Basically any kind of accessories you are looking for you can find it here. You literally could spend a full work day in this spot just looking like a museum! I will come to Sam Moon for one purpose, and one purpose only: to shop for items for the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (or drag for that matter I guess). It is perfect for that, when you need a lot of glitzy, over-the-top items but have a limited budget for such things. It's all extremely cheaply made and gaudy knock-offs. You won't fool anyone, but it's still fun to have for the right purpose. It is easy to go overboard here. When items are $5 to $10, it is easy to justify putting just that one more item in your basket - then you find you've spent $100 or more. It's a mecca...a crazy, crazy mecca of cheap items. I've never quite understood the appeal of Sam Moon. Much of the jewelry is cheap and tacky looking, not to mention poorly made. The other shops (bags, home furnishings, etc) have a better selection and quality, but still not the greatest. I don't understand why it is a shopping mecca when Dallas has much better to offer (for regular AND discount shopping). As far as shopping experience, the staff is very rude and customers are even worse about slamming into you just to grab a pair of $5 earrings. I'm so glad I had been warned about this place before I walked in -- it is overwhelming!! There's 100,000 of every accessory you can think of in this store! It's like you've died and gone to accessory heaven! I went in with a specific item I wanted to find and purchase -- and I didn't just that. I fell for the hype and went here. I was very ANNOYED when I walked in and signs were all over the place, stating: You MUST Spend a Minimum of $30 here. WTF? Granted, you will be SURROUNDED and overwhelmed (up to the ceiling) with jewels, jewelry, hair accessories, purses, wallets, etc., but WHY the Jewelry Nazi signs? So wierd! One would think any purchase is a purchase, but apparently, you must follow their rules or no jewelry for YOU! Anyway, they had lots of sterling silver, which is what I went for. I got a HUGE pair of SS hoops (look for the .925 mark, beware!!) for $12, and then there is a lot of fun, glitzy, bling bling that many of us ladies like to fashion. I am sort of glad I went, to finally see what the freaking big deal was, but I am not going back unless I take some friends and we can not feel the pressure of the $30 thing. It is probably wise to go there before Christmas, too, for stocking stuffers, but it's not so much fun when you just want to buy one thing! There are tons of bins of $2-$4 item earrings, too. Literally witnessed the most disrespectful display of customer service I have ever seen in my life. Walked in the store at 20 minutes till 7pm. At 6:55pm, literally watched the store security guard as well as staff clap and shoo people out of the stores and towards the registers. By this time I had already checked out but I watched them literally treat the people in the store like they were cattle and a commodity snapping fingers and hurrying customers to the cash register, who were obviously already headed that way. Truly the customer service alone would be a reason for me to never come back to the store again. It was so deplorable, I can't believe they actually treat customers like that...wow. Really, how is it that they want you to buy their products, but as soon as the clock hit 7, they turned from "please buy" to GET OUT! There are plenty of ways to encourage people to leave a store, outside of being rude. Hundreds of stores successfully employ the model. They should try one. read more

I went to Sam Moon during my lunch break the other day. It hasn't changed much from when I last went about 6 years ago. There are tons of purses, wallets, scarves, jewelry, wigs, tiaras, sunglasses. Like sparkly? They'll have it. Most everything is pretty cheap, although for a few earrings, rings and a purse my friend spent almost $100. Other than maybe an occasional ring I usually never find anything I like. I don't wear jewelry except for rings, so that's normal. I did end up buying a black purse this time. It wasn't gaudy and doesn't look too cheap so yay for that. Also it wasn't too busy around noon on a Wednesday so there weren't a million women running around and it was easy to browse. I purchased a backpack for my daughter for school for $30. It was really cute, however, after under 2 months it started falling apart. Cheaply made I guess. When I called, they informed me that there is only a 2 week window to do the return! They must know their stuff is going to fall apart. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was either hung up on, or they would answer the phone and lay the phone down or transfer me to a number in which no one would answer. Horrible customer service and cheap merchandise. After 6 attempts at trying to get a manager, I gave up. I will not shop here again and will spread the word to friends and family not to either. It's like Claire's and an outlet mall got together and had an enormous baby. I adore this place. They have purses (my weakness), tiaras, hair bows, wallets... Ok, so some of the reviews are mixed. But, entirely, it's all a matter of perspective. If you're attending the Kennedy Centre Honors in NYC, then NO...don't buy you're jewelery at Sam Moon. If you're like me, a female impersonator, and some of the jewelery you're gonna wear is to be fabulous, but probably only worn a couple of times before it turns your skin green, then Sam Moon is fantastic! Consider it disposable Glam! In an age when drive thru dinner is the norm, and almost everything is disposable, why would Sam Moon be any different? I did a Halloween show, two weex ago, and impersonated Sylvia Fine, Fran Dreschers mom from The Nanny, ( see photo) and the earrings, rhinestone necklace, brooch, and everything else was terrific, and didn't cost me an arm and a leg. I was actually able to order a two piece ladies suit, in salmon, from Loehmanns on-line, with the money I saved on shopping at Sam's. As a sidenote, I think it's really funny that most of the people who shopped at Sam Moon's and thought it was tacky, or in bad taste, are regular shoppers at Wal-Mart. Yeah. Where else can you find an Elvis military cap, scarf that can be used in about 1000 different ways (I swear, it can go from scarf to underwear to headwrap in .2 seconds flat), peach cameo with multi-colored rhinestones AND a make-up bag which will be used to store all my booty? Yes, that's right... Sam Moon! What store can I go to if I want to spend $4.50 on jewelry? Sam Moon. What store can I go to if I want to throw down a couple hundred dollars on one piece of jewelry? You guessed it, Sam Moon! If you have time to search for items, Sam Moon is a great place to go because the only time you will find something worth going in there for will be approximately 45 minutes into your shopping experience and once you find that one item that you've been waiting your whole life for... you're a life-time member of Sam Moon. My first find was a 75 cent silk lavender drawstring bag which I, quite literally, had to dig for. It was worth it, I had no remorse walking out of the store with my precious... my 75 cent bag which I spent an hour looking for. It's worn now, but you have to understand how much this tiny bag means to me (it will hold about 4 starlight mints, fyi), I want to pass it on to my grandchildren! Well, anyway, everything in the store is mass produced; however, occasionally you will find something somewhat unique that you can claim as your own and that, my friends, makes all the elbows to your gut worthwhile. read more

I would like to give a positive review to this place because the do have tons of stuff that is cute and prices are very low, BUT, that does not compensate for the experiences with the employees I have had in the past and the worst that just occurred. I purchased a belt. The cashier rolled it up and put it in a bag. My daughter succinctly said that it was too big so back into the bag it went. I just went to return it and two of the employees insisted that I had worn the belt "you wear it... See..." Over and over again. I kept saying that no it had been in the bag rolled up just as they had done when I purchased. Both ladies were essentially and quite loudly accusing me of lying about the belt. Sam Moon taught me that there are, in fact, millions of different type purses available in the world. This place is packed to the gills with bags of all sorts and they aren't all that expensive either. I bought almost every girl on my Christmas list a purse from here this year and didn't break the bank doing it! They also have accessories like these do it yourself belts/belt buckle combos, jewelry (such as it is), scarves, umbrellas, etc. They do have a large collection of tiaras if you are feeling like a princess. However, it is also packed to the gills with PEOPLE, people everywhere, bumping into you, pushing you, grabbing over the top of you, and so on. It is sometimes hard for me not to get in some sort of physical altercation here or at least a screaming match...so that's why if I go, I go when it opens and preferably on a weekday. read more

I have quite a few things from there that I get regular compliments on. In my opinion, if you are going to buy something trendy (like a lot of their bags are), don't pay a lot of money for it.. I'm going back to Boston soon, and I'll be seeing my 9 year old niece. I promised her that when I came back from Texas, I'd give her a pink cowboy hat. I literally searched for "pink cowboy hat" in yelp and this place came up. I didn't see that a pink cowboy hat was specifically mentioned in the reviews, but someone mentioned a sequined one, and someone else mentioned cheap jewelry, so I thought it was worth a shot. Well, I found not one but two different styles of pink cowboy hats here, as well as a host of other colors and styles. The store is enormous, and yes, it's full of cheap jewelry and pocketbooks, so mainly the place if for girls to shop in. But I was able to find what I need with no problem. They sell tons of earrings, necklaces, bracelets, hair accessories, etc. I saw all kinds of bridal-related stuff, so if you're looking to outfit a bachelorette party, I imagine you'd want to stock up here on glittery tiaras, etc. OH - they have a small section of TIES too, and I found one I liked and got that for me. I also got my niece a bracelet/necklace combo - they have a small selection of "kids jewelry" too. But they had what I needed and I'm psyched to be able to give it to my niece. This is one of the places I actually stop by every now and then to see new trends when it comes to jewelries. For my taste I find their jewelries to be amazing especially if you're looking for weddings, parties or any events that matter. They do have lots of taste on purses but their clutches always stand out for me with also a reasonable price. They also carry some belts, cute scarfs (very cheap), fedora and some wigs. I love, love, love Sam Moon. I remember the days when it was just a crammed packed little shop about a third of the size it is now. Every time I come back to Dallas to visit I have to go to this place. You're not going to find a family heirloom, but you will find TONS of cheaply priced, trendy, shiny, fun accessories. Examples: 1999 red vinyl snakeskin cowboy hat (laugh now, but it looked hot at the time. No really. Really.) 2007: Pearl choker necklaces for bridesmaids and pearl/rhinestone tiara for me! 2010: Adorable Jackie O-esq black purse with silver clasp and silver/pearl earrings that look like a bottle of J'adore perfume.
