I love all of the hairstylists here, they are super sweet and they will make you feel very comfortable! I had my hair done here twice. The first appointment was fine, it was done by a level 1 girl and I knew it would be a longer appointment just based on experience. The second time was insanely long and my hair got fried but I was planning to give a third time because I alway give places 3 tries. Well I just called (same day as my appointment) to reschedule because of personal reasons (they never asked and since it's personal I wasn't open to share unless asked) and they told me since it's within their cancellation window they will be charging me the full $185 amount for me to not get my hair done. This place wasn't even good let alone great in order to come back. Also, my hair was always well into the $300 and I do baby lights. I did toner once and $300+ for a level 1 is insane!! Owner said she couldn't do it because she scheduled a zoom meeting for herself exactly ten minutes after I arrived? I don't have an issue being rescheduled because I was late -I assumed as much - but if you can't cut my hair don't admit that you schedule a meeting literally during our appointment that you can't get out of- So rude and blaming. She gave me a snack while my hair processed - a whole charcuterie board. And then I got a hair mask and she gave me eye patches. And then my hair was done and it was BEAUTIFUL!!! I came in as a blonde and this is how they colored me 3 different times. I gave them 3 tries which was more than fair of me. Every time I said I want to be blond since Ive been blonde for over 25 years. Three strikes you're out. I paid 250 for this color and a 50 tip. Then I had to pay 200 to someone else to fix it. I literally cried over this. Heartbreaking when someone messes up your hair color. Update 3/10/23 so they owner called me today and has offered to make things right. Zero stars if I could. They get a "wow" for awful service. I had a Saturday appointment and woke up feeling ill. There is a horrible virus going around town currently, and I did not want to get the stylists sick. But I had read the salon's cancellation policy and knew it was strict. I called as soon as they opened and asked what they would prefer I do. I said I would be happy to come in wearing double masks. Or, if they preferred, I could come in another time - but I did not want to be charged a fee for something I could not control. The woman I spoke with on the phone said that she totally understood and did not want any sick clients in the salon. She said we could schedule me as soon as I was feeling better, and that I would not be charged a fee. She said she did need to charge me for the appointment, but it would cover the haircut when I was feeling better. I was better by Tuesday and called about six times throughout the day. No one ever picked up. I left a message. Same thing Wednesday. No callbacks. When I called Thursday morning and still got no answer, I went to the salon in person. They claimed their phones and wifi were down so they couldn't schedule me. A woman took my name and number down and promised to call later. That evening, they called and claimed this had been a "miscommunication" and I was a "no show" and there was nothing they could do. So no haircut, just charged for the price of one - because I asked the salon about their preference and honored it, trying to keep everyone healthy. I said that I would post negative reviews on all the social media platforms, and the woman rudely dismissed and hung up on me. Do not give your money to these people, and do not choose them as your salon unless you enjoy being treated with rudeness and disrespect. read more

I walked in for a consult on a whim after hearing great things about this salon and was immediately whisked back and met with Carley. I'd gotten a horrendous cut at a beauty school and had put it up for 4 months in a top knot and just forgot about it for a while until it grew and I could cut it again. She fixed my hair, but she also fixed my heart a little after offering a hug when she heard all the loss I'd been going through. She got me in the next day and I didn't know it at the time, but she stayed late to make that appointment... on a Friday! We closed the salon down and never once did she make me feel like I was keeping her or she needed to be elsewhere. Truly a wonderful human, a fabulous stylist and a gem of a salon. First of all, I don't normally complain about local businesses, but I believe that you should hear my story before you decide to give your money to this establishment. At least you will have been warned, I wish I would have been. I called for an appointment a few weeks ago and the lady who took my appointment was so unprofessional. I addressed her with my name and the service I wanted to book. I again gave her my name, spelling it out and the service I was looking for. I was asked 5 more times what was my name and what service again? The first three times, my husband was in the background laughing, the next two times, he was telling me to hang up! I finally told her that I was really getting irritated with her. (Do you not have pens and paper to write things down that you obviously didn't understand?) She finally gave me a date and time. Then she took my credit card number (no problem whatsoever with that) and said it was to hold my appointment. Ok, no problem. Unfortunately, I got very ill and knew that I wasn't able to get to my appointment, let alone, I didn't want to get anyone sick. So I called to reschedule and I was told that I would be charged for half of the $ that they would have charged me. I was beyond floored and disgusted. I was not told that when I made the appointment. All I heard was, I'm so sorry if you were never told that. Really? That's all you have to say? She said it's on the website. Oh really? I didn't go to the website. I was sick, for crying out loud!! I had no control over that. Keep my deposit if you must, but to punish me for something that I was not even aware of? I cannot believe that people do business in this manner. No professionalism, no understanding, empathy or compassion. Let alone, an "oh well ", sorry we didn't tell you that. Oops!" So after living here for a year I gathered up the courage to find a new salon to get my haircut. I learned of Salt Hair Lounge through a Facebook group page. The online booking was super easy and convenient. As I walked through the door I was immediately greeted by Carolanne, who just so happened to be the stylist my appointment was with. She was super sweet offering water, coffee and tea before walking back to finish the customer in her chair. The salon was very nicely kept and the set up was amazing. Honestly the cutest salon I've ever seen. Carolanne listened to how I was describing my desired cut, we looked at Pinterest pictures, she gave me a breakdown of what she was thinking would work best with what I wanted. Very knowledgeable. The shampoo part was so relaxing and she talked about the different products she was using. Carolanne made the me feel so comfortable and held great conversation the entire appointment. I truly enjoyed my appointment and the final look was perfect! Will definitely be coming back to see Carolanne and recommending Salt Hair Lounge to everyone I know. read more

This is a follow up review to my first one . I went back for owner to give me a hydrating treatment as she offered . There was never an apology for what happened to my hair . Owner kept telling me my hair must not be used to it or making excuses . I offered to show pictures and she said " well if you are telling the truth I should be able to see it now ". She did not want to see the pictures The solution provided was applying a little bit of treatment to the damaged area and straightening my hair . Not really solving anything or having any empathy. My roots were absolutely tragic and my color had gone brassy, but she was able to accomplish everything we discussed. From start to finish (which happened to be way after closing), Jenn was attentive, friendly, and SO efficient. Truly, her talent is unmatched and I can't recommend her enough. I also want to shout out Yvette! She was super helpful, kind, and made me feel so comfortable right away. Both of these stylists deserve high praise and if there's any promotion, raise, or bonus for employees in the salon's future, I'd be happy to nominate them with my whole heart. This was my first time at this salon and the space was very nice. I was pleasantly greeted by Delaney, my stylist. She suggested a style that sounded good. I was ok with some length taken off and she put her hand below my chin to indicate the length and I agreed. The problem is the cut was not the length indicated. It is shorter. In fact as we spoke about styles I said I didn't want a cut that accentuated my chin. I thought by saying this and by Delaney actually physically indicating the length that it was fool proof. Guess not. What more do I need to do? Was she not actually listening to me or did she forget that wet hair will shorten as it dries? Either answer is not good. Very disappointed. The back cut is nice but I would challenge anyone to tell me that the front style is less important than the back. read more

Went in for color correction and I was really impressed with this salon. Staff was kind, respectful about plan and pricing. Correcting too dark hair is tricky and I have had all kinds of experiences. This was the best one-by far. Staff was educated, kind, accommodating and always available: totally professional. We agreed on a moderate plan and I always felt that my needs were the basis of the approach-not the stylist's ego or her preferences. Rhea explained that several visits would be necessary for a full correction. That said, the color is beautiful-colors are evened out (Due to Covid, I hadn't had my hair colored since the first week in November.), grays are gone and my hair remains in great condition. I also got a great haircut. This is my second stylist since returning to Olympia last summer. I have zero plans to look for another. read more

Horrible! This place is a Great Clips in disguise at best. They will do a horrible job and up charge on everything. They will even charge you for services that were not even provided. When you call and talk to the owner who is so unprofessional. They will require you to come in for no reason. This is a newer salon with no business class and it shows. The employees all have worn out and just all around bad hair. How are you going to claim to do a good job when your own hair is a train wreck? They over book chairs. During my color there were 5 people who came in for brows and hair cuts. What should have took 3 hours turned into 5 hours. Just bad business. They are all about the money here and it shows. My hair was destroyed here. I was originally supposed to see Delaney but she had COVID. I was called personally by the salon owner who rescheduled me with her sister. I didn't realize when she told me her sister had 18 years experience that she was just visiting and isn't actively practicing hair. I went in to be brighter and left with my hair fried and breaking off in the front. I went back to allow her to fix it and ended up leaving with hair darker than my natural brown. While they did provide a 200.00 dollar refund, it doesn't even touch the amount it's going to take to repair my hair and gradually work back to blonde. I got the scalp facial due to some newfound postpartum dandruff, and to hopefully prevent or minimize postpartum hair loss. From what I can see, it seems to be helping so far! I had been going to the same stylist for many years and was a bit worried about the prospects of quickly finding someone new. Following a Yelp search of reviews, I determined Salt Hair Lounge was my best option. My appointment was made through their user-friendly online system and Carolanne was my assigned stylist; if preferred, just call for an appointment. When I arrived, the staff was warm and welcoming. Carolanne introduced herself, took my raincoat, and asked if I needed a coffee, tea or water before we began. Carolanne seated me at her station and carefully listened to my description of the desired haircut, she then followed-up with several questions to clarify her understanding of the proper cut. After a wonderful shampoo by Carolanne, we returned to her station to cut my hair. Well, the cut is absolutely perfect! I am very happy to have found a terrific salon and a knowledgeable and professional stylist on my first haircut. So, I booked again with the same hair dresser using the online booking app. I received a call 3 days before my Appt telling me that the hairdresser didn't have time to fit me in. An overdue review for Salt and Cassie! I started coming here shortly after my birthday for balayage and a haircut. I had gotten balayage years ago in Seattle and it just wasn't happening for me then. I was pretty nervous about the whole experience especially because for many years I was a low maintenance hair gal (still am I guess but *nicer*) in that I'd trim my own hair and never color it. So when I was picking a salon in Olympia, I was VERY careful to choose a salon and a stylist that fit me and my goals. Salt kept coming up over and over during my search so when I started looking into it, Cassie seemed like my best fit. I wanted lived in, relaxed hair color and styling. After the first time I sat in her chair, Cassie was just amazing. I'm not very confident with what I want but she just gets it. I really appreciated her feedback on what can look good, what will work, what won't, and explaining the process. Trust Cassie, she knows what she's doing. Suffice to say, I'm booked for future sessions. As for the other stylists at the salon, I did glance at their work and only saw beautiful hair walking out the door. Honestly, the first time I came here I was really impressed ; I loved my stylist, the vibe of the salon, and my haircut. I quickly made a second appointment. However, when I arrived for the second appointment I was greeted by another stylist who would be working on my hair. I was never told either before my appointment or when I checked in that another stylist would be cutting/styling my hair. To top it off, the stylist didn't say one word to me and I pretty much received a hair cut which I'm trying desperately to grow out. Because of this switch, I won't be coming back.
