This place is complete magic. The items aren't perfect, but they're PERFECT! (i.e. They're vintage--old--so some show their age, but to me that makes them better! Why buy vintage if it doesn't look like it?) The pieces in their store are chosen by someone with incredible taste. They are all special & are pieces that make a room/house. I came here for Yelp's Chiberia Sendoff and a Hendrick's Gin event. Salvage One is an amazing space that offers alot of customization options for events. I've seen the 2nd floor transformed with a maze of sights - like a hot air balloon and a mysterious creature in a crate...who ultimately fed you drinks - and laid out simply with a party, some tables and a stage for performances. The 1st floor maintains the fun, rustic vibe of the gallery itself - complete with antique furniture and fixtures - and has a nice little courtyard during the spring and summer that opens up the space even more. If you're an event / party planner, you should definitely check this space out. If you're just a party goer, say "yes" to the invite at Salvage One. You won't regret it. read more

Was just here for the Yelp Chiberia event. This place is really amazing. The way they display all the re-purposed items is cool, creating many small alcoves & private areas, as well as large usable spaces. It would be a great place for a unique wedding or party. Spacious and yet intimate at the same time. We just had my daughters wedding at Salvage one in December 2017. I can't say enough about the staff at Salvage One. They are professional, courteous and their communication skills throughout the process was incredible. Colleen and Erin are so easy to work with and they accommodated every need that we requested, from working with all our vendors, to making sure elderly guests were taken care of, to attending to every detail we asked for. We feel so blessed and lucky that we were able to have the wedding at Salvage One;it will be in our memories for a lifetime. My husband and I got married here last weekend and are so glad we chose Salvage One as our venue! It is so unique and nontraditional which is exactly what we wanted. All of our guests raved about it. The ceremony site, courtyard, and reception area are so beautiful and make for great photos. One of the best things about the venue is that since there is so much to look at and the aesthetic is so cool, you don't need to spend extra money on extra decor or go overboard on flowers. We had our wedding at Salvage One a few weeks ago. I would recommend it wholeheartedly, it was perfect! All our guests were in awe and we got so many rave reviews from family and friends. Working with Sara was a pleasure and everything was very smoothly run. A lot of reviewers mentioned it's a bit pricey, for us though that was balanced out by the fact that the place is already "decorated". It looks so cool as it is, that you don't really need to spend tons of money on linens, florals, fabric, candles, whatever, that you would in a more "blank slate" kind of place. We used Salvage One for our wedding ceremony and reception, and we could not be happier! We had a cocktail hour on before the ceremony for our family and friends to get a chance to mingle. This was on the first floor and then a seamless transition to the ceremony space right nearby. Then while we took some family photos the rest of the party moved upstairs and we joined them within the hour for dinner & dancing. It was so much fun! The space easily hosted 180 guests or so, and being able to have the ceremony and reception in the same building made everything one big happy event. It also provided conversation starters, reduced the need to create an environment, and saved on table and chair rentals! For centerpieces we just went with simple candles in mason jars and the atmosphere was magical. All of our vendors had experience in Salvage One and had a good sense of what would work and how. We also had to plan our event from afar and Salvage One was very accommodating. Skype, schedule, and access for planning were easy and fruitful. It's easy to see why it's so in demand... because it is so worth it! If you are looking for a recommendation that helps you decide to take the plunge, this is it. We whole heartedly encourage anyone considering Salvage One for a wedding to go for it! read more

What a beautiful building to hold an event in. I attended my niece's wedding there on 7/31/15 and was quite pleased. Staff members were top notch. Restroom and smoking areas are easily accessible and there is plenty of street parking available. The place is huge so there's plenty of room for banquet tables and dancing. read more

Yelp review for Salvage One From the perspective of a wedding guest, this place gets a thumbs-down. These enthusiastic reviews all seem to be written by brides who are eager to justify their selection. When a guest says the place was "different" or "unusual," don't assume this is a compliment! No one is going to say, "Why on earth did you select a junk shop as the site for your wedding?" I think what happens is that the brides/grooms are searching for a location which is "unique" and end up here. It's very trendy but a poor choice. It's expensive: $6,000 for a Saturday night rental. For that you get very little. If you have the wedding ceremony in the courtyard, it costs an extra $500 and they have only a couple dozen chairs. The rest of the guests have to STAND! You have to hire other vendors for decorations, linens, all the food, liquor, flowers, music, photographs, extra chairs, etc. Plus you're compelled to hire Salvage One's wedding coordinator because otherwise everything would be chaotic. It all adds up to a lot of money. As a result, many brides end up skimping on costs and choose to do without basics such as tablecloths!! If you've having your reception in warm weather, there is no air conditioning on the ground floor. Geographically, the location is in an iffy location...you might not want to park on the street. Departing guests may have to wait as long as an hour for a cab. Bottom line: I would think twice before accepting an invitation to attend a wedding reception at this warehouse: in spite of the expense, it feels cheap. It's very uncomfortable for guests to have to stand during a wedding service, melt in the heat, wait an hour for a cab, and have to eat their food off bare tables! Yuck. read more

What a fabulous place! We had our daughter's wedding here in September, and everyone loved it. It is so unique to start with, and then they customize it (a little) for you. It is beautiful in a funky way, which was just the vibe my daughter and son-in-law wanted. The downstairs, where we had cocktails, is chock full of antiques and bric a brac, perfect for photos, and the upstairs ballroom is spacious and beautiful. The weather was great so we were able to use the pretty outdoors for cocktails, too. read more

One word...Outstanding! I joined Yelp just so that I can review Salvage One and our other wedding vendors, we were married at Salvage One on NYE and it was even better than we imagined it to be (which is pretty amazing considering we fell in love the second we walked in the doors). The venue itself is beyond gorgeous, there's a little bit of everything for anyone's taste and it all comes together to make this unique, beautiful, inviting...never to be forgotten venue! We have received non-stop compliments from all of our guests, young and old alike! We looked at other 'non-traditional' venues and truly nothing else compares. As far as the staff at Salvage One and how the actual wedding reception went, again outstanding! When we signed our contract with Salvage One we were working with Sara but a month before our wedding she left and Brandy took over as Event Manager. This made us a little nervous considering we had only worked with Sara to that point and a month out you're already very busy with all the final, last-minute things. Brandy was FANTASTIC! She was friendly, informative, available, flexible, accommodating, etc, etc, etc! Above all she really made us feel like she was there to help make our wedding as smooth and easy for us logistically wise as possible, which is such a relief when you're trying to coordinate so many things (and believe me, not every vendor in the wedding industry is this way). I could go on for 10 pages on how amazing she is, just take my word on it! The rest of the event staff the day off was excellent too! Very friendly and helpful, not just to my husband and I but to all our guests. Everything was exactly how we had discussed at the production meeting and it was so neat to see our 'vision' of how we imagined our wedding reception come to life! Salvage One has gotten the formula down for putting on great events, they have options for everything you would need (coat check, parking options, etc) and they really help to ensure your event runs smoothly! I came here for one of my friend's weddings. They held their wedding and reception here. I have to say, it was one of the coolest places I have ever been to for a wedding. The home decor is antiques turned into modern art. There is something to see every way you look. They have contraptions that look like they could be from a movie! The staff was very friendly, there is a huge room for receptions/dancing, a bar, and tons of spots for really cool pictures. The wedding pictures I saw were gorgeous. If you are looking for something different, creative, and fun to put in your home, or a really cool place to have your event, this is the place to be! read more

I can't say enough good things about Salvage One in Chicago. We were lucky enough to be able to have our wedding at Salvage One 2 weeks ago (early September) and were completely impressed with every step of working with the venue. First and foremost, the fee for the space is VERY reasonable considering what you get with the space. They guarantee tables and seating for 175, but can easily add tables if your party is larger. Because the space is so eclectic and unique, we really did not add much decor and we were able to use many pieces from the space where we needed to. We had both our ceremony and reception in the space and we were able to get exactly what we wanted for a look and feel with everything there. The indoor ceremony area (where we had our ceremony) is comprised of salvaged goods from places of worship, so it had a more "traditional" ceremony feel, which was exactly what we wanted. The outdoor space is equally unique, but less traditional. Brandy, the coordinator for Salvage One, is exceptionally responsive and knowledgeable. I would HIGHLY recommend booking in advance, as this has become a very popular wedding/event destination. LOVED every moment of our wedding because of the location! read more

I have fond, nostalgic memories of this place when it was bigger and all the floors were crammed full of weird and wonderful architectural wonders. So, this was like ten years ago. I have been hyping this place to my husband since forever and we decided to head there today. So easy to find, great parking right in front, cool stuff on the main floor but then there's a wedding starting to set up. That took up most of the main floor and the next. So, we trudge up to the third floor and it looks like what I remember. Honey, here's the stacked doors and windows! I'm looking for a window to place photos and hang on the wall, great. Tons I could choose from but NO PRICE tags. So annoying. We did find a fireplace mantle we like and it may fit, they were kind enough to hold it for us. The place is still cool, lots of items for a cool shabby chic home and garden but I guess it's more of a wedding venue for the hipsters. read more

Above all from chandeliers to tables, and cast molds to retro-innovative chairs, Salvage One will always deem itself worthy and perpetually crafty with their cafeteria tray water fountain from the roof. What you do need to do as soon as you book this place is book Amy as your day of wedding planner. She went above and beyond the call of duty for my wedding and there is no doubt we would have been lost without her. She emailed me and made sure to keep me on task and to go through all the tiny details that I would have over looked. Honestly, for the time and energy she put into planning my wedding (it really is not just "day of" she is there for the walk-through, the rehearsal and on email to answer all your questions and concerns) she should be charging A LOT more than the 500 dollar fee (Amy if you read this-raise your prices!). Her and her sister Sara know the venue inside and out, have seen tons of weddings done in this space and they are creative and artsy. After signing up for a few volunteer spots with some great organizations, I walked outside to their back area and felt like Al in wonderland. Bathtub waterfalls and grass ramps turn their outdoor area into this kind of picturesque fairytale. This space is incredible, and the staff are wonderful. My husband and I held our wedding ceremony and reception here earlier this month, and we're still hearing from our guests about how fun, beautiful, and eclectic the venue was. It's an extremely flexible space, which was ideal for us because we weren't sure of our guest count. And although we had a full dance floor for most of the reception (a testament to our great band, Bill Pollack's True Blue Band), there is also a lot for people who don't feel like dancing - some friends explored the lovely and eccentric courtyard, while others played foosball and shuffleboard. My husband and I got married here two days ago and we're so glad we did. When we first visited the venue we knew it was special and after a few flowers, candles, and our families were added it was everything we hoped it would be. Their pricing does seem a little more expensive than some other venues but I think it all comes out in the wash because more things are included. For example, table and chair use is included (there is no separate rental fee), you do not need table linens besides napkins because the tables are beautiful rehabed antiques, and lastly, you do not need tons of flowers/ decorations because it's already beautiful. Salvage also allows you do choose from several caterers and our caterer allowed us to provide our own alcohol. Our wedding guests frequently commented on the uniqueness/ beauty of the venue. These factors, to us, made Salvage worth the price. read more
