I get it that it's the holiday season and it's a Saturday night, but I identified myself when I made the reservation as Landry's member and I specifically said no table by the bathroom or the kitchen and somewhere quiet and they seated us in the bar by the kitchen. Then when we went back up to be seated they stuck us by a party of 15 or 20 people. Several smaller tables and booths open throughout the restaurant but they want to seat us in the bar or next to a large party; after requesting a quiet place. The hostesses just had a bad attitude. When I am going to spend 100.00 on eating out and being a Landry member for years, I am going to request what a want and if your attitude or capabilities can't meet my needs or expectations I'll share my money with another establishment. We have choices where we spend our money and being a Landry's member for 15 years I'm really disappointed and we will choose other places. read more

A steakhouse, even a chain, should be able to cook a steak to the proper doneness. My medium filet came out on the rare side. I sent it back and it came out again still medium rare with a cold, blood red center. I sent it back a third time and got it back well done. The staff, actually a different waitress and the manager, were very kind and understanding. My waiter had disappeared but that's okay because I had grown tired of explaining which wine I had ordered and after the 1st recook, noticed him in a different room while I had waited 8 minutes on that recook that should have taken 4. I will say that the 2nd waitress was kind enough to bring my potato back to me on the 2nd and a fresh baked potato on the 3rd. My experience with running a steakhouse myself is that a medium filet should be a thicker cut. This was quite thin and should have cooked through faster. After the 3rd recook and the well done steak came out, I took a bite and found it dry and chewy. I couldn't eat it and asked for a check. The very nice manager came out and asked if she could adjust the ticket for me and did so. $12 off a $37 steak that I ate 4 bites of. Oh well. The salad was good. read more

My son took me there for mother's day today, horrible. We were seated, no napkins, no silverware, cold disgusting food. Butter wouldn't even melt in the mash potatoes. Service was horrible. Truly enjoyed my dinner of steak and shrimp. Perfectly cooked to what I requested and juicy tender steak. Shrimp was large and great cocktail sauce with it. Our server was on top of ever request and kept our drinks flowing and never let us down when we needed anything. So many times we go out to eat and service or food disappointed us. What an incredible restaurant.... Amazing service the perfect date night for me and my husband. We both enjoyed an incredible New York Strip his rare and mines medium with Cajun toppings and they came out perfect. We both enjoyed a loaded potato with a side salad! My choice of drinks was a Josh cellars California wine because I'm from California of course and my husband had house margarita with sugar on the rim. Our appetizer was the fried mushrooms. We were a party of 14 from 3 different states gathered to celebrate a 90th birthday and we needed a private party room. Our experience at Saltgrass was first rate in every way! Our room was set up when we arrived early to put out some decorations, the music was turned off in our dining room to allow for easier conversation, and the tables, chairs and restrooms were clean. Our server was Jasmine, who did a fantastic job being helpful, friendly and patient with 14 guests. Our food was fresh, delicious and visually pleasing, and our party was really enjoyable. A huge thank you to Jasmine ( and the cooks and other staff) for the outstanding hospitality and service! Her manager in Longview should certainly commend her for a job very well done. We have eaten here several times and enjoyed it every time. The latest being today for lunch. We had fried mushrooms for appetizers and was very pleased. We are elderly and we share a meal because we can't eat large portions. This is the only restaurant that brings the meal divided and on two separate plates. We think this is very thoughtful. We had the ribeye steak. It was cooked perfectly and it was delicious. The service was pretty good, effective but could have been a little more personable. If I could give it a negative 5 I would! We came on Thanksgiving Day with a reservation at 1:00 for a turkey dinner. We were seated 40 minutes later. Everyone in the party ordered the turkey dinner and 30 minutes later we were told the turkey dinners were sold out. We ordered off of the menu and 45 minutes later got subpar food that was gloppy and cold. In speaking to the General Manager, Reggie Theus about our experience he had absolutely no interest in what had happened. Going to corporate with this. Very poor management and food. read more

I called two days ahead to order my mom's favorite carrot cake from Salt Grass longview. I was told it would be ready Friday for pick up by 530pm. Called again at 430pm to let me know I was on my way to pick up the cake. It was a hour drive. The first person hung up on me and then the second person said no problem they had plenty and it would be ready. Arrived actually at 715pm and guess what? No one had no idea ‍ of the order. They had me wait over 20 minutes so they can frost one that had been freshly made. I was told it was frosted extra for inconvenience. Frosting by the way is DELICIOUS and extra would be a major plus for my mom. Well just opened it and looks like what I would have expected from myself baking a cake box mix. It is poorly frosted and very little frosting covering the cake. This is not how they look. Also all the crumbs are all over the frosting. Its leaning to one side. Not worth what I paid for it to look like this. Now I am debating to go run to another bakery before she arrives and get her a regular cake. read more

We took my in-laws for thier 60th Anniversary. This was thier first trip to saltgrass. Our service was top tier, and I having a restaurant background,am picky! They wait staff was on top of the game all evening! The food was delicious and fixed just to order. My steak was juicy and tender. Everyone of us truly enjoyed the meal. Then the manger brought put a special treat for my in-laws to mark thier Anniversary. It was the icing on the cake, it made all of us so happy! The only draw back was the music was so loud we couldn't enjoy conversation, but it was busy and the crowd noise probably would have kept us from hearing each other as well. So normally my husband and I enjoy this steakhouse. But he went last night with a former student of his and they had a terrible experience. First there were empty tables and whole sections closed off but they had to wait over 20 minutes to be seated. My husband usually gets sweet potato and salad with his steak. They were out of iceberg lettuce. So all they had was Caesar. He doesn't like Caesar. So he said just give him broccoli. The waiter said that since he will be getting two sides he would have to charge him for the potato. That's dumb right there since they are out of salad they should just sub another side. But he didn't want to be difficult so he said what can I get since there's no salad. The waiter said soup. So he said potato soup. He asked if it had bacon and the waiter said yes. He doesn't eat pork. So he said to hold the bacon. They bring him his food and it was only steak and broccoli. He asked for his soup and the waiter said that he had told him he didn't want the soup. Again that waiter was just not with it. The young man did get soup and didn't eat it because it was cold and sweet. Potato soup. Yuck. So it comes time for the bill and the waiter said he would give the young man a military discount as he was in uniform. Ok so he took like 15% off of his meal. But after the waiter ran my husband's card he noticed the credit card receipt was still the original amount. He had removed the military discount. And didn't give him back his itemized receipt. So it was $70 for two people to eat steak and broccoli or whatever vegetable the young man got. My husband was very embarrassed and wished he had taken the man elsewhere. Poor management and waitstaff that aren't qualified and maybe should be a busboy instead. read more

I had the crab meat stacked for an appetizer it was delicious. Consisted of green onions avocado crab meat and pico de gallo. I would recommend the green beans and the brussel sprouts for side items. 4 years ago we tried Saltgrass to celebrate my birthday. We had terrible service from a rude waiter and mediocre food. We never went back. Yesterday was our 42nd anniversary and we decided to see if Saltgrass had improved any. NO! Our waitress was nice enough but forgetful. We place our order and ...............waited. Finally our entree's came delivered by someone else. This person asked us if we needed anything else and we said our appetizer. salads and drinks. She said she'd look into it for us and send the manager over. everything else we ordered came all at once. The appetizer was sloshed out of the bowl. The salads we warm and had the wrong dressings and the baked potatoes were cold in the middle. Never saw the manager but, the bill arrived right after. We've been to this location a few times. The service is very slow and calling in your order doesn't help since you still end up with a long wait once you arrive. The food is good but some items still need work in preparation. Any restaurant should know that when you have a salad to go (romaine lettuce and soggy crotons) they should have the little bag of crotons so that they don't go soggy and a Caesar salad should have more than lettuce in it. So my very best score for them would be a C+. I still prefer the food that I cook to any I've tasted in these restaurants. The flavor was good. If only they would brine that chicken breast, that would make it juicier and tender. Not sure I'd visit this location again. read more

the experience was superb!! we had a wonderful lunch and the service AND food were amazing!!

To preface, my family and I have eaten at Saltgrass for many years, so I know how things typically take place. This location was less than desirable. Experience was very subpar. Greeted by the hostess, brought to a very dark corner of the restaurant to be seated. He took our drink and appetizer order (very out of the ordinary), then messed up the drinks, gave my toddler a large glass to drink from. We received our queso appetizer which was less than half full and VERY salty (not worth the $20). The waitress finally came out and took our order and then "forgot" our salad and soup which came out at the same exact time our dinner did. Mac and cheese was very over smoked, steaks were very thin and had a very weird scent to them. We ate and ordered a slice of cake to go. We ate the carrot cake at home and it was so dry, nuts tasted old, and tasted like it had been sitting with the steaks all day (tasted like meat). Needless to say we all had food poisoning the next day. Looking at reviews on other sites this seems to be the "thing" with this location. We will not be going back. read more
