600 is such a cute place for a lovely meal! We have been multiple times but stopped in on a recent sunny afternoon for some lunch. 600 is so light and airy, we really love the atmosphere!! We had a really great waitress, I wish I would have gotten her name! She was doing the job of hostess and waitress to multiple tables, and doing it all very well! We ordered a chicken sandwich and a salad for our lunch entrees! Both were very good and presented very well! While the food is good and quality feels high - the price is also on the high side. For a sandwich and a salad, waters to drink, we spent over $50 for our lunch! Just something to be aware of! While we had time - the experience was not fast. Something to be aware of if needing a quick lunch. The restaurant was not overly busy but the wait was a little long to receive our order. I ordered a salmon salad - the menu nor the website specify if the salmon is wild caught or farmed. A group of six of us came in for brunch and were seated upstairs, which we really enjoyed. It was quieter and felt more private, making it a nice space for conversation. The service was on the slower side and could have used more attention to detail--coffee refills were missed, and we didn't have spoons to stir our coffee. That said, our server was kind and had a gentle, pleasant demeanor. The food overall was very good. Only one person in our group was disappointed--the chicken and waffles were described as dry, with the chicken coating lacking flavor. Everyone else enjoyed their meals, and the desserts were a standout; they were excellent and loved by all. One area that could use improvement is the upstairs bathroom. While it was well stocked with supplies, it needed cleaning. Clear signage for the upstairs restroom and perhaps a nice piece of artwork would also be welcome touches. My husband and I went out for a date night. We had never been to 600 Kitchen & Bar so we decided to try something new. Upon walking in, we were greeted promptly and sat right away. It was not extremely busy when we first arrived so it was surprising how long it took for someone to wait on us. I would say about 10 minutes or so. We ordered some drinks and then ordered the Dip Trio for an appetizer. The Dip Trio was very delicious. Although the salmon dip does have a fairly strong smoked salmon taste. The favorite was the goat cheese mouse. The bread was warm and tasty so much so, we were getting full before we ordered dinner. We decided to share a sandwich and asked the waitress what was the best. She recommended the Free Bird, which is supposed to be like a spicy Nashville chicken sandwich, so we ordered it to split . The fries were delicious! The sandwich not so much. First, there was far too much pimento cheese and don't get me wrong, I like pimento cheese but, it was too much in my opinion for a sandwich. The chicken itself was tough, so tough, I couldn't cut it with our butter knife at the table. I hate to say but it was also dry. We did not finish the sandwich. The pickles were probably the highlight of that sandwich. As we ate, the restaurant got busier. It took quite a while to get our bill. I hate to say it but this was our first and probably last time we dine here, the food was a disappointment, especially for the somewhat pricey amount we paid. Atmosphere though is pretty nice. Really cool, hip place! Lots of seating and has an upstairs where bigger parties can go. My hubby & I sat at the bar & had lunch. Service was great it was a team effort. We had the goat mousse as an appetizer & it was good. Serviced with lots of warm bread. I had the Green Goddess salad and added grilled Salmon. It was delish! My hubby had the Reuben sandwich. He really enjoyed it so if your a reuben lover definitely order it. They have lots of vegan & gluten free options. Sorry 600 K&B I could not give you 5 stars because you do not serve Captain Morgan. The servers are very friendly, and while the food is on the pricier side, the portions are large...my pork belly elote was almost the size of a full meal. Unfortunately, I can't quite share the same enthusiasm for the food. The pork in the elote was nearly all fat, and the goulash I had was not particularly flavorful. You'll have a decent night here, but I would recommend other downtown places first. read more

Beyond that--the first bite I took was impossible to chew or bite off because they put a piece of beef with a tendon running right through the whole thing. Impossible to eat. Staff is amazing. Atmosphere is too but they had rented out the upstairs part of this converted warehouse to a large group cheering and screaming about every three minutes. My husband and I did The Gilmore dinner for two meal special. I ordered the Carrot ginger soup which I sent back due to it being way too gingery. The other option was a kale Caesar salad. It had no dressing on it and had some sprinkled cheese. Not great. I got the fried chicken plate which came in bowl (they seem to leaning into making things ramen bowl like) and the fried chicken was too hard to cut and almost to chew. It had brown mashed potatoes which um what? And some sautéed veggies that tasted vinegar and left a very awful taste in my mouth. My daughter did get a ramen bowl and did not enjoy it, strange flavors in it. Is anyone tasting the food there? It is not good and downright an awful flavor. Awesome place! It's not only huge but they have a fantastic patio space too- which we ended up sitting on during Cinco de Mayo. I had a spicy margarita- it was cinco de Mayo after all! It was great and had a flavored ice cube which I loved. The menu here is pretty expansive- there will definitely be something for everyone. We had the swordfish entree and chicken Caesar and both were delicious. The prices and portions are great here. Drinks and food came out pretty quickly and the service was great. So this is one of the newer Millennium Group spots but it has been here for probably close to ten years now. In my opinion it's one of the best of their concepts. I've had many of their dishes, but I've always been a big fan of the steaks, charred broccoli, and they have several solid pork dishes. They have a full bar and I usually sit at the bar when I go in. Headed through Kalamazoo on a road trip and trying to find a decent place to eat. The 600 Kitchen did NOT disappoint. The space itself is an old foundry house. I would love to have been there in warmer weather to see all the open doors. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the fact that it wasn't super noisy with all the brick and glass, but it was actually easy to have a conversation with the person I was dining with. There were so many good looking options on the menu, but we settled on the gnocchi and the chicken curry. Holy moly, portions were definitely substantial. We actually could have split an appetizer and an entree and probably have been satisfied. Both dishes were really good. There was a lemon puff pastry dessert on the menu that looked good as well, so we got that to have later. Honestly, for how good the food was, the dessert was a bit sad, but can overlook it. Just didn't have that zingy lemon flavor and wasn't puffy. Our server was excellent, always checked in with us. If we find ourselves back in Kalamazoo, we'll stop by again! read more

Buckle up, cause this is the only review you need to read before deciding if you wanna eat here or not and it's gonna be a long one. For those of you that want the short version: I would hesitantly recommend giving this place a try but certain items are great and some are terrible. Avoid the salmon and anything with tomato sauce. The steak is an absolute no!!! The atmosphere and service are great if that's what you care about. Super cute place. Nice lighting. Outdoor seating. All that jazz. What I need to elaborate on is the food. If you look through my other reviews you'll see I'm a totally amateur food critic and I'm on a mission when I go out to eat. It is rare I give out 4 stars and 5 stars is few and far between. This place ALMOST got 5 stars from me but I can't ignore a few major issues. Some of the menu items are absolutely mind bogglingly amazing - but some you couldn't pay me to eat again. The thing with this place is you definitely have to order the right thing to be happy. If I could talk to the owner directly I'd tell them they're really shooting themselves in the foot by keeping a few mediocre items on the menu. You try the wrong thing and you're giving them 1 star and never going back! It's like a very expensive game of Russian roulette. Below you will find individual reviews for each dish we tried over 3 visits (brunch and dinner). Burmese Pork: 10/10 absolutely delicious. This place does pork right! The combination of flavors is astounding. The meat is cooked just right, super tender and juicy. Seasoned well. Love the toppings. Get this!!! Grilled Salmon: 2/10 couldn't pay me to eat it again. The salmon was extremely bland. Tasted like they didn't even put salt on it. Cooked medium unless you request otherwise. Covered in a tomato sauce that tasted like they heated up a can of tomatoes and threw it on there- again with no seasoning. The corn bread it comes with is delicious but I would avoid this dish at all costs! Cheesecake crepes: 10/10 AMAZING!!! So often crepes sound good but are poorly executed. This place hit the mark just right! The filling was delicious, the toppings were perfect. No complaints! Shashuka: 2/10 again with the canned tomatoes? Lacked seasoning. Really really disappointed by this one because I love shashuka. Very poorly done. Would avoid. B.I.B: 8/10 like I said, this place kills it with pork. Very well done. Great flavor. Overall I enjoyed this dish. I will say the sauce on the pork is slightly strong for breakfast after you've eaten a fair amount and the eggs were over cooked. Banana Cream Pie: 9/10 so good!!! Texture is really good. Crust is well cooked but kind of thick which throws off the ratio. Flavor is delicious! No complaints. Mushroom burger: 4/10 very mediocre. Bland patty covered in somewhat decent toppings. Wouldn't be something I'd order again. Steak: 1/10 terrible. Can't find the name of it on the menu but it was a cut of steak that was described as "a close runner up to filet mignon". If you look at the picture you'll see it was terribly inconsistently cooked. I ordered it medium rare. Some pieces were well done and some were completely raw. The steak was borderline inedible. My partner tried some and ended up spitting it into her napkin. I ate a couple pieces and then gave up. We let the server know and they took 50% of the price of the steak off of our bill. Honestly they should've taken the whole thing off seeing as we ate a few bites of it but we were already uncomfortable complaining so we let it be. $34 for such low quality meat is absurd. So, like I said. Mixed review. I hope they pull it together and make the menu more consistent because I think that this place has potential! read more

There's indoor and outdoor seating, and either way you're getting lots of natural light from all the windows. Our waitress was really lovely and helped me decide on the grilled salmon - great choice, by the way - after making sure it was safe for someone with my allergies to order. So firstly I have to say the whole staff was absolutely amazing. Very welcoming and engaging. The ambiance was very relaxing , and open , lots of natural light and very warming. We ordered the humus trio which was a 10/10 , I could tell it was made in-house. Here is why I gave a 3 star. My husband ordered a steak at $50. He ordered it M and it came out WELL done. He didn't even finish it. In the reastraunt or at home. Being an ex chef he was very disappointed. He did enjoy the smashed potatoes. I ordered the vegan mac and cheese and was EXTREMLY disappointed. It wasn't even Mac and cheese , it was more like a mac and curry sauce. I have a very limited palate due to my soy allergy , due to my recent breast cancer and I have acid reflux and it was a little spicy. I was disappointed to hear they cook their food in Soy Bean oil (a cheap substitute for the good stuff) , it limited what i could eat. Since it was my first time I asked the bartender what was good and he promptly gave me two options right off the bat, one of which I had my eyes on already. I added the pork belly to the Creamy Mushroom Gnocchi for an additional cost and man was it worth it. This was a true experience! Located in an old foundry building, the architecture and original design of the building is a true showpiece. We sat upstairs and had a beautiful view through a large window. I ordered a cocktail to savor with my meal - an extra dirty, vodka martini with blue cheese olives. Super smooth and the olives were freshly stuffed- much appreciated. A great shareable to have is the goat cheese mousse - wow. Go ahead and ask for extra bread. While I normally do not gravitate toward entrees with pork, the Cuban gnocchi looked delicious and our server recommended it. The gnocchi were fat and soaked up the sauce. It was delicious!
