Where do I begin from the moment Niecy met me at the door and the high end feel to a salon. (I love the chandelier in the shampoo area). Very private stations and the feeling of professionalism yet Warm and inviting. I had damaged hair and color issues that honestly Had made me feel the past 6 months very unattractive...Niecy made that all change for me as she spent time listening to me and hearing ME!!! Mel styled my hair last Friday. This was my first visit to Yunique. First impression: this is the cleanest hair salon I have ever been in. There isn't any dust or hair, no paper or messiness anywhere. Sink areas were neat and clean as well. The bathroom was also neat and clean with cloth to dry your hands. Another big plus, there was no loud music playing. The atmosphere was relaxing without putting you to sleep. Mel styled my hair just like I asked. She was very nice and allowed me to be in charge of what I wanted. Many stylists want to tell you what you want. Plus, she gave the most relaxing scalp massage I have ever had. Their clients looked great! The lobby area had a large display of numerous products (Pureology, Kevin Murphy, Loma, etc) that they use and sell -- every brand I could ever want. This salon is by appointment only, which is great....I've had my hair done by Soon Lee twice and both times I was extremely satisfied with the color, cut, and style. It has taken a little over a year and several salons in the Olympia area to finally find a stylist that is consistent, listens to what her clients want, and makes recommendations based upon her experience and expertise. My initial appointment with Soon Lee was a consultation in which she looked at my current hair condition and asked what I wanted done, she gave suggestions and scheduled me a few days later for an appointment . My concern was the fast growth of gray hair at my temples. Soon Lee addressed that issue by giving me lighter color highlights. I was so impressed I scheduled my second appointment 6 weeks out. Normally by the 4th week my gray here is obvious and I can't wait to get my hair colored, but by the time the 6th week came about the gray wasn't so noticeable. It was there but it blended in with the highlights. At my second appointment Soon Lee was consistent with caring for my hair. The added bonus to Soon Lee's expertise with hair is her welcoming, open, friendly personality. This place is a hidden gem. It's by appointment only so I'm not even sure how busy her schedule is or if people in Olympia already know how great this salon is...but I decided to give this review for those looking for a go to salon/stylist. read more

Ladies and gentleman.. I don't care how you get here... Car, bus, train or plane, but you need to get here. My hair was a disaster. 52 shades of crazy and 13 different lengths. I was a hot mess. I took a chance (because Lord knows I was about to give up on my hair's life!) and decided to see if anything was available over the weekend for a cut. I was quite shocked and extremely grateful to find out that Soon had already gone home for the night, but she must have heard the desperation in my voice, because she came back! This woman is everything!!! She examined my hair, asked questions, tried to figure out what happened, gave suggestions and she came up with a plan. Went to this salon with confidence since all the reviews are great. But when I got my haircut here, I got a haircut that is different from the style i showed to the lady. I showed the hairstylist a picture of what I wanted, layered haircut where the front side is shorter than the back side. But what I got is a haircut where the back side is shorter than the front and BARELY has layer on it. Never coming back, I just gave three stars for the lady's effort washing and drying my very long hair before getting the haircut that is FAR from what I showed her that I wanted. I love confident, competent hairstylists. Soon Lee was fabulous at giving her professional opinion on what hairstyle would go with my face shape. I had something in mind (showed her a few pics) and she worked with what I wanted and what she knew would work with my face. She worked on my hair for nearly 2 hours because I had such thick Asian hair. In the process, learned she studied hair in Europe. No wonder she isn't cheap, but she was way better than what I got from my previous haircut at a 5 star hair salon in Olympia (hair stylist who didn't cut my hair evenly in the back! Sigh). IDO NOT GO HERE!!! Completely unprofessional. I made an appointment (with the OWNER!) and worked my entire work week around so i could take off early and be at the appt on time. When i walked in i was not greeted for at least 10 minutes and when i finally was i was rudely told that the hairstylist I was going to see hadnt been in all day. Instead of trying to accomidate me after i explained that this is the ONLY time i can come in during their business hours i was sent away. How incredibly rude. I would have appreciated a call, an apology, a new hairstylist, ANYTHING. Especially considering my appt was at 5pm...they had the entire day to notice the error and give me a heads up. Instead i went to 360 SALON right next door. They were very friendly and told me to come back in 30 minutes and they would get me in. read more

Soon Lee took her time to consult with me and figure out the best approach on how to save my hair and repair it. Consultation was a thorough process and Stephanie took on the challenge. First of, I like to address that I have never had such attention to detail just for me and my hair! I was the only appointment from 1200 until finished 1900...7pm . There were no disturbances, calm environment and absolute dedication for perfection. I really appreciate that special attention!
