Lemon and limited edition Mixed Berry ~ non dairy gelato
    K K.

I was checking out some nice food stops at the center after shopping and found Gio's! Really good and refreshing gelato, especially in the hot sun! The place was nice, they let me try samples of new flavors and I'm a sucker for fruity flavors so I settled on lemon & limited edition mixed berry gelato. Hit the spot, they had good food and products I'd definitely recommend checking them out this summer!

The gelato here is super fresh and delicious! The pear flavor and the raspberry flavor were amazing together! The service here is good and you get your order done pretty quickly! The style in here is definitely insta worthy to show off your gelato!

Dropped by for a quick dessert and this place looked inviting. Walked in and the friendly server suggested the hazelnut gelato. Also ordered an affogato with pistachio gelato. Both were tasty and full of flavor. Shop also had desserts in a self serve fridge on the side. This is a nice place to get your sweet fix.

First time trying their gelato and all the flavors I sampled were delicious! I went with the Sicilian pistachio and hazelnut. The only downside was the service - the server at the counter was a bit rude, which could definitely be improved.

I visited on a Sunday afternoon to pick up cake and also get some single scoops. ORDER Gelato Cake ($55)*- Pistachio and Almond 3 Gelato Single Scoops $8 x 3) - Cappuccino, Matcha and Mango *Gelato cakes are $45/kg STARS (stand out qualities) -Food (5/5 stars) - best pistachio and hazelnut gelato I've had; cappuccino, mango and matcha gelato were super delicious too; almond flavor didn't have as much flavor profile but that may be the nature of the nut -Service (4/5 stars) - Free samples; Was able to order cake about 1-2 weeks ahead via email ; staff were friendly and responsive -Ambiance (4/5 stars) - cute and clean interior, enough indoor seating (one table and two chairs) and outdoor seating (two tables and four chairs) STAIRS (areas of growth) -Price Menu and Transparency- I saw another gelato cake posted on Yelp that looked a little bigger size and cost $45 (https://yelp.to/R3Z03xW1N0 ). I'm not sure why the cake I ordered was $10 more and hope they have more detailed price menu and transparency for their cakes -Discounts - price sooo expensive so I recommend some discounts and promotions; otherwise, I don't plan to come back often -Loyalty program - I recommend offering offering stamp card (physical or digital) or something similar -Birthday gift - I recommend offering free gelato for birthdays; I subscribed to email but didn't any birthday offers -Online web page or menu for cakes - clarify size of cake in inches or cm (in addition to weight), number of flavors, pricing, customized writing if available and show pictures of examples -Birthday sign or chocolate topping for cakes TIPS -If you want to order a gelato cake, email to confirm availability and other details (they need to have it shipped from SF to San Ramon store) -if you plan to buy any cake or gelato pints to go, bring your own cooler with ice -Try different flavors! -Free parking available at mall including curbside parking that I think is 10 minutes

    Vegan Chocolate in small cup

We love a sweet treat! GIO Gelati delivers just that with a decent amount of flavors available and a shelf of preserved fruits / jams. Keep in mind that they have a rotating menu (green apple and yuzu) that steers away from their classic flavors (vanilla bean, tiramisu, cappucino, etc). There's also vegan options. I came in wanting their hazelnut gelato, but the worker kindly let me know that it changes 2x a week. It's relatively pricey with a kids cup (1 flavor) being $6.50. We opted for the small cup (2 flavor) and just got the vegan chocolate. The worker let us sample as many flavors as we wanted before we decided on one. Their chocolate gelato had a creamy and rich semi-sweet dark chocolate flavor. I would've loved if there was a wafer, but you can add certain toppings for $2 each. I would come back to check out what other unique flavors they have after knowing their menu changes frequently. Friendly service as well.

Such a cute space to have a small gelato place. There is no room to eat your treat inside but they do have a few seats right outside the door. There are a lot of flavors to try so I chose lemon crema and vanilla. It was so refreshing and delicious! Looking forward to trying new flavors.

It was an incredibly busy afternoon with a line out of the store and the employee had great service and moved the line well. The location is cute and easy to grab a quick snack! I loved all the flavors!

We're at the city center quite often and Gio Gelati is my new favorite gelato spot in San Ramon. We tried the hazelnut and vanilla bean flavor and both were so good. Dense enough with a decent pull and strong flavors. I thought the aftertaste was a bit sweet, but nothing to complain loudly about. I also sampled the mango gelato which was so good. Will be back!

Came here after eating in the mall for gelato. It's located near slanted door and there's some seatings outside. There's a variety of flavors with cup and cone options. The guy was helpful and fast. I got a small with cappuccino and chocolate orange. Both flavors are strong and very creamy. The chocolate orange has orange zests in it that makes it extra good with the chocolate flavor.

We kept saying we would try this gelato place out. But we always end up going to Salt & Straw. On this Friday date night, we decided to finally try Gio! We were served right away. We picked two scoops and were both vegan - mango and raspberry. We were not disappointed and finished the entire cup between both of us. The shop is small and very clean. Service was quick and our dessert was delicious! If you're looking for a local gelato place, visit Gio in San Ramon City Center!

It's solid gelato. Is it super super good? No, not really. I've had better Gelato and ice cream elsewhere, but it'll do when you have a strong hankering for cold, sweet ice cream. Do I expect it to match gelato I've had in Italy? No, but for the prices they charge, I feel it should be a bit better. As the kids would say, this was mid. They were generous with the scoop size and a mini cone came free with the order. Small cups get up to two flavors, and medium up to three. They had an assortment of flavors available, and I'm sure there would be something for everyone in your group. But could be better. Their marketing promises good stuff, "authentic Italian gelato tradition, to the freshest local California ingredients to create the healthiest, freshest, handmade gelato" but I've had better Gelato with much less marketing, like in Greece or the Philippines that just promised flavor.

We noticed tables of candies and a whole wall of candy that you can choose from each candy was labeled with different countries where the candies came from which I thought was pretty cool. The people asked us if we need any help to let them know. We did notice that the prices were pretty high. So for 1 pound of candy in the bag it was $25. However, the girls did pick out a couple pieces of candy for each and we spent about $4.50. This place is definitely cute and provides a lot of different types of candies, but it is kind of pricey. I would definitely still come back when I have the extra funds.

I recommend sharing a triple scoop because that's cheaper than buying 2 singles. I think gelato at this price is unheard of in the bay area, let alone in Blackhawk/Danville of all places. I guess the rent isn't too bad because the place is small, but it is nice and the service is really good too! Definitely will be back! I'm actually no longer as surprised at the stellar ratings. I mean 4.9 star average is still insane, but I'd expect nothing less than 4.5-4.7 to be honest. I like the pistachio, biscoff, cookies and cream, stracciatella, vanilla, and dubai chocolate flavors. The waffle cone is included in the price so make sure to specifically ask for it, I made the mistake of not specifying and it would be 50 cents on the side (probably due to sharing, the single scoop is $5.99 and the triple scoop is $7.99)
