Salt and straw is delicious! I love all the creative flavors (olive oil, pear and bleu cheese) and some family ones (cookie dough, ooey gooey brownie). They usually have seasonal things like pumpkin in the fall or peppermint in the winter. No matter the flavor the ice cream will come out rich and delicious. Every time I go there's usually a lime but it goes by fast. I encourage you to sample because they're all so good! They also have some pints to take home which I've done plenty of times. My favorites to take home are their brownie and cookie dough flavors. There's a bench outside of the store and a few tables to enjoy your ice cream. read more

The flight was the best option allowing us to try four flavors. (Wanted to reorder and no longer available on the website) The olive oil and lavender flavors were the best flavors of ice cream I've had ever. Would definitely go back for more of these two flavors. Salt & Straw is pure joy :D On more than one occasion, I've been so completely pulled into the depth of flavor, the texture, and the sheer happiness of that first bite that I've genuinely thought, "everyone deserves to taste this at least once." It's that kind of good lol!! My go-to favorites are the chocolate brownie and the snickerdoodle. The chocolate brownie is rich, deep, and gloriously indulgent. The snickerdoodle somehow tastes warm, nostalgic, and sophisticated all at once. Solid location with kind and quick service! There is minimal seating at salt and straw itself, but there is a bench directly outside and some public seating across the store. Honestly, what can I say... my absolute favorite ice cream chain. I love the creativity with the seasonal flavors, and the classic flavors are always completely spot on. Plus, the sweet aroma of waffles and sugar when you approach the store is my favorite part. I always use the app to order ahead on hot days, and the orders are always ready on time with all my favorite flavors in stock. If you go at night after 7 PM, there's typically no line at all. To top it off, the staff is super friendly and they never judge me when I ask to taste 3+ samples. There is no seating inside, but, the location has plenty of outdoor seating. This is a quick service type of establishment. Although they always have a line around the corner, they are efficient with service. Their flavors are unique and they are not stingy with their samples! I have visited a few and this location is the most efficient. The vibe inside is like an old school ice cream parlor! Love their unique flavors here! Always smells sooooo good too. If it was guaranteed that I wouldn't have negative blood test results and if money wasn't an issue, I'd be getting a scoop or 2 on waffle cone each day. They have seasonal flavors, and various collabs which makes Salt & Straw fun. I got their lucky charms marshmallow one once on a waffle cone, and loved how it wasn't overly sweet. It did melt faster than I'd like, but it was so good especially in a waffle cone. My daughter really likes their honey lavender flavor, which I think is there year round or most times aka not a seasonal/limited time flavor. I went again cause I heard about their collab with Taco Bell. Cinnamon-ancho ice cream gets packed into a hand-pressed, sog-resistant waffle cone taco, then dunked in dark chocolate and studded with crunchy puffed quinoa, with a couple sauces in packets - mango jalapeño and wild berry cinnamon. The taco ice cream was good, but I prefer regular ice cream in a waffle cone each the sauces were good as well, esp the mango jalapeño, though they overpower the ice cream a bit. I always look forward to see what new monthly flavors they have in store. They always have such creative flavors and are not afraid to delve into the savory realm. Service is always great and it's become almost like a tradition to stop by here at least once a month. The latest flavor I tried was the great candycopia which consists of homemade candy bar bites embedded in salted butterscotch ice cream. Definitely a winner! I'm not a huge fan of Salt & Straw, but I'm always intrigued with their monthly flavors so will often stop by whenever I can. Bishop Ranch is one of my favorite places to hang out since they have many shops and restaurants. There was a line when we arrived, but don't they all have lines? I always appreciate the friendly staff and cleanliness every time I'm here. I'm usually pretty indecisive when it comes to picking out a flavor, but this time I came here to specifically try The Tacolate. Apparently Salt & Straw did a collab with Taco Bell and came out with a ice cream taco. It was a Cinnamon-ancho ice cream packed in a dog-resistant waffle cone taco, and dunked in dark chocolate and topped with quinoa. I didn't like the ice cream at all since the flavor was too strong. I however did enjoy the waffle cone and surprised that it was crunchy given that it was pre-packaged. I think I would've preferred if they had a selection of flavors to choose from. They also included a pack of the mango jalapeño and another pack of the wild berry cinnamon sauce, which I thought was just ok and can go without them. A little disappointed to be honest given the taste, price and size of the ice cream. Hoping they can introduce more flavors in the future because I most likely won't pick this up again. read more

Located inside City Center Bishop Ranch on the north side- bishop drive side. We LOVE salt & straw ! I love how you could also check online to see when their seasonal flavors are. Seems like they are always busy even during the winter. You can skip the line if you are just purchasing the pint from the refrigerator. $12.95 per pint. It was a super hot day in San Ramon and we just finished an escape room adventure. So we needed to cool down with a treat. The place is clean and nice but (as always) has no indoor seating. The service was excellent, efficient and friendly. They gave us samples before (and after) our order. The ice cream itself is excellent. The line went fast for a Sunday and it was very busy with lots of customers! You can try a flavor if you're not sure and they have extra pints for sale in a freezer case by the register. the flavor I tried was hazelnut cookies and cream non-dairy and my husband tried the double fold vanilla. We got pints of it as well even though they're pretty pricey, I didn't mind so much because it's rare to find a flavor other than a fruit flavor in nondairy selections. The only slight interesting thing is the waffle cone was pretty thick although tasty I think I'm just more used to something a little lighter and crispy . Never one to turn down ice cream, I rallied my friends to join me at Salt & Straw after dinner at one of the nearby restaurants at City Center. Despite the shop being nearly empty on a Sunday evening (in the winter, I might add), the servers shepherded us quickly through the tasting and ordering queue. I sampled the seasonal cocoa nib frangipane and snickerdoodle flavors, and I loved both so much that I opted for a half scoop of each. Since the aroma of freshly-baked waffle cones filled the shop, it was a no-brainer to go all-out and order my ice cream in a cone. The ice cream was superb, although I wish the waffle cone had been a bit crispier. (perhaps it had been freshly baked?) The snickerdoodle ice cream paired especially well with the waffle cone, but the cocoa nib frangipane flavor was my favorite. I love how Salt & Straw constantly rotates and introduces new flavors, although I'm looking forward to the return of Blackberry Birthday Cake. read more

We visit this Salt & Straw location everytime we visit family. This location is in the City Center Bishop Ranch mall, parking can be difficult especially on a busy weekend, but honestly worth it everytime. We do not have a Salt & Straw in Reno, so we make it a point to visit everytime one is nearby! The line has always been out the door, but the staff is very good with quickly getting through the busy crowd. They are always incredibly friendly, we usually come in with 7 people and we are all eager to sample 2-3 flavors before deciding. I have never felt rushed to decide no matter how busy they are and I really appreciate this experience everytime. This time around I was still pretty full from dinner, but torn between 2 flavors. I learned about a "split scoop", which is half a scoop of 2 different flavors. I got half Wild-Foraged Berry Slab Pie and half Chocolate Gooey Brownie. I look forward to testing out new flavors on the monthly menu each time we visit, they are all so creative and delicious. If you haven't been to Salt & Straw yet, it's a must try. My friend and I came here last week as a nice dessert. Ice cream is actually my favorite dessert! The line wasn't that long so it went by quickly. The staff were very friendly. I tried two flavors, before picking vanilla - always safe. Haha. The coffee was a bit too sweet for me. The freckled mint chocolate chip was a bit too minty for me. Thus I just got a kid scoop of vanilla in a cup and it was delicious! There isn't any seating. More of a chill spot to pick up ice cream and go. I'm not sure how I haven't written a review for Salt and Straw yet! It's my favorite ice cream shop! When we used to go to Portland constantly for work, we were always going to Salt and Straw so I was really delighted when I found out we were getting one in the East Bay! I'm happy it's close by, but not too close so it still feels like a treat! They make really unique flavors like Olive Oil which is my favorite! Now that I have to eat dairy free due to my baby's allergy, I was delighted to find not one but SIX dairy free options! Plus, they let you sample any flavor you like! The best of the dairy free flavors was the Strawberry and Coconut Sherbet which is a permanent fixture on their menu. They have regular flavors and also each month, they offer a batch of limited edition flavors. Then, sometimes, if you're lucky like at the start of the month, you'll get some last chance flavors as well! There's usually a line here but it moves quickly. There's a bench outside the door, and also benches around the square and a giant, grassy, covered area if you want to picnic in the center of the plaza.
