Stopped on our way to Salt Lake City. Fast friendly service great choices tasty and large portions for extremely reasonable prices. Very authentic Mexican cuisine. Remember cash only and it has relocated in past few months so it is right off of I-80 at exit #1 not #4 as the Yelp highlights state. Driving from Denver, CO to Oakland, CA. We were too late to make it to the Basque restaurant in Elko we had hoped to try, and the reviews for this place intrigued us. I love car racing and thought I would be happy to spend any time at all close to the Bonneville Salt Flats, where the land speed record has been broken many times. I had no idea the interior of this restaurant would turn out to be a virtual museum / shrine to the many racers who have flown on the ground - the salt - nearby at 200, 300, 400, and on up to 1,000 mph. I was in heaven as soon as I walked in the door and saw the dozens of framed pictures on the walls. If you're into speed, this restaurant is a very beautiful place. Oh yeah, the food - it was great. Huge portions, very well cooked, and practically free. I had the Baja Chicken, a marinated boneless chicken breast that was very tender and flavorful, and my friend had the Chile Verde, also outstanding. Each were about five bucks, and came with copious amounts of rice, beans, and with my entree, two enchiladas of my choice. A couple of horchatas rounded out the meal perfectly. Even the service was great - I started discussing the racing with the waiter / manager / owner (not sure), and when he saw how much it meant to me to visit this special place, he gave me a free poster for the upcoming World Finals event, like the ones from years past that adorn the walls. Some of the best Mexican food that I have had outside of Los Angeles. The steak fajita is delish and the portions are monstrous. This is an absolute MUST for anyone traveling to the nearby salt flats. The owner is so kind, the food is absolutely delicious and super inexpensive, and the bathrooms are spotless. I looked at restaurant selection, and there was good reviews for SF Café and decided to try. It lives up to the reviews. Humble, but tasty and authentic. Great food and great prices too!! This place is huge with the locals and everyone I have talked to that has eaten there has really liked their food. Every once in a while in can get busy in there especially during Speed Week but other then that you shouldnt have to many problems getting a seat or sitting at the food bar. If your traveling from the Greater Salt Lake area you should give this place a try......you will enjoy it for sure. read more

Try this place!!! The menu offerings were above average for a taqueria. The most expensive item on the menu was $8.95. We had 3 tacos, rice and beans... more than we could eat, for $5.95. That would be 3-5$ cheaper than we would pay in California, for the same meal. The tacos were fabulous, as was the horchata! my family and i were in wendover for one night, we got into town at about 1 and needed somewhere to eat, we chose salt flats cafe cause it had good reviews and wow we were not disappointed, the food was very quick, cheap and so good. two of us got the enchiladas and two got the burritos we were all very happy with our food, they also bring chips and very good slightly spicy salsa with your drinks, and they also bring guacamole and sour cream with the burritos. we all loved this place so much we came back the next morning and got breakfast burritos, pancakes and huevos rancheros. it was so very good. 10/10 food and 10/10 service, the people are super nice and very welcoming. if you stop in wendover or pass through and need some food you should definitely stop here. read more

THEY MOVED. Not exit 4 anymore. Coming from the East, take exit 1. Turn left at the bottom of the ramp and go straight until you run into the restaurant. (Through the stop sign, over the RR tracks.) From the West, take exit 410. Turn Right at the bottom of the ramp. Turn left at the stop sign. Up the hill, past the Nugget. Turn right after subway and the shell station. Over the tracks and you are there. This place is the BEST place to eat in Wendover. Bring CASH and check your snobby California attitude at the door. Sit anywhere and they will find you. No glamour, no pretension, just awesome food and wonderful people. Busier than before but still beyond worth it. Wait patiently and thank yourself or leave and eat the gruel at one of the casinos...after waiting. I recommend the Chili Verde burrito or Chili Verde omelette with home made flour tortillas. If you are traveling through Utah/Nevada on the I 80, you must stop here to eat! It looks like a dive even a little messy inside. But it has the best food! Loved their carne asada meat nachos, taco's and salsa. This restaurant is in an old building- part of a gas station, but is the best Mexican food you will find anywhere outside of Mexico I've had. I'm from Texas and have been down to Mexico.
