oh and the Bananam Slam is also very good. The portions are also crazy worth it--a single scoop is basically a double. It's topped with a wafer (to me it tasted like a fortune cookie) If you ever get the chance to catch them, definitely go. This is officially one of my go-to spots now. read more

iirc i've been having venila since when they first opened. it's been a nice journey seeing how they've expanded since my first visit. the team is supremely sweet and thoughtful. top notch ice cream. my absolute favorite from day one has and will still be green panda! absolutely the most delish. just 2 scoops aren't enough. when i get the pints that are available now, it's hard to last even a week with them. it's just so addicting to keep going... one day i hope they create just a simple jasmine tea ice cream! already planning my next visit! read more

Very good ice cream! Asian inspired flavors and they're all pretty unique! I thought the bananam slam did indeed taste a lot like banana milk! It also tasted a lot like banana pudding and definitely was not laffy taffy tasting! The servers let you try any flavor and pack your ice cream up all nicely if you want it for later. I've gotten Venila Creamery 3 or 4 times now and it always hits. My favorite flavors (of their core flavors) has been lychee dream and the green panda. The lychee dream tastes so reminiscent of the lychee jelly cups I used to eat as a kid (iykyk). It's also a sorbet, so it's nice and light, especially for people who aren't big fans of heavier ice creams. The green panda has a super strong green thai tea flavor, which I love. You really can't go wrong with any of their flavors and I love trying all of their seasonal/limited edition flavors. I appreciate how deep the flavor always is, but somehow not too heavy or overly sweet. I really hope they can get a brick and mortar location at some point (I can't always make it before they close), but in the meantime, happy that they're usually in the Southwest region, so it's not too far a drive! Plus, they now sell pints and they provide nice insulated bags with ice packs to keep it cold until you get home. read more

Super cute woman owned ice cream truck! The flavors are unique and are Asian-inspired. The locations and hours vary, so it is best to look at their instagram page to see where they'll be located! The owners are very friendly and patient. They were always so nice when my family and I wanted to try the different flavors. My favorites are the ube cheese cake and the green panda. The green panda really impressed me though!! I was expecting a usual green thai tea flavor but you also can really taste the jasmine and hints of pandan! The ice cream is creamy and not overly sweet. Then each ice cream comes with a lil wafer. The scoops are decently big, so a double can be easily shared between two people. I'll be waiting for when they sell pints haha! We usually see them when they're at the Tractor Supply location on Rainbow and Blue Diamond, but if you follow their IG account they post the location schedule weekly. The team is so friendly and welcoming taking the time to offer samples, which is great because there are a lot of the creative flavors. My favorite is the peach oolong. I'm already a huge fan of the ice cream that they make. I was lucky enough to sample a couple of ice cream flavors from the owners before their pop-up. I am a huge supporter of small local businesses, especially if their ice cream or food is amazing. This weekend is the pop-up. There is about 10 flavors to choose from and you can get one scoop or two scoops one scoop for $8.00 scoops for $10. Right now I'm eating the bananam slam this one was perfect on a very warm evening. This is our new favorite ice cream business! Our favorite in Vegas AND compared to other Asian flavor ice cream shops in LA. We visited their trailer at a pop-up, and since there weren't others waiting in line, they were kind enough to let us sample nearly their whole selection. Literally every flavor was delicious. We walked away with three scoops when we only planned to get one! My favorites were the white peach oolong, the green panda (green Thai tea with Oreos), and the lychee creamsicle (the best creamsicle texture!). But honestly, you can't go wrong with any flavor here! Every flavor seriously pops. I especially appreciate that for the tea-focused flavors, since sometimes other places only have a light hint of the tea. Asian flavors! They have a cornucopia of flavors that are interesting and well done. Super hard to choose. Since it was hot I chose a yuzu sherbert and my gf got an ube cookie one. My dogs approved it too. The girls (San the owner) were nice and let me try all the flavors I wanted. I've been meaning to try this pop-up homemade creamery and today was the lucky day! I tried the Green Panda and the Mee-lo Swirl (Milo) ice cream, and both were amazing in totally different ways! The Green Panda is so unique--it's a green Thai tea ice cream with hints of jasmine, pandan, and vanilla. It's light, fragrant, and just the right amount of sweetness. The flavor balance is perfect--definitely one of the most refreshing green tea ice creams I've had. I could eat a quart by myself (seriously)! The Mee-lo Swirl (Milo) is comfort in a scoop. Inspired by the Milo drink, it's creamy and chocolatey with little mochi bits mixed in. It has that nostalgic, malty flavor but in ice cream form--so good! On top of the delicious ice cream, the owner is the sweetest person ever. She took the time to walk me through the flavors, gave genuine recommendations, and you can tell how much love and care goes into her creations. It feels like you're not just buying ice cream, but sharing in her passion for it. Bonus fun fact, she designed the ice cream truck too! They come to the SW LV area every Monday and serve some of the most unique and flavorful ice cream treats all while serving a smile! It's basically tradition at this point for us to come and indulge. I wasn't expecting such a gem to be sitting outside of a Tractor supply company! The ice cream was amazing and I think the price is reasonable compared to other ice cream vendors of similar quality! I ended up getting a double scoop of their Banana and Timtams flavor, and their Peach Oolong. Both were phenomenal and that's coming from someone who has worked in ice cream for years. The women behind the counter were terribly sweet and a pleasure to talk with, it's always nice to chat with people who can small talk well! The area around their trailer was maintained well, no napkins or spoons on the floor. They also had a cute little set up in the front. I will be making this a regular stop if I'm able. I ordered the Mango Sticky Rice flavor, and it was easily one of the most memorable desserts I've ever had. The combination of flavors and textures was on another level. You get that rich, creamy mango base with the natural sweetness of real fruit, and then those chewy mochi bits come in to give you that familiar sticky-rice texture from the classic Thai dessert. It's smooth, it's refreshing, and it's surprisingly complex for something as simple as a scoop of ice cream. This wasn't just dessert, this was a whole experience.
