Carnitas we're excellent and plenty of it. I was served chips after being seated but no salsa which I expected. One of those places you can just relax in after a long day of whatever. Soooooo. There are many reasons to go here. 1. for the excellent customer service (the severs remember what you order without writing it down and are wonderfully attentive and quick). 2. Was really let down by the reviews this place is not good. The only good thing about it was the service they were extremely nice and quick. The food itself was extremely greasy my burrito fell apart because there was so much grease. The rice was bland the chips were burnt and the salsa is super watery. On top of that there was many flies in the restaurant I had to cover my drink with a napkin to prevent flies from getting in. There was about 5-6 flies per person and one even managed to almost get into my brothers mouth while he was taking a bite. Overall I do not recommend This place unless you want to eat mediocre greasy food with a bunch of flies swarming you. read more

BETRAYED! So let down by every review on Yelp. If I could give negative stars, I would. This is by far the worst place I have ever attempted to eat at in my entire life. Flies everywhere - like hundreds at our corner table alone! Red flags - yes, there were many and yet it was fairly busy and because of the great reviews, we overlooked every single one of them and gave it a try. Chips had no salt and were cold, but edible. Salsa was watered down and as thin as water. The plates of food looked amazing when they arrived at our table, but the taste, oh my god, so bad that I don't think my dog would have eaten it. My husband spit his out and promptly ran outside because he couldn't even look at the plate or deal with the flies. The kids and I faired a little bit better and were able to stomach a few bites before quickly paying for inedible food and making a swift escape. So, here's what we tried in order of edibleness, chicken burrito (partially edible), steak enchiladas (not sure what that meat was!), the special (variety plate of disgustingness with a tostada chip that was the only edible thing on the plate) and the chicken enchiladas which looked to have boiled, bland chicken, a plethora of disgusting sauce, and made my husband sick to his stomach. I really didn't expect to love this place so much. It's attached to a gas station and like everything near Wendover, it looks just a bit run down. We decided to stop here on our way back to salt lake because it was the only place with decent reviews that wasn't in a casino. It proved to be a good choice with a super nice staff (all men though- not used to seeing that) and cheap prices. I chose the combo 2, a chile relleno with your house of enchilada. The chile relleno was good but there were a bit too many seeds left inside the chile to be accidental. Cheese enchilada was tasty and ooey gooey cheesy. The rice and beans were rice and beans. Don't let the soupy appearance of this dish scare you, just slurp it up and love it! This is a must stop for me if and when I ever go back to Wendover. read more

I might be breaking the trend here since I'm only giving three stars for this establishment. Don't get me wrong, this place is great for the middle of no where and definitely a great spot if you don't want to eat fast food or at the casino. When you walk in, the door is on your right...I made the mistake of going into the gas station first. The decor is interesting...lots of pictures of drivers, motorcyclists and a random plaque of the Utah Jazz, oh and every currency note you could imagine. It is kind of quirky and cool but also very random (at least for me). This restaurant is known for its Mexican - American food and you can tell it's a mom n' pop restaurant. We came here for breakfast at 9:15am and it still hadn't opened so we took our sweet rental car out for a spin. We came back around 9:45 and the place had opened. Note, they said they opened at 9 so I was a little disappointed they were not punctual. We orders coffees, chorizo burrito and chorizo and eggs. The food came out lightening speed and was on the authentic side. I may be biased because I went to school in AZ where the Mexican food is super authentic. This place was good but not mind blowing. The salsa was spicy and tasty, the chorizo was flavorful and the beans were a little undercooked. Overall, great service (once they opened) but could step up it's game in flavor. My husband and I stopped in for some food on our way back to CA and I was pleasantly surprised by the service. Didn't realize it was cash only so definitely be sure to have cash or there is an atm that will charge you $3. The food was alright. As a Mexican I have a standard that they just didn't meet. My carne Asada plate wasn't what I was hoping for. It was really burnt. The rice and beans were great for sure. They also added lots of onion maybe a little bit too much grilled onion. I've road-tripped from Colorado to the Bay Area numerous times, and usually just barely sustain myself at the usual fast food suspects. This time I was determined to get off the beaten path using Yelp as my guide. Half-day 1 was a bit of a fail when I had no cell phone signal through most of western Wyoming, so when I got to Salt Lake City for the night I planned ahead ... my next gas stop was going to be in the environs of Wendover, NV and would be a good time for a late breakfast. The Salt Flats Cafe looked like the most promising of my search results -- a cafe and a Sinclair gas station in one stop? Yeah, I'm all for efficiency when I'm on the road. This is pretty much your last stop before you're assaulted by the neon and cheesy glitz of the casino town after you cross the state line, and I have to say that I prefer the stark, desolate landscape you will find on the Utah side of the border. The cafe was full of Spanish-speaking families when I walked in, with what I'll call ranchero music (Spanish-language country) playing in the background. I was quickly invited to take a seat and offered a basket of tortilla chips, then perused the menu. I could have ordered pancakes or some standard American breakfast plate, but what was the point of that? I opted for scrambled eggs with chorizo, one of my favorite Mexican breakfasts. I was given a choice of hash browns or rice & beans -- again I was all-in for the more authentic rice & beans, and corn tortillas, please. Within minutes a huge plate came out. The chorizo seemed to be the cured variety, not the fresh that turns your eggs all spicy and orange, but was tasty nonetheless. The rice and beans were well-seasoned, too -- not spicy, but flavorful enough to be enjoyed by themselves or combined with the huevos in a tortilla. I thought I was pretty hungry, but barely finished half my plate. A great deal for about $6, and probably just as fast as the Golden Arches. I'd definitely stop in here again. read more
