Great selection of draft beer and full bar. Menu has so many items I need to come back to try! We have had the lunch buffet, which is very reasonably priced and has something for everyone. We have had a couple impromptu gatherings here, and staff has always beed super accommodating. Our server, Tone, was very attentive and quick to the table when someone new arrived. I have no real complaints about Salvino's. I like their baked cheese with marinara and pesto appetizer a lot. Their pastas are all very good as well. Their lasagna is delicious. It bothers me, however, that they're not able to accurately identify which entrees are made with bell peppers. My husband is allergic to bell peppers of any kind or preparation, and we're baffled why it is that they cannot tell us what dishes have them as an ingredient. He ordered their prime rib recently, which he described as hands-down the best he's had. Unfortunately there was bell pepper used somewhere in that dish because he spent the next two days barely able to function. We suspect it was in the rub used on the meat. Is there bell pepper in their marinara or pizza sauce? Maybe. Nobody seems to know for sure. What about this chicken dish or that seafood? Who knows? Mystery time! But, as I said, no major complaints. Just give me an accurate ingredient list to avoid accidentally poisoning my husband. That's all I really want in a dining experience. read more

Salvinos was a decision when everything in Kalamazoo seemed too expensive or too hackneyed for dinner on our Friday night. This restaurant is established and everything seems to be in proper order. The waitstaff, the conditions of the dining area, all of it was pretty much what I expected. My partner of 42 years was declined an alcohol sale because he couldn't prove his age with license. While this was flattering, it was a little bit awkward when they couldn't establish an exception. It's one thing to card someone and another thing to pin a 42 year old as a dubious 20 year old. Flattery aside. The meal was hot and the food was competent for what was ordered. The salami in the Italian cordon bleu was significantly denser than was expected. But it was an experimental dish so they get points for trying. Alas, the retractions are hard to discount. My partner could t get a drink and couldn't get silverware unless we asked, so the table wasn't prepared for two diners. Salvinos is large and their drink specials are generous. Their food is well done and what is sold in the menu. Chances are, Plainwell being 20 minutes out of our way, that we will likely not return. I understand fully about liability in serving underage patrons, but at some point you have to regard a 42 year old as having a certain benefit of the doubt. Give it a shot, the food is quite good and the prices are well-balanced, but *bring your wallet* if you wish to take advantage of the bar. read more

We came here on a Sunday afternoon on our way back from Grand Rapids. This mistake will not be repeated. If we had just gone home, we could have made dinner and eaten it by now. My son accidentally spilled water and went to ask the hostess for a towel. They gave him a few paper towels. Not enough to soak up the water... Then, the Wet napkins sat on the table for about 20 minutes until I had to ask the waitress to take them. When we got here, there were about 8 or 10 other people. We have been here for 45 minutes and we just got our food. Except me. They brought the wrong entree. I'm just going to eat at home. Our waitress was sweet but 100% incompetent. This was a mistake. Update. I've been begging for water for about 20 minutes. The manager just brought me some and the previously requested to go boxes. She was very nice. They are not charging me for the entree I asked them not to bring. My family did not enjoy the Stromboli or the Alfredo. My pesto cream sauce was fine - I think their food was fine too (I was nibbling since I was under the impression I would be eating later at home), but nothing special. I'm upgrading from two stars to three because the waitress was clearly upset about messing up the order and the manager was super-nice. My opinion stands. This is not a good restaurant - maybe the pizza is decent. I'll never know. read more

Their food is pretty decent, but it's definitely worth going back to time and time again. Service is courteous and the decor is actually very nice. Their menu is decently sized without being overwhelming. Their food is just slightly above average and you can definitely tell some items are processed, but you can also tell that it's not just frozen dinners that are microwaved - they actually put their food together and cook it unlike a chain restaurant. Their prices are the most amazing thing their, as they are the most affordable restaurant with a good quality rating. Their buffalo wings are very good and I highly recommend them too. read more

This information was suppose to be given to the manager. We waited four days with no contact, so i called again. A female employee answered our call. It wasn't terrible. I was told before I went that it was created by the same guy who brought us Uccellos. Low and behold, the menu was almost the same (from what I can remember), pizza puffs (labeled as "dippers") and all! I ordered the meat and bean burrito, which wasn't spectacular...just very average. Our waitress wasn't very nice. Maybe she just has a severe case of resting b**** face, which is always disappointing from someone who knows they are making their money by being good at their job (most of the time! First experience here last night, and I was not disappointed. My husband goes here all the time for lunch, loves it, and wanted me to try it. We had just come from a movie, and our kids were a little squirmy, so we asked to be seated outside. It was reasonably quiet, given that you are on dining on M-89, and the tables are spaced nicely. We ordered bruschetta, the Taste of Italy w/ caesar salad, and the kids chicken tenders and fries. The bruschetta was amazing (I would be tempted to just make this my meal next time - SO GOOD), the ToI was tasty: the chicken was moist and flavorful, the lasagna had a very "fresh tomato" taste to it (good thing!), and the alfredo was basic, but yummy. The caesar salad dressing was a bit sweet for my taste, but perfect for my daughter. The chicken tenders and fries were tenders and fries (though those fries were right up my alley). We ordered the tiramisu for dessert, which was perfect. Lots of creamy mascarpone, not too much espresso or cocoa powder. As far as service speed, it was reasonable. Without kids, it would have been perfect for relaxing on the patio. With kids, it was ever so slightly slow, but just as I was starting to question where our food was, it appeared, so problem solved. Overall, I like this place. We'll be back as a family (and maybe alone), and yes, it's worth the 10min drive from Kalamazoo. Happy little update: my second time visiting. Bruschetta is still yummy, and the house dip is also super tasty. Service was great again. read more

We stopped in and ate there I got the Sicilian Flatbread and chicken tortilla soup. The soup was actually the best part of the entire experience. The sandwich was not good. I didn't even eat half of it and the I didn't even taste any of the Italian vinaigrette, and the sandwich appeared to be burned. The service was alright but as a server myself it could have been better but they were pretty busy but it did take an awful long time for them to deliver our check which I thought was kind of ridiculous. read more

Never had a bad experience here. Normally come in during the breakfast buffet on Sunday's. While I'm in town visiting family. Great choices. Buffett bar is always stocked. I'd give this place 5 stars. But one night I put in a to-go order through yelp. It told me it would take 20-30 minutes for it to be ready. I even left the place I was staying at after the half hour mark. Walked into the carry out section and still had to wait another 20 minutes. Great place. Good food. My family and I dinned in once on a Saturday at 4:30 pm, the waitress was rude and annoyed that we did not know what we wanted to order as soon as we sat down. I asked two questions, she was annoyed and did not know the answer to either. Once the food came out it was good, a bit expensive.. Since then, we order out pizza once, they messed up our bill by charging too much, they claimed they would apply a credit to the account for the next order, which they did not. The 2nd time I called to order pizza the girl who took the other was extremely rude. We will not return. Oh and also the parking is TERRIBLE.... I thought the food was actually good. I'm a vegetarian, and I had no difficulty finding food that I could eat on the menu. However, the service was terrible! Our waitress was just strange... And there was white sauce on my salad plate--yuck. Something else I noted, there was nothing in there to absorb sound, so it was very loud and just able every fork hitting a plate was audible. Despite this unpleasant experience, we came back again recently during lunch time. We were standing at the front desk for a couple minutes and no one ever came out to seat us. I took one bite and then was about to take my second bite, I noticed a hair when I went to pick it out the hair was wrapped around the bow tie pasta. My daughter and I went to Salvinos today for Mother's Day Brunch. Salvinos has brunch on Sundays for 10.99 a plate. When we got the bill it was $60.00. I spoke to the manager and asked him why they would not have let customers know that the price was more than double what it normally is before they ordered. He seemed to care less about our concerns and said it was posted on their facebook page. There was a table of about 15 people behind us who were livid because they had just got their bill as well. When they tried to talk to the manager about their concerns he just walked away. I will never eat there again!!!! The people at the table of 15 said they go there every Sunday and will never return. I do not think that someone should have to check a restaurants facebook page before dining. read more

Stopped for an early dinner today, 5:30. Got seated quickly. We both ordered a pasta. DH had the penne with meat sauce and added Italian sausage. It was a nice portion, the fresh basil was also good. The sauce was a bit sweet but good. I had rigatoni with half meat sauce and half Alfredo. It was very good. We will go back and try something else next time. read more

Our first experience here fairly positive. Nice, clean place, nicely updated from previous places. Extensive menu (maybe too extensive?), excellent service. My husband enjoyed his Italian sub and the fact it was baked. My minestrone soup was good, had some obviously canned ingredients, but no pasta in it, just like in Italy. It hit the spot on a chilly day. We will be back to try more things. I hope they continue to please, as there are very few good options for restaurants in Plainwell! read more
