My wife was looking for a new hair stylist. She started having Sun Bowen (pronounced "Soon") cut and color her hair. Stunning results!! Sun has tons of experience, having owned her own shop in the Puyallup/Sumner area for over 10+ years. She recently moved to the Oly area with her husband. Both are avid golfers. On the basis of my wife's wonderful cuts, I started to have Sun cut my hair. While this is no "Grand Torino" type men's shop by any means, Sun more than makes up for the lack of manly ambience with great cuts. Well After 6 months of Covid Quarantine my hair needed a good haircut. I just moved to the area and thought I would give this place a shot. Unfortunately I will not be back. My haircut was not even close to what I wanted, mind you I had a significant amount of hair cut. From shoulder length hair to Short edgy Pixie Style. Gary is an artist with hair! I had been a previous customer about 20 years ago and was out of the area for awhile. Found myself closer to the Westside of Olympia and was in need of hair care emergency. My previous stylist was just doing an adequate job. Gary was able to relayer my hair and still leave length. I was asked to write this review based on my friends experience here. She knows I love yelp and wanted to give the salon and her stylist kudos so here goes.. Memorial day my friend was looking for a good salon to get her hair cut and she always had this place in mind. When she went in there Kevin was the first stylist to greet her, she told him she wanted her hair cut a bit shorter into a faux hawk style. My friend has really curly thick hair and was surprised by how eager and excited he was to do it, but then informed her he was off that day and would love to cut her hair next week. He recommended some other near by stylist and when she went to see them she was less than thrilled by there reactions toward her curly hair and there inability to understand what she was asking for, so she made and appointment with Kevin later in the week like he advised. When she went in to see Kevin she loved how nice the salon was set up and how energetic, fun and sociable Kevin was toward her. Kevin kept her entertained and engaged in good conversation the whole time he was doing her hair. She came home ecstatic about her hair and everywhere we go she gets dozens of compliments on his work. Definitely recommend, she says she will be coming back in the near future for not just a good hair cut, but fun company! read more

Her focus is on her customer-ensuring she knows the latest styles, techniques and services (and she has been a stylist for well over 20 years). Was able to make a same day appt and had a wonderful experience! It's rare that I walk into a salon the same day I decide I need a cut and am treated well AND am happy with the results. KATIE is very sweet, listened to my want list, made suggestions but was not overly pushy. She was easy to talk to, cut and styled my hair quickly and efficiently, gave tips on the best way to style it myself. I was able to take my 4 yo daughter with me and they not only accommodated, but they were great with her. Free Wi-Fi helped. Great products available for purchase, but not pushy about it. Great price for my haircut ($45). And I love what she did with it! I can't think of one thing I would have wanted better. Will definitely be back. read more

I went to Allyn Brown earlier this year to get my hair done for a photo shoot last minute. She was able to squeeze me in, and did incredible work! Since then, she's cut, dyed and glossed my hair. She always had great recommendations and has been able to flawlessly create looks that I've coveted for years. I wouldn't go anywhere else! Reasonable prices and great people. read more

I tried this salon on recommendation from a friends friend and it was the worst hair color ever. I specifically asked for a warm brown and got pitch matte black. It looked like I bought a $5 box of color and did it myself. Terrible! read more

I've been going to Stageworks on and off for awhile and will never return. I made an appointment for a trim, and went in later in the afternoon for my haircut. After cutting 5 inches off my hair (when I just wanted a trim), the woman said she was not actually employed by the salon, but occasionally comes in to cut hair there. She then proceeded to charge me $70 for a trim, almost twice the price that Stageworks charges for a haircut. I would not have been as upset about this if I knew that she was an independent hairstylist and would charge that much, but when I called to make the appointment, no one informed me that she would charge double the price. I was not satisfied with my haircut, so I called the salon and left a message explaining the situation, hoping someone could help, and the woman called back only to tell me that she would not be able to fit me in until the next week. Very disappointed in what I thought was a trustworthy salon. read more
