I was a little nervous to see what would be left as I went around 3pm, but when I got there it didn't disappoint. The workers are so friendly and welcoming to help out a seafood lover like me! I wanted some blue crabs and shrimp to eat so I opted for the X-Large males a dozen ($89) and some X-Large shrimp to be steamed. I also made sure I grabbed some snow crabs and shrimp to go in my freezer to save for later seafood cravings. When I tell you the fisherman hooked me up! Ba...by he hooked me up! I bought a dozen and the "extras" he threw in were about 8 extra! I was like wow this is what I'm talking about custmer service above and beyond! As I waited for my deliciousness to be steamed to perfection I grabbed some corn and shrimp and clam chowders. And they were so tasty I can't wait to go back to get more. My seafood took about 30 mins to steam and I just took in the ambience of all the scenery of the wharf which is even when cold a great as I waited. You already know I will be back! Seafood is LIFE!

And let me tell y'all... it definitely lived up to the hype. This place is an experience all by itself. There are different stations depending on what you're ordering, so at first I was a little confused , but once I figured it out, everything moved pretty smoothly. The staff was patient, answered my questions, and helped me figure out exactly what I wanted. I decided to order three fresh oysters and a half-pound of shrimp with Old Bay seasoning, and I was so excited because I absolutely LOVE seafood. The oysters? 10/10. Fresh, clean, and exactly what I hoped they'd be. Every bite reminded me why I love oysters so much. The shrimp were another highlight. They were a really nice size, perfectly seasoned with Old Bay, and paired perfectly with a little butter and lemon. They were simple, fresh, and packed with flavor. I also got to sit outside with some amazing people while everyone compared what they ordered. We had everything from red snapper and whiting to flounder, fries, sweet potato fries, and macaroni salad on the table. It was fun hearing everyone's opinions while we all rated our meals together. Those are the moments that make food even more enjoyable. If I had one small critique, it would be the fries. They weren't my favorite, but honestly, I came for the seafood, and that's exactly what delivered. My overall rating: 9/10. Fresh seafood, a fun atmosphere, beautiful waterfront views, and great company made this one of my favorite food stops during my trip to Washington, D.C. Their prices vary like most fish markets and they aren't the cheapest (sometimes cheaper than Harris Teeter or Safeway), but their quality is much better. Eg. Tuna steaks? $14.50/lb. ($9/lb at the Marina) Wild caught Alaskan king salmon? $20/lb. If you want the *best* prices and selection, go to the the Washington Marina on the waterfront. However, this place more metro accessible, and definitely not as smelly. My favorite thing is to pick up a fresh catfish filet($8/lb) after work, egg wash it, bread it with panko, and fry it on a skillet (add oyster sauce if you're really advanced). The guys behind the counter will also have advice and suggestions if you need help choosing or preparing a fish. Tip: They usually close a little bit earlier than the rest of the market, especially on weekdays.
