Another update: 5/18/2026 3/16/2026 dropped car to local dealership in Quincy, IL. I have not seen the car since. They have now replaced 2 transmissions, the engine, the axle, spark plugs, and now 2 catalytic converters. Still no help from the dealership. Talked to the GM on 4/22/2026. First thing he made clear was he was not going to help until I removed my social media post. I informed him when I made that post, it was removed within 24 hours so then he was willing to speak with myself and my husband. He ended the conversation with a promised return phone call. He has yet to call us back. I have reached out since via phone and email. All I want is for someone to listen to me and help me. I have been nice. I have been respectful. I have not found one helpful person within this company. I do not know what else to do at this point. read more

LACK OF COMMUNICATION, VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, & EXTREMELY RUDE GENERAL MANAGER!!! During 12/18/2025 thru 1/20/2026, I was in communication with various dealership employees: from Michelle McCaskey (Saleswoman); to Tyler McCarthy (Sales Manager); to Steven McCarthy (General Manager); to Kevin Burlin (Finance Manager); to Ryan Gremore (President) about the purchase of a particular preowned vehicle. I was forced to escalate things and speak to various sales employees including management due the lack of communication received. After finally agreeing on a Out the Door Price where I was going to pay the additional $895 Shipping/Delivery Fee, (not including my out-of-state tax & registration fees because this dealership does not include so I would have had to pay my state tax & registration fees at my local DMV) the dealership was unwilling to accept a wire transfer for full payment despite I was a cash paying buyer. Instead, the dealership wanted me to make a $1000 credit/debit card deposit over the phone to remove the car from being available. Additionally, they wanted me to mail a cashier's check for the remaining difference to them. It's 2026, this buying process, of mailing cashier's check instead of accepting a wire transfer, is very outdated. Most dealerships in the USA accept wire transfer especially for out-of-state customers as wires transfers are safe and fast. Mailing of cashier's check especially during Christmas/New Years Holiday time can result in a lost or delayed shipment. I'd expect this dealership to accept wire transfers since it markets itself for selling to out-of-state customers and offering delivery Service. During this Christmas/New Years Holiday time, a one-way airflight price (from New Orleans, LA to Bloomington - Normal, IL) was very expensive. I did not want fly to purchase the car in-person as the one-way airflight price plus gas price to drive car back home was higher than the one-way shipping/delivery option. Without any further communication, the dealership sold the vehicle to another buyer. BEWARE!!!! DO NOT PURCHASE A VEHICLE FROM OR DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS DEALERSHIP! Worst experience I've ever had at a car dealership or with sales period. We called earlier in the week to ask about a used Ram truck we saw online. All communication was with Michelle in sales. We told them that we were from out of state but we're interested in stopping by to see the truck. No warnings given, no questions asked. We sent a family friend in the area to look it over a few days before we drove. He went by the dealership TWICE and looked at it, FaceTimed us, and no one even approached him. We were hoping someone would so we could ask some questions, but nope. That should've been our first warning. Saturday me, my dad, and my husband drive in, meet Michelle with the truck. It's filthy, it's been on the lot for nearly 5 months and it's obvious they don't care about it (spiderwebs, dust, bed cover is collapsed in). Drove great. My dad who's worked in management of Jeep/ Chrysler/ Dodge dealerships for over 40 years came with us to help us. She completed dismissed him, didn't introduce herself to him, didn't offer a chair in her office, nothing. He was absolutely astounded at the treatment we got throughout this experience and the condition their used cars were in. We offer lower than asking due to the condition of the vehicle and how long its been there and she laughed. I've never been laughed at by a salesperson in my life. She said "there's absolutely no way, but I'll run it by our sales manager", left for a second and immediately came back and said "he's busy, I'm not even going to waste his time". She didn't even TRY to talk to the sales manager and disrespected our offer all in one swing? She also made a point to say "We won't even make money on this truck at this point, it's a week from going to auction". So she has no intention of even trying to make a sale, doesn't care about used car sales since she won't make as much, and doesn't care about potential buyers. We discussed why it had been there so long and why they had FIVE trucks all in roughed up condition and her excuse was "people keep trading them for Hyundais and I just can't sell them". I wonder why. She said "you're not even local so I can't even use services or have anything to offer you". So since we're not from the village of Normal, we're not worthy of a sale. Her exact words were "you're lucky if I can even put gas in the tank for you" on a truck that had the fuel light on before we test drove it. She then asked how we were planning on paying for it (no amount agreed upon, before we even agreed to buying) and we said cash and a private loan. She told us that they wouldn't accept that anyways since we were from out of state and that we would be required to finance through them. My dad walked out at this point, as me and husband tried to discuss this with her. She KNEW we were coming from out of state a week before, we had our financing lined up, and she throws this in at the last minute? At this point I don't think she wants to sell cars. I understand that the market has been labile and has been through some changes. But to not have ANY respect for potential customers, to laugh at them, force your dealership financing (a total scam), disrespect everyone involved, and not even try to work with your sales manager? The biggest waste of our time, we'll gladly go to another dealership and buy the truck we want. We will be reaching out to management about this experience and will let our family in Bloomington to stay far away. Absolutely sorry treatment. read more

I bought a used sonata from them and the salesman was great, but I thought it was kind of odd he said it was common for people to only turn one Key fob in. Then a week later I was putting groceries in my trunk and the mat collapsed only for me to find out there was no spare tire. They also removed the floor mats. This car was in amazing shape otherwise, which led me to believe they removed all the things they could to charge me later on. When I went back the lady even mentioned a foam block they put in place of the spare tire. They included a 12mo warranty for the drive train. During an oil change near the 12month mark they informed me that the "oil feed line" to the turbo had a leak. It seemed odd that the turbo would need oil, but I'm not vin diesel. I then get a call with a whole explanation of how the turbo is not a main part of the engine so it's not covered under the warranty. You mean to tell me the air intake to the engine isn't part of the drive train ? This started sounding really odd so I took it to the repair mechanic I've been using for years who confirmed there is no oil feed line to a turbo just coolant. He looked the car over and informed me there was a leak in the seal of the head gasket, which would be a much harder claim to deny. So I was intentionally deceived by the dealer to avoid doing warranty work using the warranty that the salesman was so extremely proud of. I thought I finally had a great experience buying a car, but the after experience was awful. read more

Our experience with this dealership was extraordinarily bad. Our sales rep (Roy) at first seemed genuine and down to earth. We test drove a vehicle that he said was just driven by the manager. The car still had MSRP sticker in the window as a new car and had a total of 3100 miles (Genesis G70). We informed him that we were interested in leasing through Genesis. "No problem" he said. After we came back inside he of course went to talk to GM and came back to tell us we could not lease the vehicle as it had already been titled and would not qualify for the program because it was considered a "used vehicle". He then offered to show us other cars but we had decided on a particular color scheme and did not want to be swayed from that. He then offered to "locate" a car for us- to which we agreed. After finding a vehicle matching what we wanted he stated that we would have to pay an extra $1000 for them to bring it to this dealership. We declined , saying that we could locate our own vehicle and pick it up ourselves. He told us "there are no vehicles in the state". We said thank you and started walking to our car. Before we could get to our vehicle he ran out to us and said his GM would waive the $1000 relocation cost. We went back inside and he told us they would need us to pay $1000 and they would begin a search. "Apparently" the vehicle we wanted was not available. We again declined and left the dealership with him imploring us to please talk to his GM before we left - ugh- no thank you. When we returned home he now called us to ask if he found a vehicle would we be interested- I told him ti go ahead and look but we would be looking for our own. At some point I decided to check the outright sale price on the first vehicle we had driven - the previously titled 2022 G70 with 3100 miles. The original MSRP sticker had the price at 45075- I search Edmunds and found the value to be around $35k. He said his GM would not take anything under the MSRP sticker price - at this point I ended our relationship and informed him that I had no confidence in the integrity of him or the dealership. That afternoon located the exact car that we wanted - in St Louis- a 2:15 drive from our house. Great experience at this dealership as we were able to work out price and lease info over the phone and the car was ready for pick up when we arrived. Steer clear of OBrien Hyundai- your money will go further elsewhere. They lied to us on so many occasions-it us experiences like this that give dealerships a bad name. read more

I NEVER leave reviews but I feel this was warranted. I called this dealership and spoke to a young lady on the phone after I pressed 2 for sales. I told her I'm not sure who I need to talk to but I was wondering if they are one of the dealerships who would honor the IRS tax credit for electric vehicles at the point of sale because only certain dealerships will do that. She said she doesn't know. I then explained it to her a little more to try to see if maybe she'd look into it a little more for me because she seemed like she just didn't know what it was. After explaining it more, telling her that I was interested in buying one of their electric vehicles, and asking if she knew someone else in sales that could potentially answer the question for me, she still proceeded to say she doesn't know. She clearly didn't care about my sale from her tone and she put in zero effort to find out any information about my inquiry. Just from this one phone call they lost a potential sale. Thought we made a reasonable offer on a vehicle and the lady literally laughed in our faces. She went to bring it up with the sales manger but came back a minute later saying he was busy and it wasn't worth asking him. There was no negotiation at all on a used vehicle that was sitting in their lot for almost five months. I called service, and spoke with James. I described to him the issue, he knew exactly what the problem was and told me to come right in. Upon arrival, he got my car up on a lift and resolved the issue in less than 10 minutes. I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful their service department is. If you are on the fence about purchasing a Hyundai, please know the service department goes above and beyond and should be considered a valuable perk when purchasing a Hyundai. I have owned my 2019 Hyundai Santa Few for just about a month... It was considered used with just a little over 5K miles on it, but it has been a dream! I worked with Nicky Theis, who was newer to the dealership, but he helped tremendously with my husband and I as we toggled back and forth between a couple of different models. We walked through the lot on a Sunday and on Monday stopped back in and were there well after closing, but no one tried to rush us along. I must say, this team knows how to put the customer first. I should begin by saying that we love Hyundai vehicles. Our last 4 have been Hyundais (2 Sonata and 2 Santa Fe). I say this to explain that we love the company. Now let me explain why we love this dealer. First, and foremost, their service department is the best we have ever dealt with. They actively work to build a rapport and relationship with each owner, and do what they can to make the experience satisfactory. Even if you don't buy a vehicle from them, take it to them to be serviced! Now, their sales team. As I said, we've had 4 Hyundais, but only the last two have been purchased from them. Our first was not purchased due to a less than satisfactory experience with a salesperson that was not customer-centric. The second was because they did not have the specific used vehicle we wanted. Our last two vehicles, however, have been the most painless purchases we have ever made. Not only did they offer several options as far as vehicles, but the negotiation process with both vehicles was without all of the "let me check for one more discount" back-and-forth that happens at some dealers. You can quickly get them to the "This is the payment amount we want per month" and they will do everything in their power to get it there. As long as Hyundai keeps making vehicles that we are happy with, we will continue to use Extreme. read more

While visiting the area from out-of-state our 2012 Sonata had a small problem - the brake lights would not shut off even when the engine was off. Not wanting to risk a dead battery we called O'Brien early last Monday morning to ask if they could help us. Even though they were quite busy they said "yes". They looked at the car as soon as my son brought the car in and they got to work immediately. They found the problem and fixed it while he waited. They also noticed that it needed to have 2 recall items fixed so they did that too! This is the second time they took performed emergency repairs while visiting Bloomington. Brandon was quite accommodating and took excellent care of us. He saved our trip. We certainly appreciate their willingness to make room in their busy schedule for us out-of-towners. read more

They sold me a demo car saying it as a new car and that's the biggest lie one could ever say while selling a car. They didn't even deliver the car with full tank of gas but instead gave me some money which was not enough for a full tank. When delivering the car they didn't clean the car properly and I noticed half smoked cigarettes in the car lying beside the seat. They didn't give me the second key and I had to drive hundreds of miles to their store to get the key and that's all because of their wrong information. If you happen to buy car from them then be careful with the business manager and the sales guy. I would never recommend them to anyone. Its a waste of time and money. read more

I had to change my review based off some events that occurred! I was thinking of another vehicle for my husband. However my brother passed away and was waiting for some life insurance money. Steve was a little too insensitive. I felt pressured during that whole process. I would get texts asking "how's things with the coroner?" I mean it was more in depth with that. I felt it was too insensitive. He made it seem like I was made of money which I am not. My mom had to borrow out of my trust to help with my car. Steve kept pressuring me to get in touch with my mother to bother her for more. I told him that she has nothing. I was ready to get another vehicle with them until the insensitivity. Overall, I felt pressured and no salesman should be pushing someone that hard. The fact that I lost my brother so recently he made it sound like its forget how she feels I want the money! When we told Steve we were not going through with the deal he had a nasty attitude and my husband had told him twice he turned in his other vehicle. Clearly he was not listening to what he was saying. I mean I got a vehicle from them but if I would have seen this behavior before the deal went down, I would have went somewhere else! read more

My husband and I recently stopped in to LOOK at a Hyundai Elantra. We were greeted on the lot by Elijah. He took a lot of time patiently answering questions, explaining differences in the cars, and most importantly listening to what I was saying I wanted or didn't want in a car. No pressure, no swaying me to try to talk me into more than I wanted. We decided to price the Elantra....still not intending to purchase a car that day. What we got was a price we absolutely couldn't pass up. Add that to the cleanest service center I have ever seen and the most polite, knowledgeable, and accommodating sales team we've ever experienced. They are so awesome that not only did I drive home in a new Elantra....my husband drove home in a new Sonata as well! We are thrilled that we decided to stop in to "look"! I will NEVER buy a Hyundai or give this place my business. My mother purchased a 2011 Tucson new from this dealership and every few months it's being towed back because it won't start. I've personally been with her when she has been treated rudely by the service department and told nothing is wrong with the car. She has low miles on the car but they claim that's the issue. She never lets it sit more than a week at a time but that seems to be too long based on what she's being told. Even Hyundai itself has given her this same line and said the car needs to be driven more. I guess if you own a Hyundai you better not have to park it anywhere for over a couple of days or it's a crap shoot if it will start. The dealership keeps the car for days at a time with no offer of a loaner and then just returns it saying nothing's wrong. What a piece of junk and what a way to take ownership of a problem product you sell. I plan on sharing this message with everyone and I can so others don't make the mistake of giving their hard earned money to this company or dealership. read more
