Wow we went there Saturday night and the food was amazing and the service was exceptional! I wish we lived closer to go more often!

I went in on a Thursday around . When I went in the place wasn't busy, with 2 waitresses and was seated quickly. Little by little the place was filling in. My waitress took several orders around me before I have my Brewster club sandwich. I don't luke it with all the veggies, so I thought it should be easy. My service was slooooooow. I'll be fair because they were short handed, but fcfs does NOT apply here apparently. If you're not a regular, you may prepare to wait. Way too long of a wait! Bottles of bbq sauce and mustard were sticky and not washed for awhile! Guy who came in after us got food before us. Found out about 3% charge when they handed us the bill! Saturday 4/11/26 As someone in the service industry I hate to leave a review like this but our service was hands down the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. Walked in at 7 pm they weren't busy and had 2 servers , and right away ordered our drinks and apps. Server forgot our water (it happens not a big deal) she came back with our bar drinks and took our dinner order 7:15ish (broasted chicken dinner and burger). 7:30 our app came out and we ordered another round of bar drinks and water cause we still had not gotten those. About 10 mins later we had to go to the bartender for our waters and drinks. 8pm rolls around and we have yet to get our food or see our sever sense the apps came out. The 2 tables of 4 and 3 people that came in after us got their dinners and the server told us she isn't sure what's taking so long but she will check (didn't come back). We ended up going to the bar and closing our tap and leaving. The bartender hands down was the best service in the building but our server was not and didn't tell us her name in the past I would have highly recommend this place, but no longer will that be the case. read more

Dined outside on the patio for lunch today. The service was quick and efficient. I was in and out of there in 30 minutes. The food was absolutely fantastic! They have the best server in all of the Otsego/Plainwell area. You will not be disappointed. Try the smoked wings! And for a great side - the green beans with mushrooms and onions! read more

We come here often. The service is always hit or miss but the food is always great. Great specials and good drinks.

This review is difficult to write. We made reservations for a Christmas dinner for 16 adults a while back. The dinner happened tonight. We walked in and the tables were placed in a nice "U" configuration. We were the last to arrive. Twelve people showed up. We each had plenty of elbow space and we started talking and enjoying ourselves. The restaurant had maybe another 12 people seated at tables and the bar. We had our drinks and our waitress had taken our orders when the manager came over to us and said that we all had to consolidate from the "U" configuration to a row of tables instead. Now we were all comfortable and had our drinks. Our coats were on the back of our chairs and those who had purses or bags had stowed them around their seats. Please understand that many of us are senior citizens who use canes for mobility. The youngest members were maybe in their 30's or 40's. So, the manager told us to stand up, get our stuff and our drinks and move to stand in another area of the restaurant while she had the tables rearranged. Then she left and we sat back at the long table she had arranged for us. We were told that this move was important for their business because they needed the table space for others who might show up for dinner. Again, there were plenty of other tables available. I asked the manager why she would change this in the middle of our dinner and she told me her GM told her to do it. She offered to let me talk to the GM if I wanted. I declined. Big mistake. Our waitress was so embarrassed! She couldn't believe this happened to us and apologized over and over again. Happily, everyone knew it wasn't her decision that had disrupted our dinner. Whose decision was it really? I discovered later that the GM wasn't even there tonight. If that's true, it's pretty shocking to me that the manager would blame the decision on her boss instead of owning it herself. On to the food. Everyone liked their food. I ordered off the sides selection. The baked beans were fabulous and my side salad was stellar. My baked potato was barely warm and butter wouldn't melt on it. I asked for the potato to be removed from our bill. While the food was mostly good, the manager managed to ruin our Christmas dinner. Most were good sports, but we'll never hold another meeting or dinner at this place. Unfortunately for Brewster's, these particular customers know a hell of a lot of people to whom they will recommend, or not, places for dinners and meetings. Went for lunch, early dinner on a Saturday. Not extremely busy (like 4 tabletops with people at them) took a few mins to get seated. Everything was smooth as far as service after that. There appeared to be only one waitress and the restaurant was getting busier. The waitress mentioned to a nearby table that she had a very large take out order that they were trying to take care of. Food arrives. Started with stuffed mushrooms. They were ok. Salad was eh. I like my lettuce cut and not just thrown on the plate but it was fine. I'm not sure if the ranch is housemade, I was going to ask. But it was delicious. I ordered a BBQ chicken steak combo with a baked potato. I would definitely order again. I wish the BBQ had been grilled onto the chicken was it was good, I'm not a big BBQ fan either. My steak was good. It was more lukewarm, but had potential. I would order again. read more

Special thanks to Brad, we were in the area on Thanksgiving 2024, just looking for a cold beer to cool the pipes, maybe something quick to eat. We passed Brewster and saw the parking lot was full and decided to stop in. There was a family party going on and Brad met us at the door and said we were welcome to join. He grabbed us a couple beers and told us to eat whatever we wanted and take a plate home. He made sure we felt like family. Stopped in for lunch and was immediately hooked by the smell. The wood smoke is intoxicating! I tried the Wednesday special -wing basket with fries. The wings were cooked well, and the fries were incredible. They have a slightly heavy batter, which gives them a perfectly crunchy outside. The wings come with four sauce options, although tangy gold and chipotle were my favorite. I will definitely come back and try some of the other barbecue options! P.S. The service was also great. It wasn't really what I expected from when the first time they opened up things taste a little different now when I go back I don' think so. My granddaughters macaroni cheese look like it came out of a box for the macaroni and cheese that we took home looked absolutely fabulous. It was a different kind if you're gonna serve one serve. Very good smoked brisket. Its one of my favorites. But unfortunately,it seems to be in a downward spiral as far as quality. Been getting dry brisket in which half the content is gobs of fat. Used to be trimmed well and moist and delicious. Its expensive so i expect the quality to be higher. And the stuffed mushrooms used to be incredible but have also went downhill bigtime lately as well. Get it together Brewsters Smokehouse. If you are looking for trendy, fancy gourmet this is not your place...if you want great smokehouse ribs with a dry rub where you decide how much sauce you want to add this is your place! I'm not someone who orders rubs but after our friends raved about the ribs I figured what the heck, and I must say it was worth the decision to go with the ribs...they were fantastic! I found myself here at the tail end of the Kentucky Derby party because I really wanted to try a barbecue place since moving to Allegan. Let me just say the food here is phenomenal! We ordered a pulled pork meal and a beef brisket meal with mashed potatoes and corn bread. My pulled pork was awesome, so tender and juicy with several bbq sauces to choose from. All of the sauces are delicious, the Memphis Sweet being my favorite. The beef brisket however was the best brisket I've had in my LIFE! I normally don't order brisket because it is very tough and dry when not cooked properly. This was not the case here. Perfectly cooked, fall apart tenderness. Drinks were good too, long islands are my go-to and that was the special that night. Pretty sure it was straight liquor, just how they're intended. They were also serving mint juleps for the derby, which also was mostly bourbon. Delicious and generous for drinks that were on special. The only thing about it is the place is very small and parking can be difficult when it's very busy like that day. Between the derby and several birthday parties, it was very loud inside and the patio didn't appear open though it was a nice day. Service was slower as a result of busyness which I know is not always in their control but they were hosting their own party and I felt they could have better prepared. Spotted Brewsters while driving through town. Turned around and went back, and boy am I glad I did. Both my companion and I had the brisket sandwich basket with onion rings. The brisket was smoked to perfection, the bun softly toasted, and the onion rings were the best I have had in a long time. Thick slices of onion in a crisp tasty batter. I also ordered the cole slaw for an extra charge and it was great with a hint of horseradish. The four sauces offered were all tasty too. The waitress was attentive but not intrusive,which I appreciate. If you like BBQ, stop here. The also have a nice selection of beer. read more

From the road this looks like a place you'd probably want to skip, but I'm glad I took a look at some reviews and gave this place a shot. We got a family combo platter so ribs, brisket, and pulled pork and they were soooo delicious. My favorite is definitely the brisket. Very tender. The sauce selection was great and I chose the molasses bbq. The cornbread was sweet and phenomenal and when I accidentally dropped some on the ground our funny, charming server went to the back and got us more without even being asked. We went to Brewster's smokehouse this past Friday evening for dinner with friends. I ordered the brisket dinner which came with two sides. I got their homemade coleslaw and really wanted their onion rings as well as cornbread. They ended up giving me all 3 and there was no up charge. This was the best cornbread I have ever had at a restaurant as it was warm and still very moist- not dry like you get at most places. Onion rings were very good as well as they were battered not breaded and were whole slices. Homemade coleslaw was very good but I ended up not being able to finish it as there was so much food. Now, For the star of the show. The brisket was perfect. Just enough of a smoke flavor, and enough bark on the outside to make me very jealous of their technique and process. I ordered the brisket which was pretty good. My girlfriend ordered the pulled pork which was good also. I thought the pork was better. The brisket was a little dry and a little over seasoned. It seemed to balance out after I had a forkful of their awesome coleslaw. Hands down the best coleslaw I've ever had. The cornbread is very good too! Moist not dry. The only complaint I have was the waitress was kind of annoying. We had just got out food and she asked if we needed boxes to go. She was restocking condiments on all the other tables and took our ketchup away. If/ when I go back I will make sure to not have this server. A couple times we had another server ask us if we had everything we needed. Needless to say, I wish the tip went to the other servers no the one we had. I gave it 3 stars only because of our server. We love Brewster's and eat here fairly often because we love the consistency of the food and service. I only get their brisket - it is sooooo good. I like being able to have the different sauces as well. The potato salad is awesome (although a wee bit too much mustard on our last visit). Hubby likes to order something different each time, and he is always happy. Had the patty melt this last time and loved it. He always gets the hand dipped mushrooms. Portion is too big, but they are yummy. Stuffed mushrooms also a winner. read more
