TIP: Get $40-60 in cash (there is a Wells Fargo in town), Arrive at 4-5 PM when the fishing boat crews arrive, Bring a $1 bill, write something on it and pin it to the wall, If you like Bloody Mary's, get one or more. This is a MUST DRINK HERE in Homer AK. Every town in Alaska has one or more dive bars but this is the crown jewel of Alaska dive bars. heck it out.

This old place is just a hoot. We were actually searching for an ATM machine and stumbled in here. We found the ATM and then had to stay and have a beer. This is must experience bar in this small hamlet.

Cool vibe about the only game in town in September. Thought we would run into August AKA redhead or Atz Lee but nada.

We made a day trip to Homer from Seward and this spot was mentioned a lot on Reddit so I thought we might as well check it out. Salty Dawg Saloon is truly an experience. It was rainy and cold outside so people had packed in to get some warmth. The establishment is cash only, but there's an ATM if you don't have any. It was busy but service was prompt and super friendly. As the kids would say, the vibes were immaculate.

This place is awesome and we just had to visit! Although it is small, it was packed for a Sunday.

Go to Salty Dawg Saloon, we had a really good time. The bartenders were really nice and super quick to make your drinks. Good vibes with locals and visitors alike

    The cavernous bar.

This. Place. Is. EPIC! Enjoying an Irish coffee with friends after a night of shenanigans and music. The soundtrack here is Pink Floyd, 70's and 80's rock. The bar mistress is my spirit animal and I just got the coolest Tshirt. Atmosphere is super chill and welcoming. Drinks are appropriately spiked and I will never forget the dollar bill aesthetic. 10/10 for service and ambiance.

Love This Place!!! (Just fyi Cash Only!)

Great ambience, Excellent staff, yummy drinks, all-in-all, an absolute must!! Just FYI, Cash Only!

A must nostalgic stop when in Homer. Bring cash , that's all they take, grab a cold one and settle in. After awhile you will start to try and count the abundance of currency labeled and hung on every square inch of the place. If lucky you can sit outside or spot a recent catch being fileted. The bartender was busy but care of everyone! Enjoy

A great local bar. Friendly staff with good service. I recommend this place if you want just a bar not food.

Fun dive bar. Cash only. Sign a dollar bill and become part of the history. The wearable souvenirs are excellent.

You've already been told you need to go here, if nothing else because it's basically the only bar on the spit.

We ordered the steamer clams for an appetizer and practically fought over the last of the sauce in the bottom of the bowl. I ordered the Creole dish which had a spicy tomato sauce with shrimp, scallops and clams. So good, the side of griddled bread worked well to swipe up the sauce! Husband had the Pan Roast - scallops and shrimp in a garlic butter cream sauce - my goodness. Once again the sauces that they make here 10/10. The seafood is all fresh, tender and cooked perfectly - definitely the best scallops I've ever enter in both dishes. If we were staying in Homer I would eat here every night because there were several other dishes we wanted to try. We took a strawberry rhubarb crem brûlée for the road and had it once our food was settled...another delicious dish. It was a meal I will not soon forget.

We met the Water Taxi around 5PM and started the trip across the bay..it's about 20 minutes and truly beautiful! The boat pulls up on the beach and you walk up a small trail to the restaurant. Now we had about 20 diners on the boat so this joint went from having one guy at the bar to like 6-7 tables all of the sudden.. they couldn't handle it at all. We waited about 20 minutes for drinks that just sat at the bar. Appetizers were ready before we got drinks. I know it's ALASKA but this just seemed off for a place of this caliber.. no manager on the floor or anything? Started with some appetizers that looked amazing but fell flat on execution, very little flavor at all. We all got entrees and again everything sounded great in description but had very little flavor; Halibut was barely luke warm but was plated beautifully! We tried all kinds of drinks and they were fine and they had a great whiskey I really liked. Dessert offerings were pretty weak so we just tried a Chocolate Mousse that was not good at all with some Espresso's that were served warm not hot? To be honest the place operated like they had just opened for business.. the waiter never asked how anything was just running thru the motions! Very pricey but the restaurant and location is absolutely beautiful. Talk Later
