One look at my belly and you can tell I love food. New to Longview and this is the first steakhouse I tried. Needless to say in my three weeks of living here, it is still the only steakhouse I've tried. I love chicken tenders and this place has not disappointed. Absolutely terrible. Now I can see why the Texas Roadhouse had an hour wait and this place had a zero wait. It took forever for our food to arrive and when I finally got my grilled chicken salad the grilled chicken was raw and cold. My mother was missing two of her sides that she ordered and they completely forgot to make my daughter's meal. We also had to ask our waiter for items 10 times before he could seem to remember to bring them to us. By the time they brought my grilled chicken to me and my mother her sides she was finished with her steak and we were ready to go. Save your money and go to Texas Roadhouse. read more

Ladies at the front desk did not look like they wanted to be there, our waitress was nice and understanding of the situation. The Loaded Potato Soup, tasted awful, the texture was off, and it just didn't taste good. The bread was even cold, and the butter was.. nasty, to give it a compliment. Our orders came; a bone in porkchop, with added $7 shrimp, and HALF** rack of ribs that was not stated in the menu, that had shrimp to accompany it. Our order arrived quite a bit of time after we placed it, and both orders of shrimp were cold, and my SO's pork chop tasted like plastic. She didn't touch it after she took one bite of the COLD and under cooked shrimp, and one of the "straight of the plastic" pork chop. The only hot thing on our plates were my ribs, which were okay, as well as the mashed potatoes, but nothing to pay $21 for. Our waitress came and apologized and called her manager, who offered us offer meals (pretty sure we had to pay) and eventually they took her meal off, (they almost conveniently forgot her added $7 shrimp). It still ended up to be $30, for one person and two drinks. In my eyes, if they cared about customer service, take her drink off as well, because honestly, if she would have taken more than one bite of anything on her plate, they would have charged us as is. Wait around the same time, and walk across the street to Texas Roadhouse, better food and you won't have to take your SO somewhere else to eat after. read more

I will say this was the worst dining experience I have ever dealt with. As a server of over 7 years I can say this establishment is one of the worst ran businesses out in East Texas. We had a baby shower over 30 people and they only had one server that waited on us. We never had our tables cleaned between courses and I had to get up and clean our table myself because we had no room and pretty much every meal was over cooked but we couldn't complain because the waitress didn't come back until it was time to drop tickets off. Then she proceeded to print each item separately walking around the room yelling to find the person who had ordered it. That lasted 30 minutes then we had to wait over an hour to get our credit cards and change back. Then we tried to call and complain and they said they couldn't do anything about it.. read more

Redressed the cut and now charred burger with more sauce under the cheese instead of over the brisket and brought it back WELL after my husband was finished (no condiments for my fries this time either). Said up-firing is standard here rather than re-firing. (Ugg unsanitary!) Offered to make me a fresh one while my poor husband is done eating and waiting. I declined waiting another hour for a burger that may be undercooked again. Small apology and the only thing they did for all the time and trouble was take my meal off the ticket. Nothing else. Normally love Saltgrass, just walked in, alone, with no less than 10 empty tables, ( yes I counted) I was told it would be a 20 minute wait to sit. I was ALONE!!! Obviously they didn't want my business very bad. Went across the street to a much, much busier Texas Roadhouse and sat down immediately. Went here for my wife's birthday. Took 15 minutes for the appetizer to arrive, considering it was just chips and salsa, I thought it a bit long. Little did I realize. I ordered a 12 oz. ribeye, my wife the blackened redfish. 30 minutes later (after we had killed the chips and salsa), our meal arrived. Steak and veggies on my plate were stone cold. My wife's redfish was excellent, fresh and hot. Caught a waitress, (not the one who took our order, she was nowhere in sight) told her about my cold food, she took it back to the kitchen. 5 minutes later, she brought it back out. It was no longer medium rare, it was medium. I refused to eat it, she got the manager. The manager took the steak off the ticket, but charged me for the salad that came with the meal! Went here today for lunch. Food and service was great, but the place was so cold we were shivering. (I'm talking frigid) We are not complainers, but it was so cold we couldn't wait to go outside to get warm. Our server was great and we asked her to please ask someone to turn up the thermostat. Honestly was quite disappointed with the whole experience at this location. We usually go to the Saltgrass in Shreveport and that's where we continue going after tonight. First, when we tried to order they where out of a new item on the menu, so I order something different that was good but my side of asparagus was very dry and just not as good as it should've been since they charge extra for it. We all got our salads and soon after found a HAIR in one of the salads. When our food arrived one of the sides was wrong. So, then we got the $100 ticket with the added cost of a wrong side and the hairy salad, when we brought it up to management they took a whopping $10 off and hid from us tell we paid. read more

Went to Longview salt grass for our anniversary meal. Got ribeye steak and bbq ribs. They took our Landry's card and we got our $25 reward for our month we picked. We took it to go. Lady on the phone helped me locate a picnic area close by so we could eat it there as our house is an hour away. Everything was perfect! Steak was tender, ribs were wonderful! Salads were good. We started with that bacon wrapped quail which is stuffed with jalapeno cream cheese and grilled with Siracha Honey.........wow! Had we died that moment, that would have been a good way to go. As "J" said, we can't see either of us coming here again and not getting that every time! It was served on a unique bed of broiled and shredded Brussels Sprouts that had a little crunch and this was awesome too. Best Way I have ever had Brussel Sprouts. "J" had a salad before his steak and I had Tortilla Soup and these were both good but these are not why you come here. Now, the 10 ounce Pat's Ribeye came tender with fat and a good pat of butter....is that why it's called Pat's.....whatever, it was delicious. We got our steaks medium= our favorite way. It was about $18 so we doubt it was USDA Prime by the price but it was as good as any Prime we have had. A very good steak. We got mixed vegetables with ours and they were good too, not standout though. The atmosphere is nice. Darker inside with good room to move about in. Upscale Western decorations and pictures all over....reminded me of a western style Red Lobster setting but nicer and without that Red Lobster smell. We sat at the bar and watched football so this meal rocked. The price was well over $15 but worth it for great food. No Diet Dr Pepper, only DietCoke. The service from the bartender was nice and friendly. Despite the place being full, our food came out fast considering. We tried to go eat here tonight, after waiting for 45 min to be seated, we sat at our table for over 20 minutes, with not one server coming by. The manager talked to two tables near us for 10+ min each and I tried to get her attention multiple times to ask her where our server was, but failed to get her to come to our table. After almost 30 minutes and watching multiple tables frustrated to not see their servers either in the same area, we got up and left. After letting the host know, she acted confused why we'd leave. I don't think waiting 20-30 minutes with not one stop by from a server is acceptable at any restaurant. We were excited to try Salt Grass, as we are new to the area. But after that experience, I don't know that we will be back. We were able to go to another restaurant that was even busier and we were in and out within an hour and had a fabulous dinner. read more

The wait at roadhouse was an hour and a half, so I decided to come to Saltgrass. Took a little while for our waitress to come ask what we're drinking, and we didn't get our complimentary bread, so that annoyed me. The food wasn't bad at all, but definitely over priced. Personally I won't be back, I have no problem paying good money for a steak dinner, but for what I paid I should have left with a full stomach. The waitress was nice and they were a little busy so the wait I can somewhat understand, but not getting the bread, and not getting full really upset me. I forgot to mention my girlfriends steak was undercooked, she ended up liking the medium rare that they brought her, but some people would have been pretty upset over that. read more

The only beef I have is that they forgot to cook my wife's meal, so they brought her's late in the dinner. The manager apologized when they realized they had not brought her meal. Saltgrass Steak House is supposed to be a steak house right! Well guess what they don't serve Prime Rib anymore. They said they were simplifying there menu so they dropped the Prime Rib. DUH!! We used to go there twice a month for prime rib with several other couples who also would order prime rib. We thought it was the best Prime Rib ever. Now we go to Outback or Texas Road House.
