My new favorite place to eat in Scottsbluff! I LOVE pizza and pasta, and Sam & Louie's did not disappoint. First off, the decor is classic, clean, and casual. And OMG the waitstaff is incredible. We ordered cheese sticks along with the free bread sticks you get when checking in w/Yelp. The marinara sauce is really good. A little on the sweet side, but still delish. The cheese to coating ratio on the cheese sticks were perfect and the bread sticks were tasty. I believe it's their pizza dough just cooked and sliced. It's not super fancy, but it's good dough. I ordered a pepperoni calzone, hubby had the double-sauced cannelloni. The calzone was nice and crispy on the outside. Hubby thought it could use more pepperoni, but I was fine with it. His pasta was outstanding. The cannelloni was stuffed with sausage and covered in half marinara and half alfredo sauce. The sausage had great flavor, (better than the sausage crumbles that come in the calzones) and the alfredo sauce was rich and creamy. I dipped my calzone in the alfredo sauce throughout the meal. Waited about 45 minutes for my food to come out and when it did there was a whole bowl of water at the bottom that completely washed the sauce off of the pasta noodles. Didn't immediately eat my bread roll and it got soaked and became soggy. We weren't asked once how our meal was going and i had to catch the waitress while she gave us our ticket when i hadn't even started eating yet. It was a decent place to have dinner with the kids but limited on types of crust options and available beers. I liked the pizza we ate but the side salad was simply iceberg lettuce, two slices of onion and dressing. I was told by a family member that lives in Gering that it usually has tomatoes and croutons too. So mine may have been a fluke. I like coming to this place for the dining experience. Customer service seems to always be good though I don't go here that often. Pizza and menu items are unique. Plus pack loads of flavor. Can be a bit pricey to some but it's relative to what you're gonna pay at a regular pizza joint. But you pay a little more for the quality and great taste. This is a decent place in my opinion. Not phenomenal, but decent. They have a solid menu, pretty good prices, and a reasonably friendly staff. Orders are accurate and generally as-described. My only real qualm about it is that the portions seemed small. The calzones are particularly anemic, lacking any amount of stuffing or filling. I mean, it's not empty, but it's far from stuffed. At any rate, you're not wasting your money here, particularly since places like this aren't in great abundance where we're at, but you're certainly not missing out on anything by skipping it, either. read more

Adding to my review. We ate here the other night and got the King Kong size Sam & Louie's Special. The pieces were huge and there wasn't any change in the delicious factor. We have eaten here plenty of times between my reviews and have tried several flavors of pizza, including the T-Rex as well as the Chicken Pesto. Their wings are very tasty, especially if you request a little extra time in the fryer. *Note, if you want the King Kong size, you have to call ahead, 24 hours in advance. It's became a fast staple on my noon hour lunch places with at least weekly visits since they opened. Great local owners behind this place. Support local downtown Scottsbluff. We had three adults and three kids eat here last night. The lasagna was good -- it arrived lukewarm but otherwise made for an enjoyable meal. The spaghetti wasn't as flavorful. None of us cared for the garlic roll, as it had no discernible garlic flavor (we like garlic). I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Caesar salad was made with romaine lettuce. Based on the other reviews I was expecting iceberg. We had both white and red wine and both were fine. This is not a fabulous Italian joint, but you could do a lot worse.
