Most margaritas are made with good tequila, triple sec, and fresh squeeze lime juice.. They make a mic of llimes and oranges now! Iit tastes more like an orange margarita than a regular margarita. For years, they always made it really good and now it's just processed. They say it's all fresh squeeze in the morning but why do they put oranges in the margarita mix.? The service was paramount despite the automatic 20%, I tipped above for the excellent service. The drink was tasty and satisfying , bougie champagne sangria . The neighboring table got a marg flight ... dang it looked like a complete nite! The chips were so crisp and the salsa chunky and cilantro foreword, perfect in my world. The possible short of staffing showed up in its slow service, messy tables and slippery floor. Yet we paid premium for it all. But for the delicious Margarita, I will take it. Our waitress worked hard to make sure we were well attended. But she just couldn't be at two places the same time. Food came late and semi-warm. The popular duck taco I ordered didn't taste bad. But the combination of duck chunks, cream cheese, and Caribbean Jerk seasoned cabbage seemed like a mismatch. All well, fault was all mine. I will not order it again. It seemed I was the only person didn't like the food. Tamales, stuffed avocado, Quesadilla, Queso dip, chip and salsa were all being devoured by bunch of picky eaters. I envy them. The restaurant layout and setting is not senior friendly. It took some time to assist my 80 yrs old neighbor get seated. I was worried she might fall because of the narrow path and slippery floor. It was also a very warm humid day. Staffs kept both front and side door open. The fan in our seating section didn't work which made the dining experience very uncomfortable. The house margaritas were delicious, especially with Tajín added. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and the service was attentive throughout our visit. We used to frequent SLC. At one point there was a surprise charge for transportation on the bill stationed me on ever coming back. We decided to give it another try. It did not appear busy which worried me but we were seated right away. Service was great. I noticed the menu has been greatly reduced since our last visit. Pork belly tacos were solid as was the margarita. The coco loc not so much. A 20% gratuity is added to the bill. We came in Sunday night 9/21 and had such a weird experience. The air conditioning was out so we sat near the back where they said it was cooler and waited a few mins to get menus. We noticed the menu change and the automatic 20% gratuity charge on every check. The menu is a lot smaller now and way more expensive for mediocre Mexican food. The service was interesting she seemed really flustered and all over the place. The kitchen half way through our meal started blaring music and started singing super loud. It was such a weird atmosphere it was almost comical. I felt like I was on the show what would you do. My family and I will never be returning. Huge plate of build your own fajitas with expertly grilled proteins & veges - my wife had the shrimp. I had the soft tacos of carne asada grilled steak and pork carnitas. I want to emphasize the expertly grilled part! Many Mexican places just overcook and char proteins & veges into submission and hope their sauces hold it together and make it palatable. Used to Love It... Not Anymore Salty Lime used to be a favorite, but it's gone way downhill. Food and service just aren't what they used to be. Even worse, it's not safe--there's a super narrow walkway to the bathroom that goes right past the kitchen door. I saw it hit a customer, and a server hurt their knee on it. Cleanliness is also a big issue. Cups were not clean and there was a lot of food on the floors. My margarita flight came on a board with visible mold. Super disappointing all around. Hope they turn things around, but I won't be back anytime soon. read more

I've been going to salty lime since it opened. I've taken many of my friends and family when they come to visit me in Palm Harbor to this restaurant we showed up tonight the menu has shrunk down to almost a few good items. I asked for vodka and tonic. They had no tonic. They gave me club soda. They said that you have to pay 20% added to your bill. The food prices are very expensive to what it was a year ago very disappointed. I probably will never go back there again. read more

I'm in love with how they have flights of everything. We came here, because of their flights of margaritas. 18 flavors! They all have fresh fruit, which is amazing. When the margaritas came out, I was shocked, it was like three full size margarita glasses. When my sister's solo margarita came out, it was huge, which is probably why the flight is normal sized glasses. I got the blueberry, mango and strawberry jalapeno. You can add jalapeno to everything for a spicy kick. My sister got a margarita with basil and it was delicious as well. If you like big quantities and margaritas, this is your place. For dinner I got duck tacos. It was also delicious and had tons of filling. My friend asked me how it compares to Bar Taco and it's all about the filling. Maybe the quality is a little less, but you get a lot more food. We also tried the flight of salsas (again, loving their flight idea). We got queso, guacamole and a Caribbean avocado salsa. All were very good. The waiter convinced us to double up on queso (you get four choices), but honestly the size is pretty big for each, so next time I'll get four different salsas. I've never been to this area of Palm Harbor before, but it seems like a great place to restaurant hop or have a progressive dinner. There are seriously like six restaurants all within a couple blocks of each other. On a Saturday night there was live music at what seemed to be three of them. Outside of the restaurant row, it didn't seem exceptionally safe, but staying within the confines of these restaurants was fine. Parking is street parking and free. I don't think you'll have much trouble finding a spot, because if all the parking spots are taken you can probably just park a couple blocks down in residential. Our server didn't write anything down and it showed when he brought out the wrong dish for me and forgot my sister's dinner. However, since I was enjoying the margaritas this didn't bother me at all. We have gone to Salty Lime quite a bit in the past. We just recently went and boy have things changed!! Food was less than mediocre and service was not good at all. We went early and the place was not busy at and our server was nowhere to be seen. They have a new policy that a 20% commission would be added to our bill to make sure the servers are compensated. I do not know the reason (nor do I need to) as to why Salty Lime Cantina has decided to add a 20% Commission to every check... However, I will say, from a consumer perspective, it may not have been the wisest move. I typically tip anywhere from 20-30% every time that I dine out, so the percentage is not my issue. My complaint is that the service that we received this evening was terrible in comparison to every other time that we've dined there. Perhaps the server we had is always inattentive and forgetful...Or...hear me out...Perhaps she doesn't have to really go above and beyond in the service industry any longer, since she is (according to the laminated PSA on each table) GUARANTEED a 20% commission, and therefore wasn't really concerned about our 4 top only having 2 sets of silverware, or that my husband's drink was empty, my daughter-in-law asked for a "side" of queso with her meal, and we were brought and charged for a full appetizer of queso instead. My husband ordered three tacos, and was only served two...and the list goes on... The final straw was when she brought the receipt for my husband to sign, and the ONLY thing on it was the amount being charged, a TIP line, and then a total line. NOTHING on the actual payment receipt indicating that a 20% commission was already charged...which felt almost deceptive. Never been to such a sh** restaurant pompous enough to serve customers raw, undercooked and under seasoned food. Our party paid over 100$ we will NEVER get back for microwaved food. !! When we arrived, most tables were empty but by the time we left at 7 pm, pretty much all the tables were full so it definitely gets busy! One of the reasons we decided to come here was for the margarita flights-- for $20 you get 3 margaritas that are smaller than if you ordered a standard one here, but at any other restaurant I would call 3 normal margaritas! They have a variety of different fruit options, which is fun, and all the fruit margaritas we got had fresh muddled fruit included. My sister tried the strawberry jalapeno, blueberry, and mango while I got a basil jalapeno margarita. They were all delicious. Food-wise, we got the dip flight with queso, guac, and the Caribbean avocado salsa. The salsas were all tasty and the chips that are served at the restaurant are good quality. For my dinner, I tried the tamales-- they come already taken out of their corn husk and slathered in a mayo-based sauce + tomatoes. The restaurant charges a MANDATORY 20% "service fee" in an apparent bid to offset their labor costs onto tips. This in a roadside shack type setup with plastic water tumblers. The server we spoke to said that they were paid $1.00 per hour plus tips (whatever portion of that 20% they actually see). I feel for their staff... they are being taken advantage of. We were very hesitant because the last time we went there we were surprised by a mandatory 20% gratuity on ALL checks. The service was slow after we were seated but eventually had our drink order taken. After we waited for an hour and a half for our food while two nearby tables who sat after we did were served and the tables turned and served again on our third request for the manager our food started to come out. We were not all served at the same time and the manager "Cameron" still did not show. After our fifth request for the manager one of our party had to physically go find him. He said he was too busy with being one person short in the kitchen to come talk to us. He said he might have put one or two tickets in front of us and that was his fault not the servers. He smirked the entire time he spoke with us. This was my worst restaurant experience in decades and I travel for a living.
