***My review is based off a UberEats delivery ***…read more Although I haven't visited this location, now that I had there amazing food, I will make it my business to pay them a visit. Let's start with my order, the food was delivered promptly, fresh out the oven, piping hot (you can see the smoke coming off the food in my video) My food was cooked perfectly with healthy servings and my order was correct ( they only thing I would say is that I had 2 meals and only received 1 fork/spoon) As for the food, maddddd flavorful! My turkey wing, meat was falling off the bone! Max and cheese so creamy and smooth, cabbage was tender and juicy and I even got rice and gravy (which was a surprise). The pork chops cooked nice and tender. Cornbread was good! I am in soul food heaven rite now! Thank u southern blues for the amazing meal to end my great night.

The flavor is there but the seafood is not. The string beans and sweet potatoes taste straight from a can. No condiments provided for the fried fish and chicken and the servers could not tell the difference between a breast or thigh. The baked and fried chicken was dry and extremely large except for the wings. I was really hoping to have a better experience as this was through catering but my review remains the same. It's definitely giving the southern blues alright.

My boyfriend, however, loves it so he was stoked when Mom's Korean BBQ was closed and we ended up at Hip-Hop instead. While I have eaten their food at least a half-dozen times, I had never actually been inside a Hip-Hop. We usually frequent the Dundalk location, but were on our way to Costco and looking for something to expose my mother to - as she's only just now starting to be adventurous with food. I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the restaurant, especially considering they fry EVERYTHING. The air conditioning was severely lacking, though, and while the food was good, we couldn't fully enjoy it due to the temp of the restaurant. You know how you don't wanna eat when you're overheated? We ordered all this food and then struggled to eat it because we were just too warm. I had the fried eggplant for the first time ever in my Hip-Hop history. The Dundalk location never has it and what a shame because it's delicious. Though, Hip-Hop is really lacking in the choices of dipping sauces. Eggplant does not want ketchup or hot sauce. Eggplant wants marinara or horseradish mayo. Still, I'd get it again, and look forward to having my leftovers tomorrow. Fried mushrooms also beg for a proper dipping sauces, so they came home, too. I tasted one and was impressed but neither the boyfriend nor my mom like mushrooms, so they stayed in the bag. You MUST get the hush puppies. MUST. They are perfect, with or without ketchup. Get a double order. My mom got tilapia and fries and could not get over how large her fish fillets were. The coleslaw is awesome here and I understand why they sell large containers of it. The boyfriend got whiting. He always gets whiting. He can smash like 10 pieces of it all on his own. It's like one of his comfort foods, but he also says that Hip-Hop could deep fry a pig's butthole, put that seasoning on it, and he'd still eat it. Yet he refuses to try their chicken gizzards. Not that we had them this time, but I have eaten them from the Dundalk location and they remind me of chewy calamari, but chicken flavored. Not hateful. I'd eat them again. All in all, a satisfying meal.

I'm not sure I even know where to start. Me and my best friend rolled up (without reservations -…read moreoops) but were greeted and seated almost immediately. The area near the front window almost feels like a private table. It was definitely giving a great vibe. We checked the menu prior to picking this place and they had EXACTLY what I wanted. I had a big ole brunch of their Grand Marnier Strawberry French Toast which was a three stack of THICCCCC cut Texas bread. It was better than I hoped for! And I brought at least half of it home, because ole greedy butt over here also got the platter with the home fries (I asked for onions and got this caramelized onion topping that was almost a jam. Yummm), the bacon and the eggs your way (scrambled with cheese). My companion had this big ole omelette with a lot of veggies and shared my french toast. The sauce they served with the home fries was sooooo good - it was almost like Heinz 57 sauce but with less of a vinegary bite. The jam that came for my English Muffin was delicious and praise GOD they served butter that wasn't ice cold and unspreadable so yeah hella points for that. For the mimosas, we did the "buy the carafe and the bottle", with a carafe of cranberry juice and a bottle of Cava Prosecco. I loved that we were able to select WHICH bubbles we wanted and for two people it worked out very well price wise. The host (tall guy with a mohawk) and our server (Robyn) were absolutely fantastic. Personable and friendly and very attentive, very much able to answer any questions we had (THANK YOU ROBYN!!!). In short - this place is a gem and yall should go! Be mindful of the parking in the area, but dont let that stop you from a delicious meal in a lovely setting!!

I love its vibe - casual, homey, a little eclectic. The service was also very good. I had a Bloody Mary and their Hangover Hash (fried chicken livers, two eggs sunny side up, home fries, pork sausage gravy, really hot sauce). The Bloody Mary was classic, and I enjoyed it. My meal on the other hand was so-so. The gravy had good flavor, and I thought the home fries were well cooked as well. But the chicken livers were way overcooked for me (they had that chalky texture they get when they're overcooked), which always makes me sad (chicken livers are one of those things that are great when cooked properly but pretty awful when cooked poorly). Just based on the cook on the chicken livers, I would not order the dish again, but I also didn't get the hot sauce at all, and the dish really could have used some acid/brightness since it's a heavy dish. Everyone else enjoyed their meal. I ordered something a bit riskier, and it didn't pay off, but the other dishes seemed hits with my husband and friends. I did enjoy that their menu has some less common brunch items on it! It's not just the same dishes you can get on every brunch menu in the city: duck benedict, shrimp and grits, scrapple benedict, pickle brined fried chicken sandwich... Overall, it's a brunch spot with some traditional, homey charm and a more interesting menu than the average brunch spot. I'd definitely be willing to return and try something else if I'm in the area.

My fiancé and I have supported this local spot for years. It used to be a reliable go-to. But over time, something shifted--and now I know exactly what it is: the cook, Laura. On 11/28, I ordered steak and eggs. What I was served was not just unappetizing--it was dangerous. The steak smelled rancid, oozed a grayish liquid, and had visible discoloration. We flagged it immediately. Today, we returned to follow up and were horrified to learn that Laura had been explicitly told not to use those steaks because they were spoiled--and she served them anyway. Let that sink in. Why wasn't the meat discarded? Why did she knowingly serve it? Is she untrained, negligent, or something worse? And more importantly--why is she still employed? This isn't an isolated incident. Months ago, I stopped in for a quick lunch and became violently ill within the hour. I had to pull over to vomit and missed an important business meeting. I suspected something was off then, and from that point on, I would call ahead to make sure Laura wasn't cooking. Recently, I gave her the benefit of the doubt. That was a mistake. There's a level of disregard here that feels personal. When I asked to speak with her after learning about the spoiled meat, the staff refused and smirked like it was a joke. It's not. This could have led to hospitalization--or worse. This is a public health issue. Laura's actions were reckless, and the restaurant's failure to act is inexcusable. I'm mortified, furious, and deeply disappointed. Willy's was once a place I proudly supported. Now, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Until there's accountability, I won't be back--and I urge others to think twice before risking their health here.
