Was outside on the deck with my wife and toddlers on Saturday Memorial day weekend. The sun was out and had the place to ourselves, (bar inside looked crowded:: it was sunny dont know why?) perfect spot for mom and dad to have a beer and some Oysters! Kids were happy on the huge deck.

First things first, you cannot beat the setting of this restaurant. We were seated at the bar overlooking the water, the mountains and the staff making our delicious food! We ordered the steamer clams for an appetizer and practically fought over the last of the sauce in the bottom of the bowl. I ordered the Creole dish which had a spicy tomato sauce with shrimp, scallops and clams. So good, the side of griddled bread worked well to swipe up the sauce! Husband had the Pan Roast - scallops and shrimp in a garlic butter cream sauce - my goodness. Once again the sauces that they make here 10/10. The seafood is all fresh, tender and cooked perfectly - definitely the best scallops I've ever enter in both dishes. If we were staying in Homer I would eat here every night because there were several other dishes we wanted to try. We took a strawberry rhubarb crem brûlée for the road and had it once our food was settled...another delicious dish. It was a meal I will not soon forget.

What a great cozy spot on the spit to have dinner. It can get very busy, so if you don't want a long wait I suggest coming earlier. The staff is friendly, you get to see them preparing the food over the counter. It was cool, if you can sit at the bar. The oysters were delish! They have ramen on their menu. It was cold and rainy outside what a perfect time to try it. It was a good serving, yummy too. If you are looking for good ambiance, good oysters this is your place.

1/2 dozen oysters, sav blanc, red knot

It was our anniversary and we decided to celebrate by going to lunch at a new place for us. He ordered a Red Knot beer and I had a glass of Sav Blanc. We shared 1/2 dozen local oysters (fresh, clean, so very tasty) and a shrimp & grits that I am still dreaming about. The shrimp & grits had a chorizo gravy that was AMAZING! great service - great view and fantastic food!

Sun was out, so why not! Inside and outside dining Oysters are mmmm so good! I liked the raw just straight! The baked ones were okay, I'd rather have raw. Flavor in the scallop, bacon and parm was on point. The Creole plate came w rice and toast, not spicy for me but was for my husband (he can't do any spice). Scallops were cooked just right, not chewy. Service was great, 1 plate at a time was better than everything at once. Best part...... the ocean rolling in and out beneath you.

Creole with grits

The food is incredible. This literally rivals Michelin starred restaurants. If I lived here I'd be poor because I would eat here every single night. I got the creole with truffle grits instead of rice.

What an amazing Kodiak oyster you have. Took a day trip from the Kenai River Lodge to this magical spot on the Spit. The food was delicious and fast service, great beers on tap and wine list was exquisite. Happy we chose to stick around in the somewhat off season in October they open a bit later. It was a perfect end to a perfect day spent in Homer on the spit. If you like fresh seafood & great service with a view look no further. Aloha brothers at the Oar!

Beautiful view!

After another great day of Alaskan fishing, I decided to check out the Broken Oar Oyster Bar. Great meal, great service, and a magnificent view. Highly recommend!

Stopped by here after fishing for the oysters and beer. Great restaurant on the water with both outdoor and indoor dining. Raining the day we were there so ate at the bar. Got our drinks and dozen oysters. Good size fresh oysters. After watching them make food we decided to eat here. Ordered the creole, pan roast, and shrimp and grits. Pan roast was great. Shrimp and scallops in a lobster citrus sauce. Creole was shrimp and scallops in a spicy tomato sauce. Both came with rice and toasted bread. They were delicious. Shrimp and grits had really creamy grits and a nice tomato sauce for the shrimp. Service was great at the bar.

Best oysters that I've had in a long time, ordered the farmed Kodiak oysters local to Alaska, best big deliciously sweet oysters that were sweet and slightly creamy. They also had pan roast that I also ordered even though I was super full I ate the whole bowl and half dozen of oysters. It was Amazing you also get to see an amazing ocean view, and sometimes can spot little sea animals. They are small a cute little bar but they also have some out door seating if you prefer more space. They have great local beers and draft! Highly recommended!

Best seafoood in Homer, this place is the bomb. The oysters, baked and fresh, as well as the specials, and the black cod ramen.

Clams tasted like they were in soapy dishwater and the crab cakes had way too many shells cooked into them

The nice thing about eating here in Homer is that you know the seafood is fresh. Homer is home to…read morefishing boats and a number of seafood processing plants. There are several restaurants on this boardwalk and in the surrounding area. We spent all day halibut fishing and were looking for a bite to eat afterwards. Our guide gave us a few suggestions to choose from. I decided to check out Boardwalk Fish & Chips because of its casual relaxed atmosphere. They are know for their halibut fish and chips. They also have beautiful views of the Kachemak Bay from their dining area. We were able to spot some Orcas swimming by while we were eating. Majority of my group ordered the fish and chips. I got the Shrimp Basket with coleslaw. Boardwalk Fish & Chips is open seasonally. Their menu offers a number of seafood classics, burgers, soups and salads. There are several gifts shops and stores on the Boardwalk if you want to do some shopping before or after you eat. This was a nice place to stop in for a quick bite to eat.

We tried the cod and shrimp with chips price was a bit on high side wish it came with more chips. The chips were amazing crispy criss cut fries wow! But the cod fish was very good but the batter falls right off and is not seasoned very much. I didn't like that the shrimp were skewered on a stick. The shrimp was hard to pull off and when you go to pull a shrimp off all the batter falls off and the shrimp is unseasoned so it tastes like what you dip it in. The fish and shrimp were fresh and of good quality. Won't be heading back next visit to Homer.

I just want to say thank you to Coal Point for an exceptional experience with packaging our fish. I…read morehad contacted them the day before our scheduled charter and they were very informative and told me to just give them a call as soon as our boat comes in and they would meet us at the dock with the totes. I informed our captain that we would be utilizing Coal point fish processing so they let them know 20 minutes prior to arriving at the docs and the worker was there waiting for us to pull in to retrieve our fish. I gave him my name my number and off he went. The next day, I called in to make sure that the fish would be ready for pick up as we were heading out of Homer that afternoon. When I was ready to pick up the fish, they pulled it out of the freezer and found the best way to have it packaged to be sent home. We were not leaving till the following day and overnighting in Anchorage. As I did have a cooler with me but our fish weighed 45 pounds and with the cooler it would have been over what is allowed for a bag through the airlines without incurring overweight charges so they suggested to ship it in a box and ensure that it would stay frozen for 36 hours, which gave us enough time to overnight in Anchorage and fly home to Hawaii without being thawed. Because we arrived in Anchorage so late we did not have an opportunity to put it in a freezer overnight, but when we reached home and opened the box and cooler that Coal point had packed for us, all the fish was still rock solid. We were also staying on Homer spit so earlier in the day. I did stop by to check out the location prior to having to come back later to pick up our fish overall such a great experience and I will definitely recommend them to friends and family and also would utilize them again if I ever came back.
