I got there and waited until almost an hour past my original appointment time before deciding to cut my losses and leave. It wasn't until after 7 that she texted me again saying sorry. If you knew you were running over an hour behind on a weekday, I would have appreciated just having my appointment rescheduled rather than to waste an hour and a half of my time. read more

Just had my first session with Cirrus and let me tell you, I am hooked. I have never before received so many compliments about my hair or appearance. (You know the hair is good when people say "there's something about you today, you just look amazing" and don't specifically call out your hair. "Did you color your hair?" is never the comment you want!). And I am just in LOVE with the new dimension in color, plus the cut really lightened up the look of my hair without actually thinning it out. Amazing layers! Cirrus has a different process than most colorists. I like that she doesn't use heat to process color. Let's face it, highlights are not great for your hair, so the less damage sustained the better. It may take longer but she is such a delight to chat with that the time flew by. To address one naysayer's comments - yes, it is (or seems) more expensive AND takes more time than other salons BUT the total for 12 months is the same as if you go somewhere less expensive more frequently. Going every 5 to 6 months is a better schedule for me. I'd rather do 5 hours twice a year (10 hours total), than 3.4 - 4 hours four times a year (14 - 16 hours total). No way to contact them. Phone does not work and no one responds to emails. The square app also didn't allow me to cancel. Strict cancellation policies. They still charged me $120 for a "no show". Be aware. $120 for hair not trimmed. :) Should I have left my kid at school sick or brought them to the appointment?? I am so damn THRILLED that I found Megan when I moved back to the City. This lady seriously saved my head! I made an appointment online to get highlights and a little bit later Megan called me so that we could talk about what direction I was hoping to go with my hair and to ask what my locks currently looked like. I told her that I had some Basic Bitch highlights happening and I was hoping to go a more exciting route, maybe some reddish. She said it sounded great and I was really happy that she took that extra time for the consult. Totally made me feel like she was showing up to our meeting ready to get shit done! When I got to the salon, Megan offered me a drink and then directed me to her chair. After actually looking at me, she said that redoing the placement of my highlights in addition to recoloring them would make the grow-out much smoother. My stylist is lovely and worked hard to highlight my hair. It wasn't what I wanted, but she did offer to fix it! I decided I wanted to go to the salon I usually go to. It wasn't even close to what I wanted; I asked for a refund. My stylist had the Owner call me. This review isn't about my stylist. It doesn't even do to with my hair... The real issue is the owner, Cirrus. She was very rude right after hello. She started blaming me, talking over me and didn't even give me a chance to speak before this began. She would say I was talking over her, as she wouldn't even provide me with the opportunity to speak. She kept trying to gaslight me with false accusations of me being rude or yelling at her while telling me she's an "empath and the nicest person in the world."She went through the whole conversation trying to educate me why I was wrong, implied if I couldn't afford more sessions, I shouldn't complain, asked me why did I come there, threatened to hang up on me, and yelled almost the whole time. She said, "I don't know why I am having this conversation with you; you are a stranger!" let me ask if you would go back to a salon with an owner like this? I was almost in tears on the phone; I did end up hanging up. I am your customer and client. I have never received customer service with such narcissistic behavior. I am sure she will write an equally lengthy response to this, as she has the rest of her bad reviews. You are welcome to look at past reviews as evidence of the type of care she gives to her clients. I saw Cirrus for around 2 years in her Walnut Creek location. Cirrus does fantastic hair, there is no doubt about that. Her prices are really high, which didn't bother me at first. Each appointment was the same around 5-6 hours (not one big session, then a small session, then a big session) because I was told my hair took a long time to process. You pay by the hour, so I was looking at ~$700 for each appointment (pre tip). There came a point where I didn't want to spend $700 every 3 months to get my hair done, so I politely ended the relationship with her over text. No problems. Until, a few months later I went to find her on Instagram (to actually recommend her to someone who lives close by) to find she has BLOCKED me?? The irony. Unprofessional, and weird? Why block me lol. I now go to a different place, my hair is just as fantastic and I pay much less and sit in the chair for half the amount of time. So much for 'slow processing hair', my new hairdresser actually made a comment unprovoked that my hair processed fast. Interesting that. In short, she's an expensive skilled colorist, but there are other skilled colorists out there that won't gaslight you or take you for a ride. read more

I am going to preface this by saying that I am a very picky blonde. I like my hair to be as bright as can be, and I often say "why fuss with fools when you can just massage my scalp with bleach" Cirrus has totally reimagined my hair and is a true artist. She places the bleach in all of the right places and has even added root smudge to my hair (aka, brunette hair coloring....which, if you know me, goes against my truest of blonde ambitions...!!!) but the root smudge has miraculously made the blonde pop that much more!!! Obsessed is an understatement. Honestly, I am so thankful for Cirrus. My hair has never been blonder AND healthier! She is so knowledgeable, listens to your hair goals and is a true professional (always on time, never cancels). I just got my hair done by Jenn. I wanted to keep my hair long, but confessed that I was only cutting it once a year. I know, I know. She recommended that I cut my hair more often to make sure it's growing out healthy. After she looked at it and treated it, she actually didn't have to cut much off. I came in with a 1 year grown out balayage that I dyed purple. I wanted to add in more "natural colors" to my hair so I can transition away from the purple (I guess to be more professional at work), but I really didn't want to part with it completely. Jenn did an AMAZING job!! She kept my ends purple, gave me highlights that will transition beautifully and will fade gorgeously. She also did this wash that removed minerals from my hair, and let me tell you... My hair feels like a one year old baby's head of hair. I literally cannot stop touching it. The products she used weren't heavy and my hair still feels absolutely amazing, soft and light. You know how sometimes stylists love to go overboard with products after your cut and you end up a greasy mess that you can't wash out right away because you want to preserve the color? Their products don't do that! I woke up and my hair is usually oily just because I have thin hair, but not today! I'm so SO happy with the results and will definitely come back. I've been a client of Cirrus for 5+ years now and can't say enough good things about her cuts and color. My hair is low maintenance: despite being blonde I only have to see her 3 times a year, whereas many of my other blonde friends have to go in for touch-ups every eight weeks to avoid looking grown out. I've also had multiple shades of blonde over the years, and she's knocked it out of the park on every blonde variation. I really don't understand all the negative reviews on here - yes it's expensive (but most sessions I have are a minimum of three-four hours long) and yes you have to be realistic about what's possible with your hair color and texture (ie., if you have dark brown hair or damaged hair she can't get you platinum blonde in one or two sessions - it's science). But if you value your stylists' time and have realistic expectations, you won't be disappointed. I've also referred multiple people to Cirrus, all of whom were very happy with their results. read more

Unethical, shady business. Stay away! They have several (not just one) unclear, extremely poorly written, and vague cancellation policies, and have a severe lack of integrity. In my case, they charged me $120 and never refunded me, while I have never stepped foot in the salon. Context: I booked an appointment for 4 days later (one of the many cancelation policies says you can cancel within 72 hours ie 3 days), which I canceled 2 hours later for personal reasons. However, they don't have a working email to cancel through. You have to cancel via text message. I reached out via both the phone number and replied back to the email that confirmed my appointment (this bounced back). Cirrus said she'd call the girl I was booked with. I assumed it was resolved, because it's a very straightforward matter, but when I checked my bank account 2 months later, there was no reimbursement, and Cirrus said she takes no responsibility. Doing business with this level of lack of integrity is extremely frustrating, to say the least. There are plenty of other high integrity and super talented hair stylists in SF that will not steal your money. Beware of a business that doesn't have a working email, and that has screwed other people over. You cannot expect them to do a good work on your hair and take responsibility for the results. read more

I've been a client of Caitlin Boehm's since 2014 and she's the BEST. Before I met her, I always felt like I left a salon with hair I didn't really love. She totally changed that for me. She really listens to what I ask for and she's a genius with color. If I show her a picture, she gets it dead on. I get tons of compliments on my color and I owe it all to her! She's also great with cuts - over the years I've gotten layers, gone short, and asked for a blunt cut. She always gets it right. I left a comment 2yrs ago after a terrible experience (which still boils my blood just thinking about- thanks Cirus for starting my Sunday off in a negative vibe) and the owner responded with a rant trying to put the blame on me. TODAY, 2yrs+ later she's updated her response to make it look less aggressive- proof this salon and owner still deserve 1 star and in fact no stars if that was an option. P.S. I wasn't getting "laid off from my job" crazy..I was telling someone on the phone PRIVATELY the company was going through layoffs which I was not impacted by and why is that even relevant and/or why would you make note of that? I was sent home with wet hair upon the owner's request because I had an objection to her stylist's application of over bleaching my hair sections that were previously bleached already. Lilly was professional, sweet, and worked miracles on my hair. My hair had split ends and grown-out color and was just a hot mess after a year of neglect. This is a review for Scott Brinkerhoff, the best hairdresser I've ever had. Every time I got a haircut with him it just made my day and I always got compliments after. I am fairly clueless about what looks good on me and so I'd just show up and say "Scott, make me beautiful" and he would. I also sometimes picked the option of a long hair haircut which was a higher price and he'd argue I had medium length hair and charge me less than the option I'd picked. I write this review as I just arrived home after leaving Sacramento to go see Cirrus in San Francisco. I have been on the road a total of 4 hours with my hair not done. I knew Cirrus and salon had a late and cancellation policy, so I made sure to Waze my trip the night before, and I also confirmed with her 10am the morning of my appointment. Unfortunately, on my way I hit the scariest hail storm I had ever been in. I text Cirrus immediately at 1:43pm and sent her and image of the hail storm. (My appointment was at 3:30 pm. I let her know the situation about the hail storm, and that my Waze said I would arrive 3:50pm.I did not get a response via text until 2:58pm. I kept driving to her to avoid penalty and charges and I didn't want to waste her time.) Many drivers had pulled over under the freeway overpass to get out of storm and it was pouring hail. The freeway was covered in hail and it was dangerous to drive. I still continued on my way to see her. She called me when I was nearly to San Francisco, and said she could not take me anymore if I was late. I was definitely upset, but the storm was not in my control and I attempted to be there. I had just driven so far and she did not make an attempt to take me even for a cut. I booked 4 hour appointment for a color correction. I was upset because she told me unless I got there in 10 min she couldn't see me at all. I texted and asked if she would be charging me, and I hope not because the weather and traffic was out of my control. I figure if there wasn't enough time to do the color maybe she could at cut my hair or do the consultation because I drove 2 1/2 hours to see her. She refused to take me and said she didn't like how the dialogue of the texts were going and refused service to me ever!! I did and still don't know what I did wrong other then being late because of the storm. I understand Cirrus is very talented and in demand. I drove a very far distance in a storm to see her.I wanted my hair done even after she was rude to me. I took a day off work and didn't want to waste anyone's time. Cirrus was rude in the texts and called me "psycho" and a few other people that made bad reviews about her on Yelp "coo coo". It's a shame I didn't get to have my hair done, but there are many other hair colorists out there with great talent and much better customer service. I still don't know why she took my texts the way she did. I still think she is talented and this review is to just let everyone know how I was treated not for her work because she refused me service even when I asked her what I said wrong.
