Lovely little ice cream shop in a lovely town! Lottie's caught my attention with their bright red sign while I was walking around Danville after the July 4th celebration, so of course we had to stop for a little treat. It wasn't too busy during our visit, with a few people enjoying their ice cream on the patio. They have quite a few flavors to choose from, including some interesting ones like Honey Candied Kumquat. We asked a few questions and sampled some flavors before deciding, although I have to say the service was pretty mediocre--the staff didn't seem too enthusiastic or helpful. We ended up keeping it classic with the strawberry. I could definitely tell they use fresh, quality ingredients, but personally the flavor and texture just didn't stand out much to my taste buds. Overall, cute shop with some creative flavors and fresh ingredients, but my first experience was just okay. Maybe I'll have better luck with a different flavor next time! read more

An outstanding ice cream parlor. The flavors are unique to them, don't expect vanilla, strawberry or chocolate. More like vanilla infused rum custard, wild strawberry compote or chocolate two ways. The menu changes continually and they offer nondairy as well. Free sampling, of course, and a wide range of ice cream delivery systems - cups, cones, sandwiches, sundaes, etc. And pre-packaged to bring home as well. It IS pricey. The smallest cup is six or seven bucks and for two flavors you need the 2nd to smallest (which is a dollar higher). There's a couple of tables with chairs outside to relax in (and lots of nearby places) but inside it's just stand around room. If you love exceptional ice cream, you'll love this place. read more

We don't like the Lottie's Creamery Walnut Creek location, but since we were in town this weekend I wanted to try out the Danville locale. I walked in and ended up getting a single scoop of the Honey Lavender. The flavor was surprisingly quite good (similar to Bi-Rite's) and the service was prompt and helpful. This space was much larger and more comfortable than the Walnut Creek location and they had quite a bit of outside seating. All that being said, I was prepared to give them a full five stars until I found a hair towards the bottom of my ice cream. Yikes. So unfortunately that made a second cup of ice cream I've had to toss for Lotties. At the end of the day, this brand clearly does not work for us, so we wont be trying them again. read more

We were visiting downtown Danville from SJ and after a great lunch at Danville Brewery, we walked over to Lottie's for ice cream. My kid was so excited to get a treat but we were deeply disappointed at the unfriendly service. There were two grown adults, a female and male. There were zero customers when we walked in and the man didn't even greet us. When we asked if they did testers, he rudely said yes. We all felt like our presence was an inconvenience and this is not the vibe for an ice cream shop. It's a shame because their ice cream is pretty great, you can taste the small batch quality. First time visiting Danville and exploring all the fun within. Found this cute little place through yelp and tried out a few goodies. I also got to sample some of their ice cream flavors. The toasted almond was their best! Ended up getting their toasted marshmallow hot cocoa (they also had an affogato option), and it did not disappoint. So warm and cozy in a cup. I'm always curious about the different ways hot chocolate is made and I'm glad I got to try theirs. One of my favorite ice cream places. I have a lot of food allergies and it is very difficult to find a sweet treat place that I can eat at. All of their sorbets have been great but my favorite is their vegan dark chocolate. I am not a fan of coconut milk based ice cream but it does not have a coconut taste at all. We stopped by on Sunday evening around 7:30 PM, and the overall vibe was pretty disappointing. The staff behind the counter seemed unengaged and offered little to no service or enthusiasm. Since it had rained earlier, all the outdoor chairs were wet and collecting water -- understandable, but it would've been nice if someone had made an effort to wipe them down or at least mention it. The ice cream is good, no complaints. Location is good. But the staff are very unfriendly. No customer service skills. I've been there twice within the last week with my family. We walk in the girls in the front 2 to 3 girls just staring at us, no acknowledgment no greeting. No offering of trying a sample or any suggestions. They made all his feel very uncomfortable and made us feel like we were bothering them being in the store . We thought we would try again so we Went back for a second time since the ice cream is good, and a different set of girls and the same horrible customer service. And I've found my favorite flavor...Vanilla Salted Almond Toffee. It has the signature dense, gummy ice cream pull that I love in a good ice cream, with a perfectly sweet vanilla base + salted caramel swirl + bits of crunchy toffee + pieces of crunchy almond. Easy walk up service and outside seating. I love an old-school cone, but if you need it a cup will make it more manageable. My husband likes their ice cream sandwiches, which come in vanilla bean or chocolate. We used to make the trek to WC for this ice cream, but now we have one in town! Staff friendly, answered questions, and kindly provided samples. I tried the fresh mint chocolate chip and you really taste the essence of mint throughout . The honey-orange blossom has that sweet floral and fruity taste with a hint of orange. I left with (3) pre-packed pints of the lemon with marshmallow for a friend and claims it was super delicious. Also, purchased a pint of the Rocky Road which was an elevated version with swirls of caramel, brownie, almonds and marshmallow. I saw some other unique flavors like honey lavender and rose cardamom pistachio but wanted to sample before I committed to spending $13 on a pint. Next time I'll get a scoop in their waffle cones or bowls.
