As a total Pilates newbie, I started with the Savor class (the heated one with those HIIT-style intervals) and loved how it pushed me while still focusing on controlled movements and core strength. The heat (around 85-105°F) gets you sweating in the best way possible--it really helps you flow and deepen into the poses. Today I tried Zest, their non-heated option, and it was just as challenging and enjoyable but in a different way--still super effective without the extra sweat factor. The instructors are great at guiding beginners like me, the classes are musically driven which keeps everything moving seamlessly, and the whole studio just feels welcoming and motivating. Never thought I'd be this into Pilates, but SALTVAULT has me excited to keep coming back and trying more formats. Highly recommend--whether you're new or seasoned, this spot delivers! When I arrived, there wasn't much of a greeting or clear check-in process. The instructor seemed busy, so I ended up putting my things away before even checking in, which felt a little awkward. The studio has a wide variety of equipment, which is great, but there was a lot going on visually. Equipment and bins were spread throughout the space, making it slightly difficult to move between machines. I appreciate the variety, but better organization would really improve the flow of the room. The class itself was unique, with a mix of ages and genders, which I liked. The instructor was kind, asked about experience levels, and offered helpful modifications to either intensify or simplify movements. That said, there were moments where direction wasn't super clear, and some people (myself included) got a bit lost. The pillars in the middle of the room also made it hard at times to see demonstrations. Cleanliness was okay... the equipment didn't look dirty, but it didn't feel particularly clean either. For example, around the weight-changing areas, there was visible dust, hair, and debris. The area for shoes and bags also had a slight odor. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. The instructor and workout itself were good, but the small details (organization, cleanliness, and overall flow) made a difference. I'd probably try other studios before returning, but I wouldn't completely rule it out.

The space feels fresh, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed. Our instructor, Sheena, was absolutely incredible. You can tell she's passionate about what she does and genuinely wants everyone in the room to get the most out of their workout. I…read moresaw them on Classpass and went on a Tik Tok deep dive for an instructor that played rap and R&B music and I came across Jaya. When I got to the studio I was about 20 minutes early but she was so nice and sweet and made me feel so welcomed. The workout nearly killed me in the best way possible and whenever I'm in San Diego I hope I can take a class with her again! The music was chefs kiss! The class had me sore for a few days which meant it did what it was supposed to do.

This is my favorite Beyond Pilates location in SD hands down. I've checked out Point Loma and State…read more& G locations as well, but parking can be tricky downtown for S&G. Kensington is solid because you can usually find street parking pretty easy, depending on the time of day. This studio is clean and gets a ton of natural light. If you go to this location, definitely check out Nihan's classes. Regardless if you're a beginner or advanced, she'll make your time on the reformer worth every penny. I come back every week and I'm always sweating by the end of her class. Bring a towel and water! It's no joke, but love the class and love her as an instructor. She cues well and corrects form if needed. Highly recommend!

As a novice male, Pilates felt a little intimidating at first, but Jenny makes everyone feel welcome right away. She starts by asking each person about injuries and adjusts the class accordingly. She demonstrates every movement, keeps everything easy to follow, and even helps you refine your technique. What really makes her classes fun is her energy. She brings a lively, upbeat personality that lifts the whole room, and her sense of humor adds just the right amount of laughter to every class. It honestly helps you push through the toughest moments. And she deserves extra credit for the music alone. Jenny is an excellent DJ, choosing playlists that keep the mood positive, the energy up, and the whole class moving. Since mid-February, roughly, I've lost 14 pounds and gotten much stronger primarily through working with Jessica at Janae Luxe Pilates Studio! Some of my friends are likely sick of seeing me check-in there on Facebook or at the Convention Center Stairs... but it's been fun, and hard, and rewarding.... I've laughed, cried, almost given up, been amazed at what I could do... so many emotions! Proud sometimes and sometimes so discouraged that it's likely too little, too late, but I know that it's not! See that I wrote this 3 years ago, wow! Still going, now for TRX and Pilates. Plus we do the Convention Center Stairs on most Monday evenings! I love Jessica, the results, and that I'm still at it! Haven't stuck with any other form of exercise this long ever ... And I turned 59 in May. We joke often that my plan is to keep this up and really be in good shape when I turn 80!!! So far, so good!
