Be still my beating heart! If Saltchuck was a man, he would be my Prince Charming! I could gush on for hours about the pies, but that would take time away from the actual eating of the pies. They have an ever-changing, wonderful selection of pies that are out of this world. I haven't tried one yet that I didn't like and it's hard to pick a favorite. Being a beef lover, my go-to pies are usually the beef with mushroom and I have never been disappointed. Hot and filled with delectable chucks of tender beef smother in a hearty gravy and swimming alongside delicate slices of mushrooms. Heavenly! The also have the infamous homemade sausage rolls. You can taste the love that goes into the pork! Meat and feta is always good for breakfast, while the pecan butter pies are best to be kept for after consuming all of the other pies. Whenever I get off the plane in Victoria, my first stop is Saltchuck. Whether eaten with a lovely red wine or scrambled eggs in the morning, you will enjoy their fresh and delicious pasties. Note: They are closed on Sundays, so stock up on Saturday!

    French Lentil and Peppercorn Cream

I heard about this place from an Aussie building a house in Parksville. Said they were the best pies he had ever had. And you know what? He wasn't wrong. I had the French Lentil and Peppercorn Cream pie for $6.50. Fair price for fair food. Nice and warm, well cooked, well seasoned. My only thought would he making larger ones (and charging a little more) since one isn't quite enough, but two would be too much. Would definitely come again.

Some true blue kiwi pies here. A sight (and taste) for sore eyes after 1.5 years here in Canada. Amazingly yummy pies and they even stick watties sauce to pour on top!! Would definitely go back again

    Beef Wellington Pie

Got the Beef Wellington Pie for $8.75. A bit pricy for a pie with approximately a 3.5 inch diameter, but they've got pies from $5 upwards depending on the ingredients being used. The Beef Wellington was good and came out nice and warm. It was a less traditional Beef Wellington since the meat was sliced beef rather than a thicker cut, so that caught me by surprise and I'd probably consider renaming it to avoid any confusion. It had some white cheese layering the sliced beef which was nice. The pie pastry itself was the highlight - flakey with a nice tender base. This pie definitely could have used more meat as it was added quite sparingly. Based off my first visit here, I recommend you visit to try a pie for yourself! The flavour profiles are great so despite the pies not having much filling in them, I'll still definitely be back to try the other pies in hopes of finding one that's not only tasty, but also stuffed with protein :)

Saltchuck Pie Co. Many people do take out, but it's also lovely to stay in and dine.

First time here even though it's right in my neighbourhood. Chicken, apricot and Brie my first pie. Fabulous.

Good pies, but only if you haven't tried an authentic aussie pie. Also pies shouldn't be priced so high..it's a pie.

So glad we decided to walk in on our recent trip to Victoria. We did not plan to be here but…read moreliterally every person walking on the street seemed to be walking in and we were like - let's go, check it out. This is right outside the Public Market and has plenty of street parking on and around the block. From the get go, amazing ambiance - bright, colorful infused with wooden interiors makes you take notice. A very innovative menu makes it hard to not try more than you planned on. Service is fast and the staff is friendly. We had the below items and can't wait to be back to try more on their menu. It seems they do refresh their menu quite a bit and the current menu is definitely bomb! 1. Hong Kong style Pork Sandwich - 12/10, amazing favors, very nicely done! 2. Savory Poptart - 10/10, light, flake, buttery, melt in the mouth 3. Mandarin Day Dream from their Signature Drinks - Drink of my dreams. I will dream of it until I can have it again and I hope they do not drop it from the menu until then. Such a innovative and well balanced drink - 20/10, must try!! We need you here in the U.S. Whoever is dishing out these creative menu items (signature drinks & the sandwiches) needs a raise!

hey happy has chill vibes from the moment you walk in. exposed brick, big front windows, and fun…read moretiered wooden seating give it a cosy but open feel. there's a steady rhythm of quiet chatter and keyboard tapping, lots of beanies and toques, plenty of laptops out, and a young hipster crowd settling in for long stretches. i grabbed a table with a little card that read "sanitized," which was a small but appreciated touch. i ordered the apple pie matcha, house apple pie syrup, ceremonial grade matcha, topped with cinnamon sugar dust. honestly, i wasn't a fan of the apple pie syrup. it leaned a bit artificial, sweetened with honey and overpowered the drink for me. that said, the matcha itself tasted good, but subtle, smooth, earthy, and decent quality. temperature wise it was more on the tepid side than properly warm, which didn't help. i'd probably try their strawberry matcha latte next time. i also got the hashbrown with herb mayo and added a soft poached egg. it comes as a tiny square, hard and crunchy on the outside with a solid crisp. when cut into, the yolk was cooked nicely with a soft jammy ooze that coated the hashbrown. the herb mayo added a creamy, savoury boost and brought extra flavour to each bite. overall, hey happy is a solid place to hang or work for a few hours. great seating setup options, relaxed atmosphere, and a crowd that makes it feel effortlessly cool.
