My husband and I love Salt Grass and usually have a great experience but last night it was anything but great There were 2 women and 5 children under the age of 6 (looked young) .. the mothers ignored the screaming children .. the entire time we were there the kids screamed as loud as they could.. We told our server and his response was he had to listen to screaming kids every day We think the manager or GM should have done something These two women allowed their children to ruin our meal Such a shame.. If I could give less than one star, I would. The hostess was rude, had no personality, and was not helpful in any way. If the hostess is the first impression for a business, Salt Grass, Longview needs to change her status ASAP!! TERRIBLE!! We waited more than 10 minutes to be acknowledged by the hostess at 3:30 on a Sunday afternoon. Then, we waited another 10 minutes to be acknowledged by a server. Service slow, wrong dressing on one of the salads, three of the steaks were ordered medium rare and they came back rare. I kept my, didn't mine the extra blood. Father-in-Law and daughter returned theirs. After 15 minutes they both came back without their sides (bake potato and the other one fries). They both still looked fairly rare. Daughter decided to keep hers since she was really hungry. Father-in-Law returned his, another 15 minutes his came back with his sides and my daughter's fries. His steak looked mutilated, burnt and still fairly rare, not sure how they were able to do that. After this whole ordeal, we were fairly upset that the manager didn't offer a discount or something. Manager said they don't comp meals if they were eaten. The problem I have with that is we didn't just eat the food and then said there was something wrong. Worst experience I've had at a Salt Grass. Food wise horrible and as for management the half A** apologize he gave was just as bad. I would of rather him not even come by the table and say sorry. As for the bartender Robert amazing customer service he's really one of a kind. But this go around at salt grass more then likely will keep me going to them again. 3 stars only because it took so long to get our food . When we at last were served the honey barbecue ribs they were very tasty and tender, our waiter was very polite, but for the life of me why did it take so long to get our food, we were told several times it was coming right up, but we could only watch as other tables around us were served. Our waiter finally admitted the kitchen made a mistake but did not offer to do anything about it. I would understand more if it was busy but it was slow and there were many empty tables . Second beef is my wife and I were on a date and they seated us in the family area even though there were booths available ,all in all it made for a not very memorable dining experience . First time visit. Bartenders were very slow and un attentive. Did not know how to make drinks. Server had her first night and poured a Beer in my husbands lap. He was very nice and calm about it. Manager came up to wipe our table. She apologized and was very embarrassed. We asked for more towels which we never received We were charged for the beer that was spilled and had to ask for it to be removed. Steak was very raw they had to redo which took another 25 minutes. Wait time was only 15 minutes yet we were in there an hour and 45 minutes No one offered even to cover our drinks. Poor management !!!! Roadhouse and outback both immediately apologize and offer a full meal. We aren't looking for free meal but when EVERY PART of the service is poor they should offer SOMETHING! Last visit read more

Managers are rude to guests, servers ignore tables, food is never correct. Temperatures are wrong, and bartenders dont know how to make drinks. So if you want bad service, wrong food (and if you get the right food its over/undercooked) and really bad drinks this is the place to go i would give this no stars but that option isnt available read more

Saltgrass Longview is awesome. I've visited this location since it's opened and the service has improved tremendously. I'm so pleased with current staff and Management. The general manager Reggie is always attentive and pleasant. I will continue to patronize this location. Came here on a Tuesday night and waited about 30 mins for a table. The food was good but the service was lacking. Our server dropped off the food and disappeared. My bf asked for steak sauce when she dropped off our entrees and she told him he should try his steak first and if he still wanted it, she'd bring him some. Great idea if you planned on coming back to check up. We had to track down some unknown guy (maybe a supervisor?) for a refill on our drinks. Not impressed with the service. We tried this twice. Each time it took way too long, service slow, food below average. The server will come by and say hi but not take your order for 20 minutes. Then the time between salads and meals will talr about 45 minutes. The food is very pricey and just below average. The seafood fondue was pretty good. Garlic bread was soggy. Crab cakes lousy. Dropped in for lunch today and was sorely disappointed. Service was fine, but the food sucked. I eat at Saltgrass when traveling, and I have ordered the vaquero tacos at several different locations. Normally pretty darn good, but here they were pretty bad. Soggy, lukewarm, not a trace of the fresh cabbage or pico. The "steak fries" which are really just chunks of potato were totally unseasoned. The avocado slices were brown and looked like they had been sitting out a while. Overall a fairly poor experience. Figures the worst location I've been to would be in my hometown. read more

It's sad to see so many negative reviews. Perhaps I am a fluke but so far I haven't run into any slow services or incorrectly cooked food. I try to eat there at least once a month and always get the cowboy cut ribeye cooked to medium and so far so good, the streak was excellent. Hopefully if they are slacking in quality of food and service for some of their customers they can get their act together cause at least to me they cook the best steak in town. read more

I've eaten at this Salt Grass twice now, and so I'm giving this review based on those two experiences. The service was outstanding both times, both were lunch visits (or close to it). The food was very good, and the steaks cooked to perfection. I had the ribeye first time then the sirloin, my wife always orders sirloin. This restaurant is pricey but as long as they keep up the good work, I'll keep throwing them money. read more

Our food was good but could have been better. My steak was cooked perfect my husbands was not though. He ordered medium rare and it was right at medium well. My salad was ok the lettuce had seen better days, it was pretty wilted. Our waitress while nice wasn't very attentive and had zero personality. Quite a nice experience at our new Saltgrass in Longview. After some non-stellar dining dates at other Saltgrass locations I was pleasantly impressed with our Longview location. Every staff member we came in contact with was friendly and professional. We were greeted upon entry and spoken to by more than one smiling employee as we exited. The steaks were tender and delicious throughout the entire portion. During this visit we had a filet and a sirloin and the sirloin was almost as tender as the filet. We also had the crab cake which was above average and a couple of tasty grilled shrimp. The fondue was exceptional and the salads of good size and composition. Prices may be a little on the higher side when compared to other nearby steak establishments but I would rate our experience as about the same or better. read more

My wife had a excilit steak but I had ordered a Salmon Oscar that came out without the sauce and when I question them he didn't know how it was suppose to be served. Later one of the mean managers I guess came over and ask if everything was ok, I said no told him what I odered and his comment was people make mistakes and he took the cost off of the Oscar sauce 5 dollars. That's all he did, I don't want his excuse big it was disrespectful. I'll just take my business to the Texas Roadhouse next time. Salt grass of Longview is a nice place but the food was average for the type of restaurant it is. It is not cheap. It makes an okay steak. The steaks were cooked the way we ordered. We had the jalapeños stuffed with shrimp and cheese. They were good. Not a bad place to eat. Pretty much what you would expect for a steakhouse. read more

I've eaten at the one in Tyler and now this one in Longview. The service was weak and seemed unorganized and not well trained. Took our drink orders and bright our salads without silverware. Had to ask for that and it took a while to get it. Sat and looked at our salads for a while. Our meal took longer than normal to get and since the steaks were not good at the Tyler location I tried the chicken fried chicken. It's ok if you like a lot of salt. Others in my party of 7 ordered steaks and asked for them to be cooked medium and pink in the middle. All the steaks were medium well to well done. None of them had any pink at all. I'll not be back to any salt grass location unless others insist. Very much over priced, the menu lacks variety and service has always been lacking. read more

After dining at Saltgrass in Arlington Tx I've been anxiously awaiting the new Saltgrass in Longview. Had lunch there today and it was fabulous! The salmon steak was prepared perfectly, the salad and bread was very good and even the tea was wonderful. It's amazing how many restaurants have lousy tea and summertime in Texas demands the good stuff. My brother had the sirloin steak medium rare and it was perfect also. Waitstaff was friendly and helpful so overall I am very happy to have this new dining option close to home! read more

Ordered on Waitr, no issues with Waitr at all. We got our meal and the food was cold in the 10 minutes it took the driver to get here, again not her fault. Not only was it cold, an entire meal was missing along with bread for a family. When calling the restaurant, they acted as if they did everything right and referred us to Waitr, who is closed, instead of taking care of the issue. Awful customer service and would not recommend going here to anyone. If you're wanting Saltgrass, make the nice drive down interstate 20 and eat at the one in Bossier City for top quality and service. read more

My husband and I tried the new Salt Grass in Longview a few days ago. We really enjoyed their lunch menu. I had the tenderloins and my husband had the CFS and they were really good. The meat was tender, everything had a good flavor and the service was awesome! Great staff! read more

I loved Salt Grass at the boardwalk in Shreveport LA. I was excited for this one. Not too exciting when, my steak was cooked well done and I asked for as rare as you can legally cook it. I ate it anyways because I didn't want to complain and thought I will make the best of it. My steak was bland & my veggies were thoroughly undercooked. The se vice was great as it's not a waiter or waitresses fault when your food isn't cooked proper. Our server was super attentive, very polite, and kept our drinks filled. Visited last night (8pm) with my family. Ordered Western Chopped steak cooked MEDIUM. The food came out and mine was cooked well done (even burned on the outside). Our server, Austin, took it back to the kitchen right away and was very apologetic. However, my family finished their entire meals before my meal was re-presented by a manager (?Tony?). He apologized for the initial error and watched as I cut into my now RARE meat. I told him it was ridiculous that their second attempt was worse than the first and that it took over 20 minutes for it to come back to me raw. He just walked away from the table without saying anything other than "let me know if I can do anything".... Really?!? Austin came back by a while later and saw the bloody meat and took it away. He said it would be removed from the bill. At other restaurants when there is an error the second attempt is put in as a STAT order and presented promptly and correctly! Very disappointed in the kitchen and disgusted by the "managers" entire demeanor. read more

The bread was good and the fries were decent, however my $16 chicken fried steak was more breading than steak and smelled like fried bologna. They put mashed potatoes on my plate that I didn't order that TOUCHED MY STEAK (yes I'm one of those people). The green beans were under cooked. My husband's salad came out after I asked for it and after the food had arrived, in fact the waiter took our order and didn't come back until after we had received our food. I was there last night with a company group of about 25. The service was excellent with only two servers taking care of the entire room of us. Quick, friendly, professional in all respects. The atmosphere was very nice, warm and cozy with very little noise with a room full of people. My wife and I ordered the same steak cooked the same way. Mine was over cooked (I ordered medium rare and got medium well) and hers was half the thickness of mine and over cooked. We were reluctant to send them back because of the time delay it would cause with the group. Servers should be able to keep up with orders even in a group (write it down) and several were wrong. To summarize I would say it is a nice restaurant with average food. However I expect better food at those prices. I will try them again and give them a chance to wow me this time. read more

Visited this location in Longview for the first time last night with my family. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful service! I wish I could remember the young gentleman's name who served us so I could call him out by name on this review. He was friendly, kind, and gave us prompt service. Today my family and I went to salt grass. My sister and mother were up visiting and we decided to go to salt grass because my mom loves it. The waitress was AMAZING but we never received our salads and when we got the food we ordered, My boyfriends shrimp smelled bad, like it had set out for a while and was so over cooked you couldn't even bend it. My mom got the Oscar salmon and first off it didn't look anything like she had before (like I said she goes a lot, and she orders the same thing) the salmon was only a 4oz filet when it was supposed to be 8oz, she took a bite of the salmon and instantly spit it back out. My sister tried it and spit it back out. The salmon had gone bad and they still chose to cook it and give it to my mom. My sister ordered grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, and a salad, but like I stated before we didn't get our salads. The chicken was only a 5oz piece and so overly cooked, she had to get ranch to eat it. And they still charged us for the dinner size that came with a salad even though we didn't get the salad. So we told our waitress what was wrong and she said she would let her manager know and see what they could do. Well, you'd think the manager would have some common courtesy and would come out and apologize for the poor meal and try to assist with the issue. Instead he kept sending the waitress back out to tell us things even though it was only her second day. They ended up bringing my mom the salad she was supposed to have in the beginning and brought a piece of carrot cake out for my boyfriend in place of the shrimp. My mom got her salad after asking for dressing on the side (because she can't eat a lot of dressing) they put it over the top. Then when they brought her a new one with dressing on the side she couldn't eat half the salad because it was brown and slammy salad mix. After the waitress having to walk back and forth to the manager because they wouldn't come out, my mom asked to speak with one. A manager that came out wasn't the one she was talking to because it was a woman, she said her name was Kimberly but her jacket said Brittany so not sure what exactly her name was. She came up to the table with an attitude before we even got to explain to her what had happened. She asked what was the problem, everytime we would start to explain she would interrupt us becoming very defensive. She brought us our ticket and it still had everything on there even the food that wasn't eaten. While we were asking her about why it was still on there she snatched the ticket off the table and yelled "well what do you want me to do about? Tell me what YOU think should be taken off" we told her just to take off what wasn't eaten and she came back and explained what was taken off our bill still being $91 which she couldn't explain how. We then said fine whatever because her attitude was so bad we were becoming angry. She just set the check down and asked if we needed anything else and I responded telling her she needed a new attitude if she was going to work in customer service. Then she laughed and said have a good day and walked away. We were civil the whole time until she became extremely rude and unprofessional. We never saw the guy manager that they were referring too that knew the situation supposedly. The waitress again was the only redeeming quality of the meal. We gave her a great tip in cash. Unfortunately we will not be back after how awful the management was and how bad the food was. The whole drive home my mom was sick to her stomach and had to take medicine when we got home. Seriously a terrible experience and I hope they find a new Assistant GM because Kimberly or Britney whatever her name is was the worst manager I've ever experience.
